@@jerrykingsley6703 True! too cheap for current market. Not sure 100% of furnace but did not see anything cheaper than 500+. Cheapest #12 crucible on ebay I did see for $35 +delivery.

How long does it normally take for the different metals to melt down to liquid?
@igortrush4055
@igortrush4055 5 лет назад
@@isaac2990 It depends on several things - how powerful burner, how well insulated furnace and what is the metal. Lead melts at ~330 C, aluminium at ~660 C, copper at ~1090 C.

Jerry Kingsley - Hey guys on eBay I’ve seen the crucibles for that price and the Molds start at $4 heres a few links below . A #12 Crucible would definitely not fit in these devil forge furnaces the 10 kg furnace will only in my opinion really fit an #8(8kg )Crucible otherwise you wouldn’t get your lifter in to remove it safely And the biggest Crucible for the 4 kg furnace I would use is a #3 (3kg) for the same reason above. Molds can get quite expensive starting at $4 and going up to well over $ 100 although the most I’ve ever spent on a graphite mold is about $18. You always have the option of sand casting ingots for practically next to nothing And a lot of people make their aluminium ingots in muffin tins. I’ve also used empty food tins for small aluminium melts and just throw the tin out after 1 use when I’m finished. That’s not highly recommended but it does work. At the moment on eBay the 10kg Furnace is selling at $362US delivered and the 4kg Furnace is selling for $252US. Man, you are one of a handful of channels I exclusively never skip ads on. Your quiet processes, simple labelling, and just flat out zen production value has been the best thing since Primitive Technology for me. I love watching and taking notes or just unplugging and getting lost in the craft. This video just cements you in the #1 for me on YT. Education is key. Doing this for myself is now a goal. 🍻from the USA

Of all vids to miss, I missed this one! Uhg!!! I even asked these questions on a comment a few weeks ago!! Well now I have detailed answers! When I get the time and being that it's summer here and dang hot, I'll be waiting until December or January and start getting to work. I've done the calculations and I should have everything for the cost of $70.00 U.S. or less! Because I was a street scrapper and will be again soon. I have picked up everything for free except the molds, crucible, tongs and plaster of paris to line the furnace!! So minimal cost. Just some work and time!! THEN FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Thank you very much for most of my education, but just so you know I have and will again read in detail the safety and procedures, so you know I'm NOT going in half cocked!!! Cheers, My Friend!! P.S. I'll send you pics of my 1st pours, probably next year!! Who knows maybe even do a vid or 2 on RU-vid (But I doubt it)

What I have found collecting tools and accessories for my forge. (I'm new to the melting game). Nobody sells decent tongs for large crucibles. I truly believe it's a liability issue. I'll make some for small crucibles but for big stuff I've made 5" steel cylinder crucibles. With bolts welded to the sides, and large nut on the bottom rear for pouring. (All case hardened). Cant go wrong. No fumbling. Hook, lift, hook, pour.

I've been thinking about how to get this problem myself. So far what I've come up with is save all my aluminum cans and guy at work drinks a monster energy drink a day so I get his too. Other than I look for abandoned tvs and take them apart. You can also find old tvs that no one wants in the free section of craigslist. Some other ways of getting scrap is to call company or companies, especially welders, often have a lot of "trash" metal that you might be able to get at. If you know any electricians, ask them to save the excess copper wire they normally throw away. When people put stuff out at the curb they don't want, you could keep a sharp eye out and pick up the good pieces. I was driving in a neighborhood and found a whole giant roll of copper wires coated in plastic that was just going to be thrown away. I hope at least one of these ideas is useful to you : ).
