I like Deadpool for different reasons. I love the humor but what I love most is how much he cares about people. So much so that he’ll be annoying to push people away because in his mind everyone who gets close to him dies or is hurt. That’s why I love Deadpool
They did him right in X-Men 97. If a character is to die and they die in such an amazing way, they were respected. They could've killed him off screen and not give him one of the best lines of the season.
@yo-kaikid1925 the Rogue stuff is how it was for a long while in the comics....until recently when they tied to knot. It is frustrating. It is how some relationships are.
@@TonkaJay i guess i should have specified but i meant her thing with magneto which i dont think was in the comics. it really felt like she just never respected him until he died which was really annoying.
@@romansochacki7678 It’s not weird at all if you’re paying attention to anything about the character besides her looks and know anything about gay culture.
@michaelmammano-cheydleur2651 I guess I wouldn't know then. I'm just saying, though, most male fans of female super heros were first intrigued by how attractive they were drawn. DC's Power Girl is a perfect example.
@@romansochacki7678 1) I would posit the majority of male fans of female comics characters are queer, because if you’re focusing on arched backs and boob windows, you’re not really a fan of those characters; you’re a fan of tits and ass. 2) Do not quote the deep magic to me, child. I was there when it was written.
Yep, every Wolverine fancast is some 6ft+ charming/handsome dude and its ridiculous. These people claim to be "true" Wolverine fans yet are fancasting guys like Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles, lmao. Henry Cavill and Jensen Ackles should be fancasts for characters like Cyclops, they shouldn't even be uttered in the same sentence as Wolverine.
Nightcrawler's my favorite, but i do wish the films would give him more writing than "new/foreign guy that prays" Each of the animated series that he appears in writes him perfectly
@@arc4859demonic/dead sister, brother made him betray his friends, briefly joined Magneto out of grief, how they ended the relationship with Kitty Pryde.
And he stills takes shit from quite literally everyone for doing the shit he did as Juggernaut even tho he was literally manipulated by Illyana (that shit was borderline character assassination for Illyana btw)
Beast is my favorite for the same reason daredevil is my favorite marvel character: opposites meeting in one person. A blind catholic lawyer who dresses up as a devil is super on the nose but in a subtle way that doesn't beat you over the head. JUST like how you SEE beast, you hear his name, and you think "this is about to be the most uncivilized smelliest mutant i have ever seen." And then Kelsey Grammer is just reading a book being a senator or whatever. Hes amazing. I HATE that hes like a villain character now, if the mcu ever pulls some shit like that i will do something irrational i think.
@DrOttoEdits and I'm only just remembering he doesn't even bring him up... I really could go on and on about beast, I hope he does another one of these I love these ones
@DrOttoEdits like I love that BECAUSE of his being a big blue fur ball, AND being so educated, there really is no other mutant that should be the one to speak for all of them. The ONLY time I could see beast being a bad guy or villain is maybe if they've ever done a story or maybe do a story in the future where they introduce beast as one of the brotherhood of mutant members and then he becomes sympathetic to Xavier and the xmens way of doing things bc from their perspective both have merit, but then maybe magneto goes to far or idk SOMETHING like that I don't think magneto would be the right villain to "go to far" maybe Mr sinister or something like that could be a cool villain that employs him before he joins the xmen. Xmen genuinely has some of the best marvel characters out there now that I really think about it. First class is a masterpiece, I only wish the beast makeup lined up more with kelsey Grammer and the DoFP look. I'm also glad they brought Grammer back, but the cgi is gonna take some getting used to lmao
Sentinels lol sorry had to, but nightcrawler has been my favorite since I discovered him as a kid in the 90s and yea the x2 opening was the tits, so is his big scene in the animated wolverine and the xmen where he teleports spirals limbs away
Jean Grey superfan here! Jean does/did in fact go by Jean as her superhero code name for a long time. This was mostly because of the confusion surrounding Phoenix, since Jean had originally been replaced by Phoenix and then absorbed the Phoenix later (it’s complicated). Basically the writers gave up and everyone would just call her Jean.
