@@_Lumiere_ that was why I was offended actually, sir I'm doing you a FAVOR making friends with Maru and marrying Sebastian. He can play the dad or whatever, Sebastian leaves and is happy, Maru gets a friend, and they get money from my farm😂 so I was really offended by his attitude in that one heart event
Sebastian is always my fave (mm emo boy), but stealing Demitrius’ “little girl” (sir she is a grown woman) away from him is always satisfying. Let your daughter live her own life, weirdo
But that whole 14 heart event was just so... Forced, I guess would be the right word? A brainless monster that exists only to kill isn't worthy of sympathy, let's be real. Now, if she had killed a Shadow Brute, that would've actually had some weight to it, despite the fact that you've probably killed over 100 of them at that point.
I chose Abbigail cause it was love at first sight the moment i saw her game console and how she destroys at egg hunt the rock eater and the sense of adventure are just bonuses
Penny is cute, kind, loves kids , loves animals, loves her mom despite how she treats her and redecorates your bedroom to make it cozy. Penny is the best girl hands down
She was my first wife in stardew, I loved her sm. But I've played through a few times and dated other characters and she is just... boring, compared. And tbh... she doesn't tolerate people with different opinions on kids than her and that gives bad vibes. Tradwife, boring, intolerant, and her storyline is dependant on the kids. This is coming from a reformed penny lover
@@emilyyvetteYeah that's kind of the 2 main issues with Penny. Traditional to a T and so adamant about her opinions that you either agree with her or get the duck out. It's... not that interesting especially since she doesn't ever really grow as a person. Then again, growing isn't always positive I guess, romanced Shane is one hell of a dumpster fire.
Relax, it's just her opinion, people on the internet think that their opinion is the only one that matters, when all of them do, I might have a different opinion from you, but will I roast you for having a different opinion? Hellllll no.
Tbh, Haley is a bit of a golden retriever herself after you get her hearts up and especially after you marry her. Honestly, if you give her a daffodil or two in the first days of the game, you barely get any of her bad dialogue. It's like that person never even existed lmao.
I was wondering about that! She was one of the first people I gave gifts to and I got lucky by giving her only things she liked, so I never saw the mean side of her
@@lilyawoodburn I felt kinda duped when I first started playing this game a few years ago lol. I always assumed that Haley was shallow and bitchy, so I went with Leah. But Leah felt very lackluster as a spouse. Kinda distant and not very "spouse-like." I only later learned that Haley turns out to be more interesting, wants to be a farmer with you and is very affectionate.
@@_Lumiere_weird. I felt duped by the game because I always encountered her on nature walks either in the woods or at the beach and if not then she would be chilling in the park, but when I went to talk her suddenly she was all “I hate nature and want to move to the big city!” And I’m just…. Huh? Your actions and your words do not match and I dislike this. (But fortunately you can do no wrong in my eyes Haley, because I love sunflowers and after spending my first springs money on sunflowers I quickly learned that I wouldn’t be making a profit on my first harvest and the only thing they were good for was giving to Haley.)
@@PlutopianSociety You could kinda view that as being an interesting part of her character. Because as much as we like to meme about her route being "I can fix her," she sorta just changes on her own. I think she was already into nature and the feel of life in the valley, but she felt like she needed to break out of it to follow some superficial dream. So she kinda lied to herself, despite enjoying her surroundings.
I don't get the "has no interests" thing with Penny. She clearly has love of literature and history that she passionately teaches Jas and Vincent about it, and from their dialogue, it clearly has had a great impact on them. When she is not teaching them, she is constantly reading and is one of the few people who love to recieve artifacts as gifts, calling them "special". The problem of her being "boring" seems to be more of a money issue as her mother literally drinks away anything Penny could have put towards her interests or improving their quality of life. But if she marries the player, I would love to see her develop a bit more to see what she would do with a disposable income.
@@SacredToasti didnt really had a problem with Pam since through sone cinematic it shows she does care about Penny, but yeah Penny just seemes like such a kind person, thats what i liked
@thelemondropgirl2140 yess penny is so sweet but the george scene is always such a gut punch for me :( i know it comes from a place of wanting to help but thats just not how you go about it. i would also say its also offputting how you have a chance every cutscene to lose friendship with her simply by not sharing her exact viewpoint on things, but tbh she just like me fr on that front 💀
I went for Hailey on my first playthrough, but after witnessing the plight of redheads in fiction and considering the under-appreciation of decent teachers , I decied to court Penny the second time through. Can't say I liked her as much as Hailey, but her confession scene was more memorable to me at least.
