We went to the top of the St Louis Arch when I was a kid back in the 70's. My dad had such claustrophobia that he wouldn't get in the elevator car to get down. We stayed up there for hours while he gathered the nerves to get back in the elevator.

Woo, Kirby! I sold them, own 1 myself, and continue to celebrate the brand at every opportunity. I stopped working at the dealership only because it got shut down due to tax evasion. A quality machine that will last a lifetime. It really says something about a product that hasn't advertised in a little over a century, yet still sells everyday at premium prices.

Mom and dad bought a "Filter Queen vacuum cleaner from a travelling sales man in the late 1960's. When we kids had colds, or our allergies kicked up, mom would use the Filter Queen as a "humidifier." The vacuum also served as a humidifier. Put in some Vic's Vapo Rub in the fit container, set the vacuum in the center of the bedroom, the scent filled the room. The Filter Queen looked like a dwarf R2-D2!

My uncle used to live in the St. Louis area. He took my Dad, Mom, brother and me up in the Arch. My mom hated getting in that pod car. She said it was like getting into the tomb of doom. We had a great time. We then went to the Cardinals:/ SF Giants game at old Busch Stadium. We missed the Dodgers being in town the day before. We also went to Jesse James’ Hideout at Merrimac Caverns off old 66....I-44. Great trip that everyone should do in their life.

The western US gets most of the publicity and exposure because of cowboy movies. Next on the fame list is New York City and a distant third is Florida, but most of America is just rural farm land. The largest topological feature is the Great Plain, which lies between Ohio in the east and the Rocky Mountains in the west, Texas in the south and north into large parts of Canada, too.

It must have been in 1968, when I rode to the top. I had just turned 13 during a long cross-country road trip with relatives. I remember looking down from the tiny window & seeing the shadow of the top moving across the ground. At the time, there was also the largest steamboat river boat moored below. The S.S. Admiral was a HUGE silver thing.....& we took a cruise that seemed to last several hours. The entire bottom deck was full of pinball machines, and there was a dance floor & dining upstairs. I remember we did the 'Hokey Pokey'. LOL.

Anyone pointed out the great chemistry in these videos between Adam and Carpetbagger? With him lurking in the background and surprise appearances, Carpetbagger comes off like a main villains assistant in a cartoon film. His expressions also add to those vibes. And this ain't a putdown for Carpetbagger either, just a comment on how well the synergy works in the vids.

About to get stupid real here. 6 years ago I became bound to a power chair as I have Muscular Dystrophy. My relationship with my father has been strain in recent years as he is a viet nam veteran and was subjected to agent orange in viet nam in 1969. My sister is developmentally disabled and am physically disabled. My father has always blamed himself and its been difficult for the family. I have watched your videos for a long time now and must say that your adventure on Route 66 has inspired me to do the same thing but with my father as he is now 70 and I am 43. God bless what you do for people, you are an inspiration for many many people, thank you for that. I wish you the best in life and thank you for what you have done for mine.

At 4:45, I'm amazed you were allowed to shoot anything on the property! For unwary travelers (Route 66 and otherwise), that's the notorious Indian Harvest Trading Post. Many, many bad experiences have been reported by visitors. Just do a Google search of the place. How and why they stay open is a mystery.

As a child growing up in the UK i was fascinated with the USA. I remember making as a small child a clay model of the St Louis Arch at school, I think maybe I had seen it in 'Planes Trains & Automobiles'. In 2016 at age 28 I took the elevator to the top of the arch and fulfilled a childhood goal. I picked up one of those mini arch souvenirs while I was there, I am looking at it now.
