I think it's BECAUSE it's Saltzpyre's default class that makes it one of the best and most versatile class of his. FS made sure all of the default classes (or tried to) are versatile and good enough so players won't get screwed if they can't play a certain way well enough. Imagine if Kerillian's base class was Shade instead, can you imagine how much new players would hate playing as and with her? Look at Ranger, by far some of the best utilities in the game such as ammo generation, item generation, stealth, knock back, great damage, etc. Bright Wizard is still the strongest class on Sienna even after her DLC class released. Mercenary comes with THP generation, knock back, damage reduction, buffs, etc. And Waywatcher is the only one that can be argued isn't Kerillian's best class, but it does come with the easiest Special-deleting ability in the game and inexplicably a passive built in healing, it was definitely designed with new players in mind.
@bastait So I don't mind ranged classes, what is actually annoying is when you're primarily a Melee class and the snipers just shoot through you leaving the team without any temp health to build up
I think riposte for the rapier deserves an honerable mention. You lose out on the extra damage and it is more situational but when it is useful you can melt large groups of elites with ease
In all honesty, it's a hard-counter to Beastmen, moreso than the other two options, especially with R&P for melee. Every time you fire the off-hand pistol while maintaining a block, it procs "Parry", so if you're running Parry it's guaranteed unlimited BCR with every pistol shot, but you can still proc a "Parry" and therefore Riposte with every pistol shot while blocking. If a Bestigor charges you, you can block just before he hits, get the crit, and just skewer his head for an instant kill. It's the weakest option in the line, but it is in no way "bad".
Something I recommend (and I know I’m a few months late here) is to add M1 and M2 to your tag only binds. You press M1 and M2 all the time to attack, aim and block anyway, you’ll tag stuff on accident all the time. Additionally, every time you aim at or attack an enemy you’ll tag them, making sure you get your passive bonus. Like with tag on M1 every time you try to heavy attack with the rapier you’re tagging the guy you’re aiming at before the attack connects and you get the bonus. I’m pretty surprised I’ve never heard anyone else do this!
You are always doing the research that nobody else wants to upload, and it's high quality at that. Cheers to another good video, and I'm excited for more.
Don't forget that Chaos Warriors and Standardbearers aren't considered man-sized and they're pretty tanky, so the extra headshot damage isn't totally useless for non-boss fights either. If you happen upon a patrol with your rapier, you could make short work of the CWs mixed in there
I use to main WHC, but after playing more specialized characters, I had no idea what to do with him. Thanks a lot, and wow this video is fresh, just posted an hour ago
- if you're on the team, ALL tagged enemies (4) get 20% more damage taken, not just your tag. - wild fervour. It gives the entire team 5% more crit a "taggable" enemy dies. the enemy does not have to be tagged! basically its always up and increases the whole teams DPS. AttSpd for tag is the selfish choice, but very powerful,. Templar's choice only applies to tagged enemies, and its only 5% more damage. its strictly worse than Wild fervour. - Always prepared is 30% more ammo. its valid, especially with pistols, but its a playstyle kind of question. I don't really have problems with stamina, and I end up special sniping duty all the time. - in all my time playing this game, I never, never thought "if only my dodge was tiny bit longer!". WHC already has pretty high dodge weapons. I don't see the point. - Fervency, ironically, becoming more useless the more crit you stack since it basically sets you at 100% for 6 seconds. you can default reach I think 50%, and it has a huge downside in that it removes your abilities +crit to teammates. but if you want to end that chaosspawn NOW, take it and attSpd. wreck face. I think Ability uptime is worth more. or, 4 dudes hitting with 35-50 crit chance does more damage than 1 dude with 100 crit.
After watching I played WHC for the first time today, 3x with the 3 different weapon loadouts and had a lot of fun. Hook special is really satisfying when you interrupt a big overhead. Keep up the good vids!
-Rapier 2nd heavy one shots cw on cata with crit headshot breakpoints (Either with talent templar's knowledge, att speed + pw vs chaos on charm) or (crit power + pw vs chaos) -Rapier also one shots elites across the map with special attack -You can bind mousewheel to tag enemies easier -Billhook 3rd attack has a dodge function -You can outrun any enemy, patrol or boss using billhook 3rd att dodge + manual dodge on sweep and repeat
I like running the flail on my WHC. Take THP on cleave, flense, enhanced power, heretic sighted, charmed life, whatever level 30 talent you like (I like taking 40% cooldown on 10 enemies). On the weapon take the classic +attack speed, +BCR and swift slaying combo; take whatever ranged weapon you want, I like crossbow just because I usually end up being the designated special sniper for all tank teams, but you can also take a crit chance/crit power brace of pistols or even volley crossbow to shred monsters, in which case swap out charmed life for always prepared. Use heavy attacks on hordes to clear them, throw in the odd push attack for easy stagger. Use push > light > light for single target and armour. Hit whole ranks of stormvermin and beastmen to stagger lock and watch them die like flies. If you crit the swing at head height you might wipe them all out instantly in one go, I've done it more than once. CWs are sometimes an issue but teammates usually cover it.