Haley is a great option because she’s so sweet and supportive of your farmwork. She will feed your animals, repair fences, water your crops, make you pancakes in the mornings, and spend her time around the farm taking photos. I might be biased considering she’s the only bachelorette I have gone for so far but I love her character development and how much of a farm gal she turned out to be!
I’m pretty sure most if not all spouses will cook repair feed animals and water your crops if you keep them happy because Leah dose those things as well but what they cook is different since Leah gives me coffee salad or common Spring crops as well as mushrooms
@@TheFuckIsaLife you are totally right! at the time I thought that those tasks were specific to each spouse but I guess the only clear difference is the food they make.
Oddly enough, Penny is actually one of the most popular bachelorettes among guys. She's the pure, traditional, conservative gal with motherly tendencies from the get go. She also appeals to guys with an "I can save her" thing going on, basically the male equivalent of the female "I can fix him" that attracts so many women to Shane.
Those are pretty strong attractors ngl. The idea that she would make a great mother and actually genuinely needs you has a very powerful effect on men. She wants a family and a nice home to settle down into, but also would like the means to experience new things and maybe travel, something a wealthy farmer could support. So she is a very logical choice. I personally lean towards Haley, since she is so affectionate as a spouse and shows genuine interest in farming and that kind of life after you gain some hearts with her, but Penny is probably the only other choice for me, otherwise.
I'm a guy and I do get why some guys like her, but myself I'm honestly all here for the Penny hate. Girls dislike her because, in addition to just being bland with no interests, no points of connection to really set her apart and draw the two of you together, she is not a girl's girl. All of the other bachelorettes (except Hailey, but, well, she's just on a whole another level of spoiled and problematic) seem like they don't go out of their way to avoid contact with other girls? If you're not a chatty kind of person, e. g. Maru, that's completely fine. But Penny just gives this "I'm distancing myself from all the other girls so I can have my knight in shining armour" vibe. And this is what really puts girls off about her, the way I see it. And some guys are hard-wired to like women who intentionally separate themselves from the rest, with no friends to get into the picture and ruin the guy's pleasure of being the first to etch an impression into that blank slate of a woman. Plus, as I've already said, she just really needs to develop some interests other than kids, work and having mental breakdowns in a sauna. That just doesn't cut it for me. I would want a partner who can remain their own person after committing to me and not regress into clinging to their dear saviour like a spare appendage. Thankfully, my forever beloved Emily knows better than let go of what makes her a person of her own. The "yes, honey, it's time for my sugar-free, organic, locally-sourced breakfast" girl. The "let's raise our kids to be the happiest hippies ever" girl. I adore her.
Penny is literally such an angel. I love her from the botton of my heart 😭 The way she treats you compared to everyone else is crazy. Even when she sees you looking trough the garbage she makes a sad face and asks why we're doing that, as if you she felt bad for us. She is terrible cooking, but named her recipe with our name as a sign of our friendship... All the dialogue with her is adorable, and the way she treats Vincent and Jax is so--- She accompanies them home even though the city is a safe place (it was her own dialogue) The only thing let's say I didn't like was her scene with George, but I forgive her for just wanting to help. Penny supremacy 🛐 (Sorry for my bad english, i wrote too fast)
@@ChihuahuainaTrenchcoat I am currently married to her, and there is a dialogue where she says that she always had the worst nightmares but here she had peace
For me, I love Emily because there's something so attractive to me about her constantly upbeat and optimistic attitude and her "head in the clouds" view of life. She's just full of spirit and I love that.
