I need help. I can not get the 1st rev gear shifter rod out. The tractor wont shift into1 rev. I have the case split but the shift rod will not pull out any suggestions. Thank you
Hi Dino, I have a 5047 Transmission from a Wheel Horse 1054 that hangs up when trying to shift into reverse. I pulled it apart and was going to disassemble but there is a packing or something in the small hole on the side where you access the spring, cylinder and ball bearings for the shift forks. Is this a packing and if so does it have to be replaced after reassembly? Also, need a new case gasket but have no idea where to get one. May not have to take completely apart if it is the suction problem you were talking about in one of your blogs. May just have to align forks in neutral position. Is there a fix for this problem? I have a spare transmission with the 1" shaft but not sure if the internals are interchangeable with the 1-1/8 I have. Can you please advise me on the questions above and what lube and where to purchase a new case gasket. Many thanks for all your knowledge and help in advance. look forward to your reply.
Hello Dino's Thank you very much for the video that is perfect. I am also doing the same machine of the year 1968. I need some information. I am in France and I can not find seals and needle bearings. Could you give me the references of these parts and an address where I can buy them. thanks in advance PS: I will put online my renovation of my Wheel out cordially Gilles
Gilles, thank you for the compliment, I suggest you join the forum. www.wheelhorseforum.com/ it is a Wheel Horse forum and it will be easier to communicate and answer questions.
Since these units are built unsynchronized and owners manuals say stop between shifts, I wonder if they can easily be changed to being synchronized to shift during travel? If so how? For those who just do it anyway.. Ya I know you can shift one moving right now but that's besides the point because gears do chip away if you do grind...lol
I don't think it is possible. I think you would have to design everything and then you would not have any room in the case. Just start out in the gear you want.
I just picked up a raider 12 and the rear end wont turn. The shifter seems to go into all the gears but its like its stuck in gear. Havnt really looked at it yet but any suggestions on where to start?
