I just stopped PPI's after 4 yrs. I stopped because of the latest news about long term use. In watching this video, I think it's entirely possible I have a different type of reflux. I have many other symptoms that have been going on for years. I plan to take note of all the things I've just ignored thinking they were something else. Your video has really helped. Thank you.

I was just diagnosed with silent reflux. I have the throat congestion/inflammation symptoms. I had a reaction to Pepcid. I became horribly fatigued, drowsy, and depressed. I got off it, doubted myself, went back on it, and had the same experience. I got off it again,, and, again, those symptoms are fading. But I'd love to know more about this form of reflux and how to tackle it without drugs that made me feel worse.

@@DianaZ46there are lots of doctors saying these PPIs are safe taking them long term 3-4 times a week! The problem is taking them like twice a day 40-80mg for 20-40 years… that is what i have been suggested from my gastroenterologist… i take personally twice 40mg a week and 20mg so in total 120mg per week..will check in a few months again

A very slow weaning process is the key. I'm doing that now but if you come off too fast you will het too much acid and your esophagus will get inflamed.

Rebound acid reflux is very real but I have a hard time believing coming off the drug causes too much acid.

I was recently diagnosed with LPR. My ENT actually told me not to take PPIs with their list of side effects. I’ve been cutting out acidic foods and drinking an ungodly amount of alkaline water daily and it’s helped so far. I also incorporated Reflux Raft at night and my throat has started to feel better. I did have a few questions: 1) How long did it take you to start introducing trigger foods back into your diet and when did you know it was time to do so? 2) Do you still sleep with a wedge pillow after your recovery? Is this a lifetime thing? 😆 3) Can you do more LPR-related videos? Words cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for finding you Molly! Your channel has been such a huge help for a gal who thought her entire life would be full of bland foods forever. You give me so much hope for my future & recovery. ❤

And me please. I have Lpr symptoms with recently diagnosed hiatal hernia. I have been struggling to recover from laryngitis symptoms as a result. Doctors are saying I have to take ppis for my throat to heal. I do not want to take them as the symptoms are awful. I have changed my diet, sleeping style and so many other things. Any more advice I would really appreciate.

I have lpr, barretts, hiatal hernia. Am in 2 40mg ppi a day, and don’t want to be however because of the barrets and 3 drs insistence I am on them. I asked if could be low acid, usually no unless a senior which low motility etc. I don’t have h pylori. My symptoms have improved but still get sore throat and raspy. I do take gaviscon with some alginate (Canadian) at night rather than the h2 inhibitor prescribed. Found it helped better than h2 inhibitor.

Still here still suffering. Inflammation at the top and bottom. It's awesome! I never ever want an endoscopy again. I've had two and a billion h.pylori tests lol Thanks for this, I've obviously got silent reflux (with rare but ocassional heart burn) Guess the mix of PPIs, Antacid/alginate + Stopping smoking! is my answer! Yes I need to know the types of acid reflux. My gallbladder as removed over 20 yrs. ago. I had an endoscopy done. I had a lot of inflammation in my gut I took a PPI for 6 weeks. I was told that O can come off. I now take Pepcid or Mylanta. But my stomach not esophagus still bothers me. I need help.

I had heard that PPIs can slacken the LES, which is counter productive for reflux. Also that low stomach acid can also affect the LES. Is there a way to counter this effect? I was put on PPIs a year ago without any real discussion or exploration, and I'm suspecting low stomach acid and slow emptying may have been key, perhaps resulting from stress. I have been working on lifestyle and nutrition since which has been very helpful, and am trying to address the root cause of stress, but would now like to wean myself off PPIs. What do I need to consider? What do I need to discuss with my doctor?

I took the alginate and still had lpr symptoms. Heavy meditation and deep breathing seems to help a bit but the symptoms are still prolific. I got an endoscopy done very recently and luckily no damage has taken place from the reflux. Still need some answers though.

I have been dealing with this for years. Alingates don't work for me either. You are going to have to eat a super bland diet for the rest of your life to relieve symptoms. It isn't going to go away though. You will still get itchy throat and burning but not constant. I am sorry, but I have to be the one to tell you because everyone is trying to make money. Not me though. Your LES is most likely damaged to the point of irreversible damage. This is for life. I have pre cancer and it's getting worse because of this disease. I am looking into something called SARCO POD. I had enough

@@AlejandraGarcia-ho3lq I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You can live a satisfactory life provided you stay on a strict diet low in acid. You are still gonna feel it but instead of pain it'll be annoying discomfort. I've done extensive research on this condition. Doctors and suregeons don't know how to repair the LES. And it is a fragile mechanism. Nevermind SARCO. It's a suicide chamber that engolfs you in Euthanasia. It as legal in Switzterland for anyone that doesn't want to live anymore. My pain gets me to that level. Where I just want to end the suffering. Don't be crazy like me lol. You aren't alone. There are ppl who have irreversible damage. No one likes to admit this, but it's true. I hope you can remain disciplined for the rest of your life. I am trying myself. Take care.

I’m from the U.K. and I’ve had long Covid for three years and a few months ago started with severe bloating and reflux. I’m in so much pain, because of the bloating and acid. I was given double dose lansoprazole and famotidine and things haven’t improved so I stopped taking them. I’m awaiting an endoscopy and having my poo tested. I’ve changed my diet, to a healthier Mediterranean style. But I just don’t know what to do about the bloating pain. It’s off the scale, as bad as having contractions and my tummy gurgles all the time. Any advice would be amazing. Thank you ❤️ xx

If you have to take a PPI or H2 blocker, do you recommend one over the other? I was concerned about the Alzheimer’s reports with the PPI‘s so when my doctor wanted to put me on that, I asked for something else and they gave me the H2 blockers. They minimize any pain, but I still have the pressure in between my shoulder blades.

I recently stopped taking pantoprazole as I have been taking it for almost a year because I had a suspicion my symptoms of lpr were because I had too LITTLE stomach acid and sure enough my sore throat is starting to go away and I’ve been feeling so much better! Some questions please because the stuff you are saying are not very clear and i''m trying to understand exactly what to do you from your videos: 1) So if you have lose sphincter, small hiatal hernia (1.8cm) with GERD but a bit of pain under the rip (also not very often) but with LPR symptoms more frequently, do you recommend PPIs? (btw the endoscopy showed inflammation on the esophagus and gastritis) 2) If you have lose sphincter does not mean that acid is always coming back to esophagus? 3) I live in EU and reflux raft is not available, is gaviscon advance safe to to use long term?