I think part of it is because Marvel Girl isn't a 'good' name. Phoenix goes way better with her fire powers. When she wasn't the Phoenix anymore, it didn't make sense to keep calling her that but they didn't like Marvel Girl so they didn't give her a code name
Gambit fans on their way to constantly remind everyone that Gambit is their favorite character and obsess over every aspect about him. Myself included.
Ryan Reynolds is the only person who gets to have Deadpool as their favorite character. Jokes aside, I do really enjoy the occasional Deadpool, and the last three movies have been great, but having him as your absolute favorite chracter is kind of sus.
It's crazy what those fans like. I actually listened to them for a bit and bought "Deadpool kills the marvel universe" and boy.. sometimes, when the writers try making dark humor, it's not funny just f*cked up. Having him appear with others can be cool but I don't feel solo titles are a good look for him
@@The_Car_PenI guess I'm gonna be that guy. Deadpool is a really fun and deep character when given to a writer who understands him or wants to go beyond the surface. Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe is pretty cringe cause it was meant to be a big spectacle run, and Deadpool oddly works best when the writer tries to be more intimate. When I think of Deadpool runs that make me like the character, I think of runs like the Joe Kelly run. If you REALLY want a better taste of the character, check out Joe Kelly's first run with the character.
Eh, I love Deadpool. Memepool is fun on occasion, but I am very much of a “tries to do good but he is really mentally fucked” Deadpool. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is the definitive Deadpool storyline.
What I like the most about the X-Men movies is the fact that they never tried to follow the MCU's formula or its tropes, especially after it became a trend They never relied on nostalgia, the tone always kept consistent, and they always focused on the present And Dark Phoenix kept that way They kept their sense of individuality. Even the score was different in each movie
I think the movies are entertaining, and the books can be pretty funny too and I can say laughing at the jokes hasn't made me want to assault anyone, same as how watching Jackass as a kid didn't make me want to prank anyone or do dangerous stunts, you can enjoy something and not want to use imitating it as an excuse to be a dumb ass
@@NarrodJeech-f3qyeah exactly! What he said abt Deadpool fans really annoyed me as a huge Deadpool fan myself- it’s legit one of my biggest hyperfixations and maybe Special Interests, but I’m nothing like how he described in the video. Every fandom has weirdos that unfortunately more often than not make people incorrectly and hurtfully stereotype said fandom. Take Furries or even TMNT for example. TMNT is a lifelong Special Interest of mine, and even tho I’m not a weirdo fan, I’ve been called that a few times, and it’s seriously pissed me off
As a life long Cyclops fan that has had to defend his opinion on the matter for his entire life, I wholeheartedly agree with that whole Cyclops segment lmaooo
I like him for his ride or die attitude, just the sheer amount of wild shit he's been through, how he tries really hard to be a good dad, and I'm a Spideypool shipper.
4:08 "Nightcrawler is the one X-Men character that gets treated well consistently by writers." Except for Pryde of the X-Men and Ultimate X-Men. The former for being a Cosmodore and the latter for being a jerk to Colossus or Iceman I think.
@SonOfLaughter07 No, I've read the comics. There, Quicksilver is one of the Avengers, joining around the time Hawkeye joined the team, with previous ties to the Brotherhood of Mutants, who sure, are X-Men villains lead by Magneto. Pietro himself was never on an actual X-Men team in the comics, or, at least, not for terribly long. He was on a governmentally-sanctioned X-Force team, but even there he wasn't a permanent fixture, always doing his own stuff The Quicksilver in the Fox movies is wildly inaccurate to the character of Pietro in the books. I believe that including Pietro in the list of X-Men just because he was on the team in one adaptation is wrong, because it's not what he usually is the vast majority of the time, be it in the comics, cartoons or video games Edit: I should also say that him being inaccurate doesn't make him a bad or uninteresting character, comic book Pietro is a major jerk. Still, I believe that my point still stands
I remembered that my favorite character was Colossus and locked it in before the video, and now I’m just sitting here reliving childhood trauma and coming to grips w/ the fact that I’m probably part Russian
Where is the rest of the original cast ? :( Like I get it nobody has Beast or Angel as their favorite, but Iceman,... This guy has been the goat through both the early comics and the films.
