Thanks Dougo for another great video. It was interesting to watch and I know frustrating for you to get fixed. On my. I have watched you enough to know that these bin operations can be very very frustrating. Everything is so close together and a lot of the bolts and such hard to get tools on and all that. Glad Eric could come and help get the bin system back together again. From what you showed us, it was not an easy area to work in. But in the end you got it fixed and moving corn. Yeah!!!!!!!!! Thanhs Dougo for showing and sharing with us the repair process. Oh my. Struggle bus for sure!!!!!!!’ Thanks for every thing Dougo. You take care and be safe. Hang in there. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

Weld the pulley to the shaft! Why use bolts to secure a pulley to a shaft anyways? If the shaft breaks you still have to pull the shaft out to repair it. Maybe use larger augers to empty the bins?

They make small very thin spring washers with little teeth that lock into the threads that you lock onto those bolts to hold them in place so they won’t fall out and you don’t have to deal with that problem again.
@farmalldave

That’s a great idea. Except in that situation, you’d need to lift that transition piece over the bolts then. Not sure it would be able to go high enough to clear 🤷‍♂️

The next time the grain system installers are out there ask them for a weld-on inspection door on the side of the auger tube right over the bolts. Installed grain handling systems for years, very common solution. Guys that have been doing it for a while would probably have put a door in there at the initial installation.

Did you folks ever think about going old school with those bolts and nuts.. You know figuring out where the nut should tighten down to then putting a hole thru the bolt right after where the nut would sit once in place and putting a retention wire thru or even god forbid a carter pin. Much less chance of that bolt ever working loose ever again. Something to consider when ever you have to do one of these jobs again.
@deanschaffran3258
@deanschaffran3258 6 месяцев назад
Round head square shank = 'carriage bolt' For the next time, maybe find some "push nuts" or thin external retaining rings to go on to keep the bolts up in place rather than the fish-line.
