@@tralphstreet all Aperture Science personality constructs can retain battery at around 1.1 volts. This is mentioned by the AI who's running the facility in the first chapter of Portal 2.
Let's all take a moment to appreciate how many complex emotions the Portal seres' robots can express without being vaguely humanoid. That there is an achievement.
Yo, what if it implies that Wheatley is like GlaDOS in the sense that he's a human mind uploaded to a computer, and that's why his emotions are so defined-
@@the64bitdragon yeah but in reality he was also kinda corrupted by the body itself from its design. and he was created to make. bad decisions. so he was dumb and never realized what chell really has done, so he turned against her, his dumb decisions caused them to take a long time to come back, and the body gave him this "itch" to test
Honestly, I think it fits his character so well that he wrote, recorded, and sent in an acceptance speech and didn't even win. Edit: gotta love the "geniuses" that, months later, still can't help but point out that "hurr durr it had to be made ahead of time", completely oblivious to the fact that literally everyone knows that.
@@anaytyagi8839 Are we talking about the same year? I just saw an Arkham Iceberg video that had an entry about Joker's acceptance video for the prize, even though they said Wheatley won
Wheatley will never be evil to me. He’s a well meaning bumbling moron who just so happened to get in a position of extreme power and went crazy. Love this little British ball of metal.
There are several kinds of evil, but the worst kind of evil is dumb, well-meaning evil. Unlike anything else, it fails to create anything unique or creative, but anything it does manage to create will only ever be used to satisfy their self-righteous ideals under the idea that they're "Doing Good." They will do the cruelest and most corrupt things all because they feel they're justified in their tyranny.
That and the aperture laboratory apparatus was sending him constant urges to test or he’d go insane. Glados could handle it, but Caroline her personality core didn’t actually want to be downloaded onto a computer, and Chell is strongly implied to be her daughter. That’s why rather than have some high-quality aperture employee test subjects, she wanted them all deceased, and when she had the chance to fill Chell with lead from 1000 turrets including the King turret, they performed a mournful ballet, calling Chell “my child,” letting her go. Everything in aperture is a testament to cruel aspects of innocent curiosity.
@@nobilesnovushomo58 nah, chell is not caroline's daughter, theres a thing called bring your daughter to work day, and caroline was cave johnsons assistants, it was possibly a worker's daughter since she did make the concept for the potato battery
@@CastleAliens Ratman was implied to be her adopted father, because neither had time at the time for a daughter, but Caroline was thought to have had lingering thoughts on backing away from Aperture sometime. It was the most solid theory considering discovering Caroline made GLaDOS hold out on deceasing Chell, the ONE person that practically ruined her facility, threw her into a fire, unseated her from her facility, and fed her to birds, after going after employees for simply having the CHANCE to do what Chell did to her TWICE.
@@stupit467 He would've been built specifically to lessen GLaDOS' processing power & its ability to make decisions (hence his designation as the intelligence dampening sphere) so that would put his creation after the integration of GLaDOS, but before Chell's tests.
I wouldn't doubt he has a solar panel or something to keep his power sustainable. He was designed to give glados bad ideas, so the scientists probably wanted him to work even if glados managed to cut off the power her chassis was giving him. Or at least, I assume that's how it works.
Sentries, Dispensers and Teleporters can be upgraded to level 3. The Pyro is class number 3. There's a total of 9 classes, which is 3 multiplied by 3. The joke doesn't work on account of the existance of TF2.
He DOES have no one to thank, though. He probably doesn't know what the award is for, meaning that he doesn't know Valve exists. And the scientists were the ones who mentally abused him for something he couldn't control, which left him traumatized and scarred for life, so obviously not them.
@@voidhumor2740 wait was it 50000 years later portal 1 takes place near hl2 and in portal 2 the facility is overgrown with vines its not really clear but its pretty clear a shitton of time has passed
***** It's not actually his fault, it's GLaDOS' body, he couldn't handle the power so he went mad, if he was never attached to the Main Core he and Chell still would have been allies.
