In this video, we remove the stock pulleys from the engine and transmission. Then we replaced them with a 7 inch pulley in the front and a 5 inch pulley on the transmission. We also add two backside idler pulleys into the system.

I like it. I have 7 and 4 on mine. Runs 22-23 at 3600. I originally had a 7” from TS. When I added the PS I needed a second V. Ended up with a cast iron motor pulley with the bolt up sleeve. The only down side I see with having the bottom of the belt strait on the bottom is reduced ground clearance approaching obstacles. As long as your tire hits before your guard your good! Look forward to part 6

My plan is to make the skid plate go at the same angle as the belt guard… I just can’t get past the thought of all the torque and hp the motor puts out pushing on the idler that would be on the tension side. When I built my belt system on the JD I took a crash course on v belt drive systems. I read in several articles you should avoid having idler pulleys between the drive and driven pulleys if possible. The belt is designed to take a lot of tension forces in a straight line. Back idlers are worse than v idlers too on them. I think it’ll be worth it. Plus nothing is permanent, the whole thing can always be changed at any time. We about to get started on the guide setup now!

Great work, and I am HIGHLY interested in your version of the belt system. Everything you said made a lot of sense to me. I may eliminate my lower idler for that straight shot like you are doing if it works out well, and it full well looks like it will. I will definately be watching and waiting for the next video!

We just got done with the belt guides right now…9pm Easter Sunday. I’m gonna start editing tonight. It worked out great though, no issues at all. Smooth and quiet
