the warriors paid Klay MAX money for 914 days of ZERO play. about 4 months short of 3 full years of pay for absolutely nothing, but the kicker is they gave him that extension AFTER he got hurt. If Klay, who is indisputably a shadow of his former self, is unwilling to take a lesser contract and a lesser roll to remain with the warriors at this point in his carear, then the warriors owe him nothing. Period.... A similar thing happened with Thomas on the Celtics.....he played hurt to help them...then instead of paying him, once they knew he was hurt, they traded him and he never got the bag. Klay should be incredibly greatfull that the warriors ate that contract for the last 4 years.
I don't see us having the best 5 starters in the NBA this coming year. We went to 2 squads, with a lot of success. With this scenario, CP3 is the best guard in the NBA for us. and Klay starred in this role. When his shot wasn't falling, he went to other things(driving, lobs, defense, 2-pointers, etc.). His role on the starting team was scoring, and that pressure wasn't good for him. We just need to not play him so much on defense, as it wore him down. His defense was improving towards the end, but is this good(i.e. playing him so much on defense) for Klay? I also think this role is the best role in the NBA for Klay. This way, both Steph and Klay can still star in the NBA.
Ego is what makes these guys who they are. Theyll live and die by it. Klays went thru a shit Ton of bullshit past 4 years man. It makes zero excuse for his antics and how he’s recently come off as ungrateful, but with it being pretty much certain that he’s leaving to another team. It puts a whole different perspective and lens on this matter for me, shouts out to Killa for the great memories man. Recency bias is a bitch, let’s not forget the good times. Since when have we ever seen a dynasty fall gracefully?
If Klay is not willing to take less I‘m totally fine if his gone. I love the guy, but as stated above the warriors did right by him, so its his turn. If he wants to go…go, but do it with some class.
The injuries robbed us and him. He was making a leap when he got hurt in the ‘19 finals. Tragic we didn’t get to see a fully formed Klay with Steph at his extended peak. He Would probably have 5 maybe 6 rings instead of 4 if those injuries didn’t happen.
@@jaxfor3 ofcourse, same iggy. Guess what he accepted a lesser role and became 6th man just because it was best for the team and he was never really paid throughout his tenure at the Warriors yet his impact was way way bigger than whatever his cheque was worth, everyone who knows can confirm this. Iggy would never behave like this. Klay seems a bit out of touch with reality.
It’s easy to be ‘selfless’ when you have a sneaker deal, max contracts and are allowed to average 30 and take 12 3’s a game. I’m not saying this to disparage Steph, I’m saying this to say Klay has sacrificed a lot for this team, he’s being ‘selfish’ and petty now because this team spoke to him like they’re family and when Klay needed them they’re not treating him like family.
*covered by the NBA handicap insurance but it still goes against the cap. Warriors didnt have to pay him, NBA insurance did but the warriors did pay hefty luxury tax over the years that not just about Klay its the whole expensive payroll including keeping Curry, Draymond, Poole, GPII and some of the other guys making good money for the warriors.
I agree. He should do like duncan did. Duncan took pay cuts just so hes assured san antonio got a good team. This team did look out for klay when im sure another team wouldnt. Now when its time he wants to go.
been a subscriber since 2016, and also a patreon member... even when I coulnt watch the games I always always watch your breakdowns because your takes are always spot on... im so happy to see you grow Alch KEEP IT UP GOAT!!!!!
I've been saying this for a while.... In order for Klay to be happy playing basketball again it'll require a new scenery. The expectations in the Bay are too high. Klay is a different player today and more than likely will never be the old Klay again.
Losing Klay frees up no money to replace him. Pray Moody can be a starting SG after Kerr has yo-yo'd his minutes and sign a vet with the mle. Losing 300 3's when shooting is at a premium, don't know how that gets replaced, but the young guys all deserve more minutes anyhow.
With respect, what's the need to presume that the Warriors are entirely to blame for the Klay situation in even a "passive aggressive" way? The default is to blame the team because no online influencer/commentator wants to blame the player and burn that bridge. Klay has been a wonderful player for the Ws and deserves the HOF. On the flip side, he has been paid for 2.5 years at a very high rate while injured, and now is upset because phyiscally and performance-wise, he doesn't measure up to where he thinks he should be $$$-wise in his own mind. He's frequently been sulking and taking bad shots at critical times. As sad as it is, it's probably just time for both sides to move on w/o passing much judgement.... unless of course something concrete becomes irrefutable.