The issue with Deathknell is it's *far* from being a 50% damage boost that most people think it is. WHC already does 20% more damage on headshot as a passive, and the 50% bonus only applies to **only the base headshot damage**. It's improved by power and other damage boosts, but all said and done it only amounts to 15% more damage on headshot. Less if you're just instantly slaying things.
15% is still quite a lot of extra damage for breakpoint purposes as long as you're consistent with it. Granted most people will run BoP and one tapping won't be as important, but still
Regarding the talents, I'm a 3k hour player, and I have to say, Deathknell is the only thing I run on that line these days. I have the skill that I can fish easily for headshots, and one of the things that makes it so good is you don't *have* to crit to just slice off most basic enemy heads, such as skaven slaves. Additionally, WHC has access to 25% Crit chance if you build specifically to crit (talents, props, kit, etc.), and 50% with Animosity, which means on your own you can enter coin-toss crit territory for 6 seconds at a time. I always aim for headshots, as should everyone who plays this game, but in my opinion, Flense is good for the beginning WHC, and Deathknell is a way better option for higher-skilled players, as the 50% damage increase enables you to take properties you wouldn't otherwise take, such as crit-power, which when built for it, allows you to 1SHS Chaos Warriors on Cata. For the Level 30's, the way I look at it when deciding what to take is does my team do Power damage, Damage over Time, or Crit Damage more? If your team is a Power based team with few or no crit-traits, Fervency will serve you and the team better, as Fervency also denies the crits normally afforded by Animosity to the rest of the team (An immensely important note not mentioned in most Saltzpyre videos, including this one), as if the 25% CC offered to each teammate is compounded onto WHC alone. If you're running a team that does significant DoT, I Shall Judge You All paired with Templar's Knowledge means every 90 seconds, everything around you that's getting DoT'd gets melted much faster (pair it with a Wildfire Unchained and watch patrols melt with no problem). If your team relies on crits for damage, you're better off being the Captain and ulting as often as possible, which is where the Unending Hunt is strongest. In terms of general advice, this is a solid video, but I would like to see your thoughts further elaborated on for mixed horde situations regarding what jobs people should have. I would also love to see a video about reading information given to you on the screen, because in this video you say "We have good special sniping with the Ranger Veteran" and based on the footage... no... no you don't. That RV had throwing axes. They're more anti-elite/boss than special sniping. Solid video tho. Good work :3
If you run Parry on the Rapier, hold block and spam your weapon special every blocked hit will proc the parry. Good for if you get cornered/ overwhelmed
Rapier also has increased headshot damage. I like to run guaranteed crits with rapier, with good headshot accuracy you can chew through chaos patrols faster than any other weapon, so long as you're landing your headshots. Also you can bind most actions to multiple buttons, so I have tag on left mouse click so I can just shoot enemies and they automatically tag.
If you need time to think and breathing room, spamming the rapier’s special whilst holding block means every block counts as a parry so you won’t lose stamina as fast.
Billhook really benefits from cast away, since you can push a lot more, with the eternal guard passive its more fesabile to spam push attack light against trash, but with elites it makes it hard, billhook is the most consistent and highest utility, it can stagger anything other than bosses and lords on deathwish, in a team setting on cata 3 its freaking amazing, it gives room for your elite killer on your team, and has high base armor damage, so if you miss the headshot, you can do decent damage on the body
Going back to deathknell You are pretty right in saying that it does lose its value When getting crit, kills in Melee But it has its place such as if you’re a brace of pistols user And your specific goal is to headshot enemies across the map with those things They’re not perfect But boy oh boy, is it fun to just pop heads in the middle of a fight dodging in between the enemies attacks it’s not a smart way to play Cause you can get stabbed at any point But I have managed to kill 12 storm vermin in like five chaos Warriors, and close range combat with my pistols And it’s fine I enjoy it immensely to be dancing in between attacks from both rat man and North Landers You make golden points on what which hunter does best Sometimes witch Hunter, captain can say fine I’ll do it myself He’s balanced, but not broken Truly a blessed character Unlike the priest, no ranged hammers, sleeping tools they’re not bad he does get a bit boring with that class though since you can’t dance in between things in the funny
idk. I have done solo runs with grailknight, waystalker, sister of the thorn and ironbreaker but victor just doesnt have any heavy hitting armor piercing weapon, not even as a warrior priest. The best thing he has are the shotgun pistols and those dont even work on WHC. WHC has less horde clear, stagger, thp, boss damage and elite clear than GK. WHC has less horde clear, boss damage and special sniping than bounty hunter. As you said he is a generalist but i cheer way more when i have a warrior priest or ironbreaker on the team than a WHC, i am also of the belief that ignoring solo-play full tank teams just do everything with the least amount of risk. I have seen footknight with executioner get more THP from stagger talent that the damage he was recieving without blocking at all, just spamming lights on all enemies except CW and bosses, a full team of THP generators like that with a sister of the thorn simply can't lose.
the highest damage potential is rapier with a fully charged headshot crit, though its rng dependant, but if you get one on a chaos warrior, the 2nd fully charge will finish him off usually, if not, flense will
i really think you are sleeping on how good the repeater pistol can be. witch hunter with the rapier can struggle to deal with crowds if things are getting dicey, and pulling out the pistol to very quickly cut a hole through the crowd can give you some breathing room. also its still accurate enough to just fire upon specials from middle range distance (and even farther if you stand still which gives you better accuracy) as you can just spam shots as fast as you want (in fact its the only gun in the game that allows you to shoot that fast) so not being able to 1 shot a special doesn't matter as much especially with witch hunt already making them take extra damage. just rapid fire shoot them a few more times.
