This is a little discouraging. I have a regular Colt AR with iron sights, a Remington Express 870 and a pretty decent Colt 1911. Through this video, I learned I can't compete. I truly wish there were a competition for regular folks.
you can compete, but it us hard. I just did my first local match with a hk vp9, remington 870 and pws mk110 SBR, with a aimpoint PRO. I was hurting. I'm bringing a scope for my ar for sure.
I always wanted to run a 3 gun course with my vintage guns....just for the fun of it. As long as you have three guns, you should not be barred from playing the game. So what if you're not going to win or have no chance of winning....that's not the point. I want to see how my vintage guns do...AND, more imporatntly....have fun.
Grab a 308 rifle and go into the "he-man" category. Single stack 45, pump action 12 gauge and semi-auto 308. Not a lot of people have the guts to compete in that category, so if you get proficient, you can dominate.
Good Video. I have my UTS Shotgun with Crimson Trace still in the box. Love to use that one. So far I have about $12,000 dollars in firearms & gear I would love to use on this .
hey everyone, do 3 gun to get proficient in you gun handling skills, if you do what these "gamers" do, you be spending a lot of money. compete against yourself. take your time and have fun. a lot of 3 gun and even idpa anymore, are not realistic shooting scenarios. there are no rules in a gun fight.....
Perhaps we can get to the heart of the matter. How many of the 110 million gun owners in this country actually do three gun? I suspect very few. If it is so easy and inexpensive than everyone would do it. In certain areas it is not even possible due to all of the restrictions on firearms and magazines. If you can enjoy it, drive on.
You really Just need to build a good AR platform for CQB/Mid range that's smooth and accurate, next you need a fast shotgun semi auto not a pump (at least not if you want to win), second a fast smooth accurate pistol like a Colt gold cup trophy with some custom work. For a good setup your looking at a bare minimum of about 5k for the weapon systems and that's not including optics which will be about a grand for rifle optics and a few hundred for the other two. Then depending on what they allow you will need either factory match ammo or special purpose reloads so theirs another 2k for reloading equipment but that will pay for itself when loading mass amounts of practice ammo. Then all you need is range and trigger time and I mean a lot of it.
you can shoot with a whole lot less than a colt gold cup. G34 are super popular, almost half the price and can hold almost 3 times the ammo with a extension.
WHy can't we run the course with what we have? wHY IS "WINNING" so important? LIVING through a gun fight is more important and the exposure received through this type of "game" can help.
What if we're a really good shooter and physically fit? Lots of money and being tacticool aren't the key to doing well. I think we could EASILY shave $3000 off your price point and still do very well.
Practice makes perfect. I will sit on the couch and practice loading my shotgun in my free time. Try different combos like turning the shotgun upside down and pushing 2 in at a time or just hold 3 or 4 in your hand, load those and grab 3 or 4 more out of your pocket or holder.
Most 3 gun matches say no. Generally speaking, most 3 gun and 2 gun matches have defined gun rules. Such as rifles and pistol caliber carbine rifles being separate things and no slugs.
Yeah. Hell, I ran a 3 gun comp with a Mosin Nagant and another with a WW1 P14 Enfield. As long as you have a rifle, a shotgun and a pistol, you qualify. LOL
so wtf do all these responses have to do with the sport of 3 gun? Nothing. This is a shooting sport designed with the use of 3 firearms platforms. It's not military training... ffs.
We are pointing out that the skills involved with implementing the handgun & rifle are useful beyond 3 Gun competition. The shotgun is largely pointless beyond 3 Gun. Many people want their skills to translate over to something other than competition eg. self-defense, hunting. Look up some Frank Proctor videos to better understand the philosophy behind the intersection of training and competition.
Please don't call 3-gun firearms "Weapons". A weapon is to be used to hurt or kill someone. Nobody gets physically hurt or killed at 3-gun matches. What's next ? Skeet shooters calling their over-under a "Weapon"?
ZeroBoostBuick I shoot skeet, trap and sporting clays and I’ve never called my firearm a weapon. I’ve never taken my over-under hunting, nor do I plan to. However my Benelli M2, is a home defense weapon. It is used for home defense and it’s sole use is to be a weapon. Thank you for bringing up that important discrepancy!
Firearms were brought into the world as weapons and nothing including your feelings will change that. They're weapons regardless of their current purpose at any given time