To be real I can see it backfiring on Klay. If he goes to another team, where there aren't any plays ran for him, he doesn't have the greenlight how does he like that? At this point Klay is a 6th man bench player. He isn't a starter anymore.
Going to miss Klay in the squad as well, wont ever forget the best moments in the regular season and playoffs. One of the best shooters of all time, one of the best warriors players of all time. Until then, we wait until the moves are done since it aint over.
Warriors offered Klay 2 years, 48 million. He turned it down. That's fair. He might be able to find some other team that'll give him more. So be it. He's just not the player he once was. Warriors have to move on.
The warriors weren’t going to pay him and he knew it. Since the beginning of the season klay has been rumored to be heading to Orlando. If he leaves let’s congratulate him for being paid and being happy. Klay doesn’t own anyone he’s helped the warriors win championships.
Finally We Get A Update On The Warriors From The Best Basketball Journalist Or Basketball Head. (Much Love To You My Brother I Love Your Channel So Much)🙌🏿🤎👏🏿🙏🏿🔥
I think Klay is good for a team like Dallas or Denver where he can get spot up looks while Luka and Joker is distributing the ball. With Wiggins regression he was forced to be a second option when he is probably a third or fourth option. When the team didn’t live up to expectations Klay got a lot of the blame which was unfair. Wiggins was terrible last year and the only media outlet that held him accountable was Gils Arena
And this is reason enough to bring him back. But I’ll gladly take him with the Mavs as well. But I don’t see him on either team. No room for his boat there.
The problem is that the Warriors had offered Klay an extension contract early on (don't remember but something like 2 for 48...similar to Draymond and Wiggins at about 24/year). Klay declined that contract--and The Warriors don't see Klay as a 24/year guy anymore. That offer is gone, and who knows how much they are offering him now...
They made him an offer, he rejected it. Bet on himself. All to have the worst year of his career. What yall want the Dubs to do with that? Up the offer?
I definitely think Dallas thought they had there draymond green with grant Williams and would call out Luka on defense but he also needs to score and he wasn’t cutting it good trade tbh
For the past decade I really believed our big 3 would be like the spurs big 3 and take less money towards the end to sign more talent. What’s happened these past 2 seasons has been nothing short of pathetic. At least Klay has the injury excuse. Draymond is just an unhinged asshole that seemingly loves dragging his team down with him. This shit is sad man.
IMO there is a pretty massive difference in terms of how Luka will be talked about and how Harden has been. Harden's had a billion no-shows in his playoff career and Luka is one of the few guys who seems to actually get better in the playoffs. I think the Luka conversation will be more like pre-Miami LeBron, where it's clear he's a guy you can build a title team around but the question is if Dallas can do it with some of the limitations they may have flexibility-wise.
The Harden talks are already over cause he never made a finals as the guy. They were already over when Luka had several iconic playoff series. The comparison is disrespectful at this point
To be fair on that last point about Dallas needing a Draymond type player...The Warriors had more than Draymond to start that "make him accountable" culture. The addition of Andre Iguodala began that, then Dray grew, and then they added David West who also helped build that culture.
Regarding the NBA Finals... Like I told my friends, "Flava Flav said, Don't Believe the HYPE"!!!! Dallas won game 4 in blow out fashion but it didn't mean ANYTHING... Don't believe the HYPE!!!!!
Love the idea of Draymond enforcing Luka but to be super honest. I think the moment Luka feels threaten for taking accountability especially from someone like Draymond. Draymond would be the first person out of the door in a trade. Saw that from Porzingis, Grant Williams.
Make sense for warriors to let klay go but they should have consider it before and maybe have traded him on last trade deadline to get something in exchange and not letting him go for free
call me crazy but short of Draymond, the mavs could use a guy like Marcus Smart. Enough talent to get respect in the locker room, defensive minded, and not afraid to get on his teammates. Hell, his presence was probably a big part of why boston's defense was so elite a few years ago. Also, it's more likely than not that if Klay leaves, the offense will look significantly worse than it did this year until they get more actual shooters on the roster. I think Moses can do a fine job, but they probably need two or three of him to close that gap.