same, also my character has lore, and they are actually a mutant with octopus dna that was found in the stardew sewers. i was adopted by Grandpas daughter, and yea. due to my backstory, a head in the clouds type girl is perfect
I like penny because her view on life is poetic, she is a bookworm and loves giving back to the children, she reminds of belle in her library, and she speaks such sweet sweet words to me
I just loved the character of Abigale, she has such a silent charm about her, then she moves and does all that cute shit for you. Not gonna lie I get a bit mushy playing the game because I refuse to leave the farm house without either giving her a kiss goodbye or admiring her while she plays
I love Penny because she's super cute. I like how she's always kind and how she often get lost in her on thoughts when she talks about something she likes. She's also very calm and introvert, which is something I like in a partner, since I'm calm and introvert
The fact that she hates prismatic shards is just such a power move it can also mean that you’re a speed-dater and want to date someone in Spring of year 1 lol
unpopular opinion: i like haley better before her personality change. she was shallow, hated cleaning and loved shopping. perfect, then her personality goes to 0% once she’s married, like a robot, it was weird
As someone that chose Abigail for her purple hair, being a gamer, and is allergic to grass… I’m embarrassed for being called out so precisely. I still touch grass though😭
@@Cinnamorollscientistthat’s all I married her for, completely forgot that she plays video games, I just connected with the fact that she likes to escape her life and be alone in the rain and really explore the beauty of nature
Abigail is just- ugh the best one to marry for me. She likes video games, has purple hair, cute, and loves to have a fantasy rpg adventure!!?? ALSO, SHE HAS A SWORD! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?
i liked penny because she seems more mature than the other bachelorettes and i appreciate that, especially because id like my eternally youthful children to be raised right
Only their mother will spend 3 days a week with them and 2.5 hours on the other 4 days because she either walks late or stays late at work. She spends more time with Jas and Vincent than with her children.
How dare you talk about my wife Penny that way she's so sweet!!!!! I picked her in my first playthrough because of how cute she is and I loved seeing her get so excited about books!!!!
Excuse me? Penny is kind and makes a wonderful wife and mother. She donates her time to teaching the local children and cares for her mother. A good woman is a good woman, and Penny is one.
Leah is literally everything you could want in a gal. Country, hard working woman, but isn’t afraid to be artsy (she is literally an artist afterall) if you marry her she repairs the fences so they don’t break down as often, she gives you coffee almost every morning, her dialogue is extremely sweet. Shes a real partner.
Hot take: I really think Emily is just a better version of Leah. Leah is still great, but Emily just has everything she has and more. Moreover, her actually being magical like the player is what sets her far apart from the other partners IMO
@@dmin5782 except that Emily is literally insane, immature as hecc, and a total pushover. Im not dissing you for liking Emily, but there is no comparison between Emily and Leah except that they both like art.
Penny's just nice, and she's cute and shy. She cares about others, and she cares about being knowledgeable and building up herself and those around her. I like her because she shares alot of my values, and I really enjoyed the deep talks with her about the future. Also, my mother and sister, who I am both very close to, are teachers and readers, so maybe I'm just used to that kind of woman in my life.
I love Penny because I feel like she would be an amazing mom and Im a family man. She also has the most patience of any bachelorette. I feel like we could work through anything together .
Sweet and down to earth is "boring" when abrasive, head-in-the-clouds chicks with Kool-Aid hair are all the rage. Gimme the trad girls all day, every day.
@@thethrashyone I never get the Emily slander tbh. She is perfectly content with living a simple life, and she is levelheaded all the time when dealing with others.
Oh contraire Lumi! People like me who are lifelong Emily lovers couldn’t be less interested in or more confused by her crystals and meditation. But we love both love each other for our own interests.❤
My first playthrough I chose Abigail. Gamer, loves swords and adventure, scared of spiders, etc. All things I can relate to, so she was an easy sell for my first farm. Nowadays, Haley is my usual choice.
I have never felt so personally called before. I 1000% chose abby because of her purple hair and because you can play prairie king with her. And I am legitimately allergic to grass (neighbour mowed their lawn yesterday and I was sneezing up a storm).
Tbh I’m a wiki person that hear Abigail was good marriage so I wanted her, but then I learned she loved amethyst, believed in ghosts, and a gamer girl. One, my favorite color is purple, two, my favorite gemstone is amethyst, three, I love ghosts, four, video games rock, five, she immediately became my favorite, also I think I might have a thing for girls with baggage so yeah.
Leah, because I liked how both her and the player character left corporate life. Escaped it successfully and are now thriving and supporting each other’s goals.
Penny is literally so sweet, she even do the teacher to kids because she want the best for them, she is not really a teacher but she still do it, she care about others, even after married her she is so sweet, i don't understand all the hate for her, she live in a abusive house and EVEN after this, she still love her mother and forgive her, wtf
