On paper Kenshi seems way too difficult. But once you get the muscle memory down about holding R2 or R1 he feels so good and is getting hella meterless damage

I use Reiko for the sole reason of his animations, I was a Baraka main at first got to top 800 then switched to Reiko dropped to 4000 but sticking it out with him

I love the way scorpion feels in this game, doesn’t feel cheap at all, just feels right but a small buff definitely wouldn’t hurt

I agree with most of the characters on this list. Except Raiden. Idk what Raidens you fight online, but I will always get fatalitie or t-baged cause they get a 40% every hit. 😭

I’m a smoke main, personally I play him because I always liked the character, and it was since mk9 that I couldn’t play with him (triborg doesn’t count), I just missed playing with him and was ready to adapt to whatever his playing style was going to be

I actually have a lot of fun with Reiko, I only use the projectile to build meter tho, mostly I’m just trying to do my dope command grab combos.

I've watched couple of your videos but with this you finally got me subbed not that I play it that much but this was just informative and really fun!

Great video! I look at Reiko as a tactical player. In my opinion, not every character has to be combo heavy and be considered boring. It's just a different playstyle. I love seeing other players play him at a high level. It's all relative.

Ashrah main here. You are right, she is not a hard character to play, she basically has 1 combo that every one of her good buttons cancels into. Stances are a gimmick, she’s just a push good buttons and win character.

I'm not in the majority of sindel mains. I had mained liu kang and scorpion in mk11 and didn't want to repeat it this game. I genuinely tried different characters and just kind of clicked with sindel. she isn't extremely overpowered and shes a little difficult to play, which i liked. I wanted a good challenge but also be able to have fun and win whenever i deserved the win without using a crazy overly powered charcter.

As a shao main I’m loving it. I find him so fun in this game even though he isn’t great. Sure I’ve punched a few controllers so far but it’s because I have a short temper not because of the character.

As a Johnny Cage main. You can't beat white boy swagger. What? You beat me 10 times? Well, you won't beat me 11 times.

I’m ashrah main and I’m about the opposite of that lol she is an amazing character but I’d never downplay that at all. I think Sonya benefits her combo game a lot. But I think she really blows up Johnny. I think she’s a great counter pick to the top tiers. Thanks for the great content bro!

I’m a reiko main and I love how boring he is. I was intermediate at mk11 for the whole life cycle (Demi god peak) I said reiko was perfect to learn this game because combos would be easy. That plus strike Throw mix and my fundamentals carry me against most people.

I love Li Mei, my only request for buff or quality update would be to make active frames for lantern to start sooner or to adjust the way 2nd lantern calls can eat your input on certain kombos. By eat i mean she will not call a lantern whatsoever, she will just do a back 2 or whatever the number is for triangle. I'm fine with the 3 lantern max, but that input eating is unneccessary to me if it was intentional. We all know there are double and triple lantern kombos with kam assist, but solo is when the input eating happens. There's a difference between calling 2nd lantern after the 1st lantern explodes immediatly after called and when its on field for a few ms. Easy way to test; in corner position > JI3 (x) > stand 3 (x) > lantern > press any button to start a juggle after lantern hits > try to call 2nd lantern. You'll probably have about 1s or so before you can another lantern.

I was a Kotal Khan main in MK11, Cyrax in X and Sub/Cyrax in 9. I'm obviously a Rain main in MK1. I want to preface this with i think he is very good probably A Tier in this early meta but has clear weaknesses that i feel most are not aware of because of lack of matchup experience and lack of labbing him, there are not a lot of Rain Loyalists currently. Definitely more to be discovered but feel he will be dropping a bit after people learn the matchup which is normal for most characters. He doesn't have neutral moves, only his Down 3 reaches but is -13 on block and his sweep knocks them down. Most characters get a button for that range. His overhead overhead is 28 frames of startup, it does have a throw cancel at 10 frames but it's stubby. I use Stryker Kameo combined with water beam cancels (feel free to look at my channel to see the combos and cancel pressure) Very heavy input, pretty hard to learn. Stryker grenades covers most of his issues, i can throw out grenades to steal turns, make stuff safe, extend combo damage, cover gaps, stop opponents from abusing farther reach in footsies. I've been saying Rain was damn near top tier (A to A+) since day 4 after official release. I just don't want him to be considered S Tier or broken. Nothing he has is broke and i can prove it. On my channel i show you how to punish the Rain/SubZero "Unblockable Vortex Setups" where ye freezes with sub, uses charged water beam into ground toilet into his double overhead. You simply delay wake-up into UpBlock to punish the second overhead. I honestly hope they don't nerf the characters and if they Nerf Cyrax plz don't mess with his functionality, change the regen of the meter or reduce chip, i understand he is very strong Kameo but Nerfing characters/kameos functionality will start the waterfall of Nerf Everything into the ground like 11

I’ve missed smoke since MK9 and I just love trying to figure out more ways to mix it up. There sure are some terribly toxic Smoke mains out there though 🤣.