I've been a Cyclops fan since the first X-Men cartoon. And though Marvel trying their hardest to make him a villain. Cyclops was right is far more true than Mangeto was right.
lol Yeah it’s funny because they tried their “hardest” but definitely not their “best”. They just kept inadvertently making him look good and those against him look bad
5:05 TL;DR- For a time, it was either that or Phoenix that she went under. The attitude was that Marvel Girl represented her younger superhero years and she grew out of it. Marvel did try to bring it back during the Krakoan Era, but fans hated it. Longer Explanation: It was Marvel Girl from the 60’s to the 80’s. It became Phoenix in the 70’s, but was retconned to be a doppleganger. By the early 90’s, she dropped Marvel Girl and just went by Jean Grey. Then, in the late-90’s, her daughter from the future dies and Jean takes back the name Phoenix in her honor. Then Jean dies and is irrelevant for over a decade. Then, she finally comes back again and goes back to just Jean Grey for a brief time. Then, she goes back to Marvel Girl by the time the Krakoan Era starts. She becomes Phoenix again at the end of the Krakoan Era and the beginning of the new From the Ashes Era……. So, as a Jean Grey fan, I can tell you that her fandom accept her being called Jean or Phoenix, but hate Marvel Girl. Edit: Also, there is the secret other option for any male character in comics of being a fan because gay’s love hot guys. Just sayin’.
I honestly could not stand him in most movies, I wanted to, but he just annoyed me so much. I liked his iteration in X-men Evolution a lot though, I don't know what they did but I instantly liked him which was very surprising to me. For the first time I found myself cheering for his relationship with Jean and just loved his dynamic with Kurt and the other kids. Happy to say I finally like Cyclops and I also feel for him bc his powers would be so fucking annoying to have irl
Preach. OG Cyclops fan for life. And yes, I loved him even when written and portrayed poorly. Now everyone loves him because they get a glimpse of the awesomeness that I've been reading about since a kid. But they're bigger fans. 😅 And he was right. The bs writing of that storyline woke me up to the agenda pushed into comics. His struggle at that time is a stark reminder to anyone thinking differently than the loudest amongst us. He was right in soo many ways.
It really was fucking hilarious that they just kept trying to paint Cyclops poorly but they did such a poor job at it that it just kept making him look better and those opposing him look worse
1:39 so there’s this comic where wolverine explains that what’s worse than being stabbed, shot, ect, is when you heal from it. Having nerves killed when you’re damaged is one thing, but having those nerves flare back up is worse
As a Deadpool fan the community around him scares the hell out of me. I really enjoy the themes used in his story. Sure he’s silly, but I relate to him a lot. I enjoy his story, his character. Seeing his flaws. I’m only partway into Joe Kelly’s series for him, but I appreciate that he has emotions and struggles, and I hate that everyone just percieves him as memey. I’d like to say I don’t have a stick up my ass, but I’m also not a 12 year old stinky boy. I still enjoy his silly shit and I don’t whine and complain about the Deadpool game, I’d LOVE to play it honestly. I can still like him being treated unseriously as well as his serious aspects, and genuinely appreciate the banger storylines he has.
My Top 5 X-Men in order: 1. Storm -The best X-Men. The main character for a majority of the Claremont run. SHE IS THE BEST CHARACTER and they constantly misuse her and her powers in almost every X-Men adaption. She’s a goddess! She’s finally starting to receive a bit of a renaissance! And I love how they’ve been portraying her with Natural hair in the comics lately. 2. Jean Grey- She mostly goes by no code name. She’s gone back to Marvel Girl a few times but right now she’s Phoenix. She finally accepted that she basically created the darn thing and it was her all along. She’s also quite the self righteous b**ch which is always fun! She and Storm also consider each other sisters and a piece of media outside of the comics (X-Men ‘97) finally acknowledges that! 3. Emma Frost - Stylish, a very strong telepath who had to work for what she has, hardly wears clothes. Need I say more? She’s amazing and her interactions with Jean are always fun. 4. Monet - A rich black Muslim mutant whose powers are literally super strength and perfection! I need her in these movies stat. The only representation she has outside of comics is that weird 90s Generation X movie that made Jubilee white. 5. Sunspot - Another hog rich black mutant but this time he’s from Brazil! They need to do more with his character. Hopefully X-Men ‘97 treats him better in the second season because I love him in the comics. He’s another character outside of the source material who’s been misused quite a number of times.
