I wish there was some kind of "prep" with my attorney prior to being deposed. I truly do not understand why the defendant's attorney in this deposition that I experienced would ask irrelevant and intrusive questions to a personal injury case that I brought. I feel like I'm being held in some kind of psychological hostage to intrusive and irrelevant questioning. It truly sucks.
I am sorry you feel that way. So typically if they are bringing up other wrecks it is for the injuries. If they are bringing up the personal injury for the same claim, they want to know if there are other forms of money you will be receiving. Good luck.
Maybe everybody should just follow the law. And if you’re called for a deposition, maybe you should just tell the truth instead of trying to weasel out of the truth.
As for the deposition. Well the problem is it's adversarial. I've seen enough depositions and trials to see that the lawyer asking questions ask in a way to get the answer they want even if it's not completely accurate.
I hope it helped, it can be nerve racking. Just remember to listen to the question wait for a second or two make sure they finished asking the question and then respond. You know most of what they are going to ask. Never guess if you don't understand do not worry about saying that. Make them ask a question you understand, they will. You got this. Good luck! Ty