I actually bind the tag to my left mouse button AND f. F for manual tagging and mouse clicking for random tags through hordes, saved me from some quiet hook rats and assasins when the noise pollution is nuts lol.
I bound my tag button on mouse scroll up, it works wonders. Mouse wheel is this weird button to use but it's incredibly easy and useful for so many things.
I actually have my "tag only" button set to mouse1. Yep, that's right. I'm so lazy and sweaty I changed it to left click. Yep, it does count when you are shooting your crossbow, the tag will hit before the arrow does so you're always adding witchhunter's 20% damage bonus to specials/elites.
in legend, you dont really need to crit-headshot to kill stuff. you just deal enough damage with your passive, and 140% damage from aiming heads- which mean you can just skimp over all crit boosting upgrades and just focus on surviving/breakpointing(though latter doesnt really make sense) i use resourceful without any crit boost so i can just rely on rapier's innate fast swing speed, to crit and boost my ult speed. with my ult on ready i pop it on certain times when i need that crit boost to kill some patrols, horde with random stuff, whatever, and then -40% cooldown per 10 enemy hit is also a good one to use since you use it the most while having hordes and with both combined you get it like every 30 seconds.
Any chance you could let me know what properties and traits you’d recommend to put on my necklace, charm, and trinket when running the rapier and brace of pistols
I am literally about to release a video called " X class is the best Class in the Game" I already got it recorded! Just commenting to prove I not copying. Good video btw
I like bringing always prepared and deathknell. Don't get me wrong the bill hook is great for killing bosses but if you can empty three full vollys of pistol ammo into the bosses head you melt them.
yes its best to spam heavy and the drrag heavy is rly good for hords. and best to play for death kneel and you can give around 200 dmg like nothing. i am 300+ lvl saltz and can aprove to a lot of things
It's from beating all Helmgart missions with him on Champion. If you beat all of them on Legend (or Cata), you'll also get it along with the black Legend outfit
I really like the dwarfs held shield bash... it comes with a hammer strike. I'm new to the game and have had trouble staying alive while learning what I can do in game (other than kill) so that with I've managed to stay alive really well That and paired with his smoke bomb for knockdown /knockback and being undetectable for 10 seconds is broken in this game lol I have less than 30hrs in game BTW.
8:33 i have my secondary tag button on left click, I havent played saltz yet but i figure tagging's important enough that i should tag whatever im shooting at or stabbing.
-Flense only apply bleed to first target -Charged heavy on rapier pairs nicely with riposte -Riposte lets you trigger swift slay at start of every fight -Maxing crit chance on character that have so many sources of it is a waste
Please do GK next. I dont seem to be able to make it as overpowered as everyone says it is. I have good breakpoints, I can go legend pretty confidently, but I seem to be getting hit alot compared to other careers and classes and I rarely have as high damage as people say I should. Thanks
I'm watching your video about DPS, but nowhere in any game if you talk about DPS will it always be Mage first, then anything can come, but the class you present will never have more DPS than the mage!
It does decent damage. Probably your best option for consistent damage if unloading the Brace of Pistols didn't finish it Don't think you really need +damage vs monsters though
whut. Bounty hunter is quite literally "single target DPS: The class". comparing a melee generalist and team-support like WHC is foolish. like saying Ironbreaker is terrible because slayer kills bosses faster. They have different roles.
@@IAmTheStig32 It straight up only outperforms WHC at killing monsters IF they have a purple pot, lol. I love BH, it's my most played career after Huntsman but saying it's more than a B (maybe B+) class is major copium lol
He is 100% in the top three. He's at the top of the top 3, lol. Between his kit having 4 perks, what he brings to the team, and his options for dealing damage, he's an absolute machine. The only thing he struggles with is monster damage, but if that's a problem you wanna rectify, crit-power on a rapier+pistol or the billhook slaps pretty hard.
@@SmGTwist Didn't expect to see Twist here! Btw what up with your channel? Can't see the videos. Merc could take this place. He has more team support and more reliable special sniping, less dps tho. The other variant is BW. Even tho she has no team support, she can output 2 or even 3 players worth of dps, which is useful to the team as well.
I will never understand why people claim 'x class is the best' when Unchained is in my eyes SSS tier. She does everything WHC does but faster, stronger, and better.
I don't like WHC tbh. It's hard for me to consistent hit those needed headshots + relying on the highly unreliable tag system sucks. Oh, you wanted to ping the hookrat? No, you pinged the ungor archer instead.