Here’s a challenge for you to, perhaps, step out of your comfort zone. How about a breakdown of an Indiana Fever game? There are hundreds of commentaries on Clark and her impact on the WNBA, but I’d love to hear your perspective. Traditionalists will protest but it’s undeniable that there is fan interest in the women now. Look at Lively’s stats for the regular season; compare them to Jackson Davis. They are remarkable congruent, almost identical.
Alc, what do you think of the idea of starting Wiggins at the 2 and Kuminga at the 3? Probably still not enough spacing, but curious what you think of Wiggins playing the 2 (even in general, let's say we sign a SF). I still think trading CP3 for LaVine is the way to go
I can tell that most ppl have nvr gone thru contract negotiations. This is a normal thing for contract negotiations. Both parties are trying to gain leverage. Just got to wait and see what happens.
It's just time for Klay to move on if they're trying to win. I have nothing but love for Klay, but the team needs have changed. They have one of the highest salaries and are not making the playoffs. Adjustments are needed... Klay is the first dominoe. Sadly, they played the long game for the fans to flip on him like you've mentioned... instead of selling high and getting picks or talent back last year. Good luck in the next chapter, Klay... you're Warriors Royalty no matter what!
If Klay is moving on, what does that mean for Steph & Draymond? What if GS trades Steph & Draymond to get a great trade package to go young. Things are getting interesting. Go Dubs!
This may be controversial but look how Pelicans did Boogie after getting injured or Boston with Isaiah Thompson. Not saying they are the same players or those guys contributed anywhere close to what Klay has done for the Dubs. However, I can’t recall many teams offering a max bag after a severe injury like Klay had. There’s probably some cases but often times it’s seems Boogie and Isiah would be the norm.
Luka is closer to a ring than Joel. Luka made a Western finals and now the finals compared to Joel, rn he has a lot to prove before he becomes another superstar without a ring
I wouldnt have you as a Luka hater. The clock has started on Luka? They only have this team together since 5 months and made it to the Finals, where they werent expected to be. Then they lost to a team many are hailing as one of the best teams in the last 20 years (not me btw). Like you said yourself he is only 25 years old.. I think the issue with Luka is, he is fearless, boisterous at times and too focused on the refs. His defence can be shaky (never as bad as Harden though) and he plays in a system that is in my opinion too heavily focused on high pick and roll and isolation. Other then that, this is really not on Luka. The guy fights, he is clutch and he reads the game like few before him. Nobody is prefect and so isnt Luka. I remember when everyone was critiquing Jordan in his first few years. He would never pass the ball and force his shots. He couldnt win anything, he was selfish and so forth…. All i see is a player who is incredibel talented, wants to win and hasnt figured out that last puzzle piece yet. And so havent his teammates or the coach. But the Mavs run to the Finals was hugely successful and they would never have gotten there without Luka. There is a reason he is 5 times all NBA and deservingly so. I agree on accountability, I think Lively will grow into that person.
Seeing Klay leave would hurt but i can respect his decision on generation money . Mavs need more scoring . Luka can get better on defense but Jones n Washington didn't help enough on offense . Boston just loaded up on Luka n Kyrie . If guys could hit shots then they would have more spacing allowing Irving n him to do their thing with less help defense .
What if the Warriors, a world class organization with a robust PR team, is manufacturing all of this behind the scenes and we are all foolish hyping this news up because we have nothing substantial to talk about?
@@jcm7814 maybe but Curry is so nice man. Did you see when Green got ejected and Curry was trying to compete and his emotions took over. I don’t think Curry has a mean bone in his body.
@@jcm7814 he is. Sometimes I wish he was more vocal about shenanigans in the locker room. It’s obvious he wants to compete even at his age. I just feel he lets too many things slide because of this “loyalty” he has with Dray, Klay, and Kerr.
What's going on is Klay is trying to get as big of a bag as possible. Hopefully Klay can part with Dubs on good terms. Honestly, with the shit show, anyone who can jump off the boat can't really do worse than staying with Steve Kerr.
