If long guns are so bad. Why can we carry them without a license but not a pistol?

Texas needs to pass Legal open and concealed carry without a license. Why should I pay a fee to do something that the U. S. Constitution say's I have a right to do?

You can open or concealed carry in Kansas without any permit but I've never seen anyone open carrying in months. I also don't see many signs on doors. Nobody seems to care much. That being said, I'm glad we have constitutional carry.

Weather we like these laws or not, I commend the Texas Police for initiating communication with the carrying community. And also for teaching their own officers how to deal with situations with gun carriers. My greatest concern as a Concealed Carry Permit Holder is when permitted gun carriers comes to the aid of victims of a terror attack or whatever murder situation and him/herself end up being taken out by the police.

but some business owners dont up date there new open carry law on there stores i seen they still have the old law in place of there door when you go in i know in all the walmarts or targets they wont let you open carry they tell you leave it in the car then you can go shopping in side they need to up date there door signs they do need to up date they got the old laws still some do.

Indiana resident here. We're very lax with the 'system' and recently someone's been wanting to repeal this gun permit thingy to carry in public (open or concealed, our permit is universal) which I guess is okay... only if I, among others, get a refund. Imagine paying top dollar for something then it becomes free for everybody else shortly after. You'd be a little irked.

Retention holsters are absolutely unnecessary Edit : make sure your gun is unloaded then put it in your holster and try and pull the gun out from an angle of a person that would be standing behind you...its very, very hard to do and would provide more than plenty of response time

If a Texas peace officer stops you on the street for open carrying and ask to see your LTC refer them to Delaware Vs Prouse, Brown Vs Texas or DeBerry Vs US. A Texas peace officer can NOT randomly stop you and ask for ID unless he/she suspects that you are going to commit a crime, have committed a crime, or you are about to commit a crime where and when you are legally carrying a handgun. The Texas Senate and House over stepped their legal bounds when they said that this is okay.

General Question to all knowledgeable ppl. I often see make shift signs for 30.06 and 30.07 meaning they don't look official, often typed it with word or hand written. My question is do they have to apply and QUALIFY for the sign and does it have to be an exact size and wording the state mandates? If they are not, are these type of signs null and void? Thanks in advance.

There's one aspect that wasn't covered, or if it was, I missed it. What if a business owner who has not posted a 30.07 sign asks you to leave his place of business because you are open carrying? Must you leave? I believe the answer is yes or face trespass charges. Is that correct?

Damn. I thought Texas would be way ahead. Here in WA it’s legal open carry and concealed with a permit. And the permit takes like a week and like 80 bucks.

After training for weeks to get my LTC I decided not to do it. I recently watched a video by a retired officer who explained that all these licenses CC, LTC, OC are a form of gun registration. The unfortunate side to this is that when you are pulled over by law enforcement dispatch informs the officer on scene that your a licensed holder which has caused many issues for citizens due to the fact that there are a lot of officers who don’t believe citizens have the right to carry guns! These licenses are a blatant INFRINGEMENT on the 2nd Amendment! Texas LTC pretended legislation, (Statute) needs to be challenged in the courts! “The RIGHT of the people to have AND TO BEAR ARMs shall NOT be infringed.” I do appreciate how these officers have explained how they will infringe on the people rights to bear arms!

From a tactical stand point open carry is stupid. The last thing g I want bad guys to know is I'm the one they need to worry about. I've met way too many people that open carry like to show off and act like a badass. I agree with the folks that say the 2nd allows for both concealed and open though. If you are carrying open just to intimidate you shouldn't carry at all

The 2nd amendment - the only amendment in our constitution that we have to pay for to exercise. (unless you're in one of the states that honor and respect "....shall not be infringed.")
