After last playing for the Boston Bruins in his 16th year in the league last season, this former first overall draft pick seemingly disappeared overnight. So that begs the question: whatever happened to Rick Nash? Well, watch to find out!

I agree with Robin Halpin and Michael B! For me he seems to enjoy himself as a hockey fan. He does his thing and he does it well. Nationality or accent is not relevant. He has passion for the game, he does a good job with his research and in the end that's what matters.

First off you deserve way more subs! I just love these 'What Happened To' videos. I never realized how consistently good Rick Nash was! 50-60 points or more for many years in a row! I cant help but think how much more amazing his career could of been had he been on a different team with different line mates while he was in his prime

Nash was a monster in his days. CBJ was a one line team when he was there, he put up decent numbers while playing all the hard matchups. If he started his career playing with a stronger team, he'd be closer to a point per game player. Nash is the true and sportsman definition of "power forward".

Rick Nash is a very humble and nice guy, and a player with a lot of individual skill and all round qualities. I like him more as a person than a hockey player though. His individual stats are incredible, but he has never been a good team player in my opinion. When he doesn't have motivation he becomes lazy, especially defensively. His skating speed can vary from superhero speed, to grandpa speed (depending on his confidence). He is sometimes a very inconsistent player, so Columbus Blue Jackets did a smart thing to trade him. They went from a team with one star player, to make the playoffs almost regularly.
@robwest2813
@robwest2813 5 лет назад
Maybe at Columbus man but Nash was hands down the best two way forward the Rangers had. I’d take him back today! He’s not a Crosby but he is a problem for teams anywhere on the ice, except maybe at goalie... I haven’t seen the proof there.
@FreddieBear1
@FreddieBear1 5 лет назад
Robin Martin Rick Nash has never been the best two-way forward for the Rangers. If he was, than Rangers would of done better as a team. Probably had a better chance to win the cup. The "one half" maybe (or power forward like he was mostly known as) because he was always motivated to complete a play or crash the net he knew he could score or get a point on. However defensively and sometime offensively (depending on the mood) he was usually lazy, late in situations and out of position. He also had a huge advantage getting loads of ice time, and was regularly on the first or second line. I don't blame fans to expect more of him. I surly was one of them. I was super exited when he arrived, and the hope was gone after the first season. Instead him getting traded, I saw the the wrong players disappearing. To be fair he had some seasons with good +- stats, but I can't say that was because of his contributions defensively. Nash made many bad line changes (getting off the ice just before opponents score). It wouldn't effect his +- stats, but effect another team mate instead. I call that selfish! I could easily pick other players who I want back instead of Nash, including players who got traded from Rangers to Columbus Blue Jackets. I can just base it on a combination of point production, efficiency, teamwork and salary. If you look at how good Columbus became after they got rid of Nash and what ex-ranger players who started contributing for that team, than you will understand where I'm coming from.
@HBKshowstopper
@HBKshowstopper 5 лет назад
As a Rangers fan, I can honestly say that Brandon Dubinsky is the only ex-Ranger I miss having on the team that is now playing for Columbus. Nash developed into a useful defensive player and penalty killer towards the last season or two with NYR. To some, it may have appeared that he was lazy, but he did hustle to get back on defense for the most part in the last few seasons of his time with NYR and had a few shorthanded goals as well. He wasn't as physical as he could have been given his size and had a reputation as a non playoff performer (which I don't feel is warranted for the most part), but unfortunately he was mostly a non-factor in the series against LA in the 2014 Cup finals. If he had won a ring that season, people would not label him as a perennial playoff failure similar to how Ovechkin was prior to last season.
@clorygaming
@clorygaming 5 лет назад
However they can't win a playoff series or make a run
@ozzinine
@ozzinine 4 года назад
I agree. Interesting take on confidence too. I can’t help but think, then Ranger’s coach John Tortorella’s coaching style negatively impacted Nash’s confidence and in turn played a part in his “lazy” spells.

You gotta feel bad for the guy, he wasted a lot of his prime with a shitty team and he had a career ending injury. If he had a good team around him and if he didn't suffer from a concussion he would've had a much more successful career and he could still be playing today.
