Julia Duffy starred in the beloved 80s tv sitcom, Newhart. In this video, I discuss her career leading up to that role, as well as what she's been up to since that show went off the air in 1990. #juliaduffy #newhart #designingwomen
I'm watching Newhart again on RU-vid and enjoying it immensely! The comedy was so great. It didn't pander to the audience, as too many shows do now. Bob Newhart was a comedy icon, who was a master of timing and understatement. I'll miss him, he's irreplaceable...
I have watched Newhart so much I can almost talk the dialogues. That and Andy Griffith were always my two favorites I watch it every night until I fall asleep, lol...
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Newhart. Such a really great sitcom, more memorable for its finale than the show itself (30-year-old spoiler alert: It was an eight-season long dream sequence). Julia Duffy brought a whole new flavor and spark to the show as Stephanie. Not that the Leslie character was dull but she wasn't used all that often as a plot device. The show just got better from season 2 onward. And even today, in 2023, Duffy still looks fabulous for a 72-year-old woman. She aged very nicely. She's been happily married to retired soap opera actor Jerry Lacy, best known for his role as Reverend Trask on the cult hit Dark Shadows, since 1984, so good for them. Thanks for the update, Steve! 👍🏻 And speaking of Newhart, can I please suggest you do a "Whatever Happened To..." profile of William Sanderson (aka Larry, one-third of Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl) in a future video?
I'm a sitcom fan . I'm a 65 year old black man from Chicago. And I love Julia Duffy in Newhart . I didn't watch it in the 80s unfortunately, but I have now seen every episode on Prime Video. And the show is wonderful. And Stephanie, by far is my favorite.
i think i was maybe one of the only jr. high kids that LOVED newhart. ☺️ i actually remember really liking the character of kirk (steven kampmann), julia duffy’s first boo, before she went for uber preppy michael (peter scolari). michael slowly earned my loyalty over kirk. it helped that kirk left the show. out of sight, out of mind i guess. julia and peter really did have crazy acting chemistry.
I loved Newhart!!! Jennifer Holmes was just a weaker actress than Julia Duffy. She shinned in that role. I’m not surprised she got a permanent role on Newhart. She said Designing Women was the worst acting year of her life. She said Newhart was the best.
Never watched Newhart but couldn’t stand her in Designing Women. She wasn’t playing the most likable person tho so i guess she did her job Shes fine in other things tho
