The Welsh fan is a very traditional wheat weaving design. It's fairly simple to master and also comes in handy for more complex wheat weavings, as it's used for a base on many designs. If you've never woven with wheat before, you can get the basics here: • Wheat Weaving: Getting...
(Please excuse the crackling sounds. It's not actually wheat snapping, it's just the sound of the stems scraping against my tripod.)
Hope you enjoy this tutorial. If you have any questions or requests for future tutorials, feel free to leave me a comment below. I post a new cosplay tutorial every Thursday and a new crafting tutorial every other Monday, so check back next week for more DIY goodness.

soak for how long??

So until they're easily pliable. It'll depend on your specific wheat, but usually around 15-20 is a good amount to soak them.

That was so cute. I like how neat the rows looked. I would have to try this with palm leaves because we do not grow wheat in Miami, FL. Thank you. :)

y tyler The design might end up a bit flatter if you did it with palm leaves, but it'd still probably look very good. I've woven with gladiola leaves before, so I think palm leaves would work very similarly. Just make sure you dry the leaves before you weave with them or they'll shrink as they dry and loosen up the weaving.

Did you ever think to use leather strips, yarn or shoe strings to make this beautiful design?

y tyler hmm, never thought of leather strips, but I'll bet that would look very nice, especially if the shades were alternated. I think yarn might be a bit to soft to hold the shape of the edges, but shoe strings might work. My dream weaving material is that I've always wanted to try making it out of lavender. The stalks would be firm enough to weave it, and it'd smell great afterward too.

The Woodland Elf Lavender could work and the smell would permeate the air with a beautiful fragrance. My ythe clever gears of your mind never cease to turn. :)
