The reason this show resonates with me so much is the content and location. I literally used to hang out in Wagner Ps, Jeff Ps, Clinton Ps, Carver Ps, East River Ps,.. etc. I can literally walk from Harlem Cutz to my old high school in about 20 mins. Nyc can’t relate to upstate. We were more “ Boyz n the hood” rather than “Paid in Full”. We had neighborhoods and they had projects. Nyc maybe ghetto but upstate is the trenches. I think they over exaggerate how NYC doesn't respect upstate. Unfortunately as a borough guy who used to run up there back in the early 90s, I experienced alot of discomfort from some dudes up there because I was from the boroughs. I did well and enjoyed my experience with my fellow NY brothers and sisters.
