WHATS IN MY BOOKISH TOTE | my everyday essentials 

I am 40 and a lifelong bookworm or “bookie” (think 'foodie', but one who loves to read), and I couldn't agree more with you about the cuteness and functionality of totes. Not only are they cute and multi-functional, they're durable when made well and they're affordable! I'm a minimalist when it comes to stuff I carry daily. My sunglasses and face mask, wallet, phone, keys, a pen, mints/gum, chapstick, hand sanitizer or anti-bacterial wipes and a keyring clip-on pepper spray/alarm (Last item, I hope I never have to use!). My travel-sized Bible or some other book if I want to be "extra". Hand lotions and perfume oils, I will put on at home and keep at home. Any electronics such as e-readers, laptops and iPads, as well as planners and journals are also more of an at-home thing for me. I only carry more things if I'm going out of town with family. Food and drinks aren't allowed on my public transit, so I tend to just drink my water when at home. Snacks, I'll carry with me as well, but only if I'm in a rush and I'll save them for before I get on the bus to go home, if I feel peckish while waiting. Same for a bottled coffee I might buy with my groceries if I'm truly thirsty and can't wait. As a woman with cerebral palsy, when I'm not using a sling backpack or a wristlet, I'm reaching for my tote bag. Doesn't matter if I'm shopping, going to the library, or out of town. And with so many themes, you just can't miss. I'm a Christian, coffee/tea drinker and a cat person/cat mama, so those are ones I go for the most, but you can't go wrong with cute, cartoony and funny either. I have some Sanrio-themed ones that I absolutely adore and have recently started reusing. My only minor gripe being that I wish more totes came with a main zipper to close them, for the sake of a sudden rain or if you find yourself in a pickpocket-prone area, but folding the top over and/or tucking it close to you also works. Plus, I tend to have my bag hanging on my walker anyway, so drops or spills aren't usually an issue. Minor things aside, it doesn't stop me from using them and I'll gladly take wristlets, sling backpacks and totes over a trendy and expensive 'Look at me, I'm rich!' designer bag or its dupe any day!

I love totes! They are way more practical than a purse and lot easier to store. That's why I have soooo many 😂