One dimensional spot shooter that couldn’t create his own shot when healthy but one of the true pure shooters in NBA history. Time to go Klay we need to rebuild so thanks for the memories 😮
This is why the new fans are so frustrating, creating your own shot doesn't just mean dribble moves klay had a really good turn around jumper that they could rely on when the motion offense got bogged down
New fans are wild too…. it’s def part of Klay trying to force his shots and create his own shots but when he’s on his best and bought in to the team. He was one of the and i would say best off the ball player. He could easily drop 20 without any dribbles. Don’t want another Kyrie and or Luka offense where it’s just two guys isolating. At least with BOS they pass the ball for the easier shot.
honestly if i am a new gm and trying to proof myself and got the warrior's seat which mike dunleavy is, waving klay and cp3 this summer is just easy decision to make. regarding mavs celtics series . from the very beginning it was obvious that celtics had a clear advantage. the only way to beat the celtics is to let them beat themselves! if it was Denver or wolves or healthy clippers they might have been able to do it , just play defense and stay solid offensively and wait for them to self-destruct. but with mavs it's like a guy with a shotgun against a guy with Body armor and a bazoka (luka and kyrie 1v1 scoring ability can never match the entire celtics lineup fire power only way to beat them is by playmaking systematic team like the warriors)
I wish klay would have seen all the money we paid him for the 2 years that he didn’t play. He could have taken a smaller amount that fit his current role and finished his career as a legend of the warriors but now he is most likely going to slowly wither away on some other team. I honestly will loose some respect for him, now is the time he could have payed back his team that stood by him when he looked like he was done and we got him a championship the year he came back.
What he did in golden state already cemented him as a legendary warrior. Mj didn’t finish his career a bull but that doesn’t take anything away from his bulls legacy
All I am going to say is fans, I dont want you to switch up on Dray or Curry when their time is up..... I get you guys want to see success and maybe it's because you guys are new fans who came in the Curry dynasty era after 2015. Keep in mind, Dray and Curry will also begin to diminish over the years and the amount of hate Klay got. I dont want to see that f*ckin energy on Curry or Dray. Normal for those guys to age and not show the same performance when they were at the peak.
Steph or Draymond would handle this situation better. Draymond for example after he won DPOY understood he was'nt as valuable to another team than on the Warriors so he took a reduced contract and came back, now he is reaping the rewards with another 4 year contract signed last year. If he was on another team, chances are that he would have gotten a bigger contract when he got DPOY but right now he would likely be struggling to get over 10-15m a year. That is being smart. Klay won us titles and he got paid with that big contract for his services. To award him another contract he is clearly not worth is overpaying, that ain't business, that's emotion right there.
They’re playing a game of chicken. Klay thinks he still should get paid as if he were the guy from 10 years ago and the Warriors know he has declined and was paid 2 years without playing. Dubs need a hometown discount for this to happen. I’m guessing $25M per year.
Klay has been the definition of petty lately. I’m sorry but he shouldn’t even be coming off the bench. Bad attitude on the bench, ball hogging, not mentoring the young guys
@@mhlengingwane4341 the same klay pouting around the bench and not celebrating when his shots weren’t falling. Lets forget about Steph trying to talk to him and him walking away
He received a supermax contract after he got injured, got paid for 900+ days without playing. Now he can't take a pay cut to have a better roster? We love you klay but this time you gotta go man
"Aura" is a weird way to say "ego". I like this channel but holy smokes is Alch not objective towards Kerr nor Klay. Klay's massive ego caused these problems coupled by the fact that GS and the fans enabled his terrible behavior his entire career Klay is one of the most overrated players in the history of sports. TAPE DONT LIE! Klay has NEVER been a star hes been a role player at best
Klay is carried by the Splash Brother and Game 6 titles. In his prime, sure he was a splash brother, but that was only 4-5 years, it doesnt apply anymore. The game 6 narrative is just untrue. He has maybe 3 great game 6 performances out of countless series. He has been straight up mid to bad in the playoffs since coming back from injury. Even in 22 when they won, he wasn't good
GS did take care of klay during his 2 year injury time with a new max contract. they could have backed off or dumped him. with the tax penalties other teams likely would have not given him the bag
Apologies I’ve already been using factor and don’t think I qualify for ur code…but anyone considering it…go for it! Their meals are delicious! Even my super picky meant n potato’s husband loves it (I eat his veg portion lol ) I heat up tortillas or toast bread to go with it.