Just not next year... This comment will always be true. Luckily, there are ton's of fan mods and creations (Valve approved) that will help to fill the void Portal 3 leaves... and will always leave... probably, anyways... Who knows, who knows? Yu know, who knows... Yeah...
The Spike Video Game Awards (in short VGAs, known as the VGX for the final show) was an annual award show hosted by American television network Spike from 2003 to 2013
1st I was like, How is he getting home, GLaDOS has changed her mind. Than something orbiting at a larger velocity than Wheatley hits him causing him to spin off at the same velocity as the object hoping that Wheatley will be knocked back into the atmosphere causing him to probably disintegrate as he enters the atmosphere and than most definitely die on impact. I was like of course GLaDOS isn't that kindly hearted. As a matter of fact she has no heart at all
Yes, infact, around 20 times. I know he's the space core but since they never say his name I don't call him anything. (Also not calling him by his name and just some rando makes it 10x funnier.)
@@Vooblebooble the "name" is space core, like Wheatley's name is "intelligence dampening core". "Wheatley" is just a nickname. It's like GLaDOS. That's her name but nobody in the whole games, even herself, call her like that. Maybe she didn't accept that title and has her own nickname.
Just completed Portal2 with my 7 yr old son, I avoided playing it originally as I have run Linux since 2001 and it wasn't out for the platform until a few years ago. We both loved this game - one of the best endings ever
This is my headcanon: 1- Eventually, Wheatley got attached to Space Core, you know, for being his only company in a bunch of years. 2- Also, Space Core, at some point start to calling Wheatley "Space Mate", even if he corrected him
God, I love this game. It's amazing, even in 2017. I love the humor in this game and it's one of my favorite games of all time (along with Borderlands 2)
Even though Wheatley betrayed, tried to kill, and basically was a major douchebag, I still think he's the best character ever and that he deserved this award
2018 now. I'll come back to this comment every year. I will update it with a new reply, just to keep everyone up to date on the still very present lack of Portal 3. EDIT : It's been 2 years and I haven't updated it till now. Probably won't. That was just a joke guys, I mean, serious?
2019 july there is no portal three, but there is a portal * without portals * VR game called The Lab... (The Lab has a dog-bot in it and its adorable )
i miss old valve software back then making these great stuffs. thank you 1996-2014 valve developers. and you are not welcome 2020s valve software developers.
He'll always be #1 in my heart. He might have been an asshole, but I'm gonna chock that up to Glados's body f**king with him. He's a good wittle boy that got a god complex he couldn't handle, and I think he's been punished enough. 🥰
Somalia has 7 letters. If A=1 and Z=26 and so on, then the word "Somalia" can be decoded as 19.15.13.1.12.9.1. 19+15+13+1+12+9+1=75. If we use the same cipher to decode "Valve", it would be 22.1.12.22.5. 22+1+12+22+5=62. If we subtract 62 from 75, we get 13. If we subtract 7 from 13, we get 6. There are two Portal games. 6/2=3. PORTAL 3 CONFIRMED! And that's how it's done.
It’s been 11 years, where do you think Wheatley is now? :o Haven’t fully beaten Portal 2 but I beat Portal 1 and I’m a Portal fan so love seeing new stuff every once in a while :] EDIT: Just realised he didn’t even win it lmao
you should play portal 2 fully! its a great game! also likely in the far away reaches of space, since hes been long drifting away from our solar system. did you know that space core actually orbits him?
I saw this comment on another video and wanted to say it here, the reason the space core orbits Wheatley is because he is so dense he has his own gravitational pull.
I'd actually like to see him in HL3. Like he falls back down from space and you get to meet him (Hopefully he joins the resistance) That would be awesome.
The Joker isn't even a video game character! The real winner actually goes to Wheatley! That little British robot deserves to win! I just want him to win! I just want to!