No lie, watching Hugh Jackman as a kid really set the tone for the kind of men I find attractive, and his age is doing nothing to slow down my attraction to him.😅
@@cocojlly1375 exactly!!! I totally agree with you 😭 I just watched a clip of him when he was in the kitchen with Bobby in X2 and said, “he start my love for men in tank tops like that” ☠️ I’ll always love Hugh
getting attack at the start of the video and getting it very much accurate, that hurts man (a wolverine's fan) anyway joke over, it was so funny, loved it lmao
As a night crawler fan another reason for me personally is i think hes one of the best religious characters in media. His episode in the 90s cartoon is my favorite episode of the marvel fox cartoons. Hes a wholesome boi :)
I loved Cyclops from the original X-Men trilogy but I was in the trenches when I met other X-Men fans and they hated him. To this day, he's still my favorite X-Man and one of my favorite superheroes. Also, X-Men '97 and X-Men Evolution were my favorite iterations of him.
6:24 I really don’t know why people hate this line, it’s an intentional letdown that alludes to her seriousness and initial lack of humor in that movie, which paradoxically makes it funny. It’s like what you’d expect when a German person tells a joke
I saw this comment once that said the line was meant to embarrass toad because he and the brotherhood believe they are better than everyone else, and she’s telling him he’s just like everyone else.
I thought he would go through and name a lot more people not just the main core members, I was really hoping to see someone like sunspot or even longshot but they’re always overshadowed and sunspot especially is barely even known
Rogue and Gambit are tied as my favorite I can't choose which one I like more, and the reason is as you'd probably guess because I grew up watching X-Men The Animated Series 😆
If we’re talking about the movies, it’s Wolverine. If we’re talking about comics, it’s probably a tie between Nightcrawler and Iceman. I like the smack-talkers who still know when to be serious like Iceman (definitely not deadpool, man’s only KIND OF serious when it’s his crew in danger.) Kurt is such a nice guy with his friends, he’s a religious guy, and he’d be more than happy to help anyone in need regardless of the situation.
tbh, Jean Grey's superhero name was indeed Marvel Girl, but it officially changed to Phoenix when Claremont took over the X-Men comics. in the comics the characters including her, quite literally say she is now Phoenix and no longer Marvel Girl. glad i could help (plus, no im not a Jean fan, im actually a Storm fan 🫡)
Me, being a Deadpool fan before the movie came out and liking his comedy masking his tragedy being called smelly by RU-vidr: *Spider-man walk of sadness and shame.*
Deadpool and Nightcrawler are my favorites, and about that Dp section I have no choice but to agree, his "fans" would get absolutely CLOWNED ON by him, because all they know is his movie version so they can laugh at the crude humor and dick jokes, when he has a shit ton of depth and is a tragic clown archetype in the comics. Still love the movies tho, can't deny XD
Jean Grey (Phoenix) and Iceman have always been my favorites. Gambit might be tied with Jean though for my all time favorite mutant. I remember growing up and always telling people why Gambit should and can be considered an Omega Level threat. He has no upper limit yet is always said to be exclusively Alpha Level because “his upper limit hasn’t been discovered or pushed far enough”
I mean of the ones you mentioned here Cyke's my favorite (has been since I read some random X-Men First Class comics as a kid), but in the end it's always Laura Kinney. I loved her when I was a tiny kid and she came out as just "X-23" in evolution with no real name, I loved her when I read her solo comics and X-Force as a depressed teenager, and I love her to this day as a full-fledged superhero.