Reptile is probably one of the more honest characters in the game and actually well-designed because of it. Even when it comes to kameos you feel like Reptile has a good selection to choose from since they can enable him in different ways.

I'm Kenshi main in my case I'm excited to discover new mechanics and routes even if they are difficult, trying to analyze matchups and other things, even sometimes I use shujinko for fun hahaha. And I love to fight with good people who make it hard for me, to find out what mistakes I make and so on, I had a long time without having fun in a fighting game but MK1 is giving me a lot of fun 🙌

If Kung Lao didn’t have a cheap armored move I think it’d be fine to put him in yellow flag. It’s definitely the dirtiest thing he’s got. Just keep in mind though that Lao is really stubby. He has NO far reaching/advancing normals. Also, ANYTIME he whiffs a dive kick in front of you, he’s going into a down 3. Just let it happen and block lol

Reiko is super fun to play honestly. If your constantly spamming shurikens then that shit isn't fun for anybody. I just feel llike everything with reiko hits like a truck and i love it. I agree he could probably use some buffs in other areas to open up more possibilities.

Smoke just looks fun to me. I've never played any MK game online and I was thinking about using him along with Reptile.

I’m a smoke main and I started off with smoke/sub zero and I got tired of running into sareena so I mix it up and go back and forth sometimes. I run Ethernet so I don’t try to get cheeky combos off of WiFi lmao. Overall he’s a great character I love the mix ups he has. His cancels when they start getting seen more are about to be crazy tho.

Li Mei doesn't combo off of her armored move, except in the corner. Even then, the scaling is so high you top out at like 20% unless you spend multiple bars, both kameos AND FB, then you get like 30%.

As a Reiko main, let me explain why, slide grab... when you nail someone with that slide grab and ground-pound them there is no better feeling the world.

Disclaimer: I don't trash talk. I be too busy try'na survive out in these cold streets as Sub-Zerizzo wit my Lin Bae Frosty. I'm not even that good myself, but tbf, it's a little bit deserved if you're losing to Sub-Zero wit a character that can deal over 40. It's completely deserved if you're playing ANY character that can deal 50.

I was hoping for Kitana buffs at first in the beta but after getting to lab her in the full release… she really doesn’t need that much help. If she got a 50/50 she’d be broken lol. I’m enjoying her tons and haven’t lost and thought it was the characters fault. She can be played ridiculously safe and has a great hit confirmable mid”s”. If you put her with Jax she has some super dirty stuff

Kung Lao has been the same playstyle for the past 10 years. The only real difference is the spin is now on Kameo so we don't have the option to blow up yolo spins. Edit: Just got to the Kitana bit and she's who I switched to from Reiko. She seems really good in this game. Not sure who's asking for buffs on her, but it's probably just because she doesn't have mix. She's got some good range on a few of her normals, decent damage, some pretty good projectiles, and her strings are super easy to hit confirm. If I were to buff anything, it would be to connect the fan nado on connection with an airborne opponent. If you poke someone like smoke out of a jumping attack then you don't have a guaranteed chance to land the fan nado and you watch the fan go THROUGH the opponent. That seems like it's more of a bug, though.

Since you put both my mains in green tier (Havik and Nitara) and because of what you said about Reptile...I'm thinking of picking him up within the next two seasons. Which was my plan anyway Everything you said about buffs. No-one needs a buff. Give smoke negative recovery frames on overhead teleport...thats it! 😂😂

i play smoke because the first time i played a mortal kombat game was mk3 with my brother on the original xbox and i remember seeing smoke peeking from behind the trees on the living forest map. i never played any other mk that had him in it so i finally get the chance to in this game.

As a shao main myself, i dont need buffs. I dont mind the lower damage, i dont mind the lack of 50/50 combo starters. Hes just so much fun 😂 Edited: only change would be making his knee a mid. I think that's his biggest weakness.

Preach Diff! Preach! We aren't saying Baraka mains aren't good players but we are definitely saying that we would make a lot of money betting on the fact that if they switched to any other character they'd lose a hell of a lot more than they do.

My two mains are Smoke and Kenshi. I used Smoke with Kano at start but I've moved into using Sereena.

As a forever Shao main, that really made me smile. Shao ain't ever been great in his playable appearances, except MKvsDC but that game was its own monstrosity. But something about playing the big bad boss of the series and just running down these combos that feel like they hurt even if the damage isn't always there and it's unsafe who cares it's fun and I'm gonna stay there all day everyday. :)
