After watching your video, I looked up the tractor, only to realize my dad has one of these without the hood, scoop, or markings. He received it several years ago as a rolling frame as a trade from someone. He cleaned it up, put a rebuilt motor on it, and uses it as a small utility tractor around his property to pull a small trailer and as a vehicle to just joyride around his yard. It would be nice to see yours restored with a fresh coat of paint!

I love Wheel Horse tractors and my stable has 5 of them in it so far. My latest acquisition is a 1975 C-120 Hydro that I have equipped with a dozer blade and I use that for plowing out my driveway. I have loaded ag tires on the back with wheel weights and chains, this tractor really gets the job done.
Great video Norm, Nope, contrary to popular opinion I say you sell it to some unselfish soul who has had one of these very same old tractors on his wish list for a long time now, AS IS, WERE IS,!!! and let him have some fun restoring it with isavetractors parts of course. you know someone like------?---- ME!!!! seriously though a great buy! I'm a Wheel Horse guy, so naturally my vote is to keep it. And you will make pretty much all of the collectors out there crazy with the price you paid for all that. Unbelievable luck. I am going to build a loader for one of my 520's after I convert it to an 8 speed.
I really like the Wheelhorse tractor, it’s like 100 times better than a shovel and a wheelbarrow. Anything you do with the tractor always turned out real nice. Love the channel keep up the good work
The loader is worth a lot more than you paid for the tractor!... Folks wonder what they are good for, I tell them it beats the snot out of a shovel and wheelbarrow! It's a shame that nobody makes a small loader for them these days, but nobody really makes a rugged garden tractor either. You have grass machines or compacts.
@@alexduke5402 The small sub-compact that JD makes is bigger than this. I have a sub-compact Kubota BX2680 about the size of the JD compacts 20-25 HP. This Wheelhorse is smaller or about the size of than biggest garden tractors you find at home Depot or Lowes. At one time they could be outfitted with small loaders, had 3 point hitches and even shaft PTO's off the front and rear.. I have an Simplicity 2010 with a Lord Loader on the front, which runs off a front PTO shaft. It's powered by a 10 HP Kohler. I also have a 19.5 Sears garden tractor from the '90's. Side by side the Sears is a bigger tractor but the Simplicity will walk all over it. Shaft driven standard with a clutch unlike the ones made now that are belt driven. It also is heavier.
Wuggly Ump yeah I know what your talking about. like the REAL Craftsman mowers from this country's steel age. I thought jd offered them that small. my judgment may be skewed growing up on a seed farm. but even those big Craftsman Kohlers are up 18 19hp. I mean your pissing in the wind putting a loader on a 12hp Briggs. you know you start getting to consumer market at that HP. any loader setup will be kinda high dollar they are worth their weight in silver. and everyone knows that. my brother in-law has a B7100 he wants a loader for and we have a B21 loader backhoe they are both around 20-23hp. The 7100 although 4wd just doesn't seem loader worthy imo. No power steering and it's not geared low. It's made for front snow blowing/snow plowing. Has a 60" belly mower I just had to rebuild gearbox. I'm I'm not sure if they even offer a loader. or he's hoping for me to Fab him one up! I guess anything is better than nothing with these small tractors!! Growing up with all this equipment at my disposal I really couldn't imagine life without it
I love the ARK loader! I just got an ARK 600 for the PMax and can’t wait to try it. I’m planning to switch the spool valve to a 4 way 4 sho! Also, I have a hand drive hydro so that isn’t ideal ... but we will see. I wish I got mine for $200 🤪

Curl your bucket as you push into the pile this lessens the force on the FEL frame and allows you to fill the bucket. Also try to let the bucket float on the ground without putting pressure upon the machine (lifting the front end) this will help you when doing bucket work you’ll be and ace in no time.
Norman, great video and a great little tractor. Keep it and restore it. we have four horses up and running and another one coming soon and enough parts to build at least a couple more. I was at that same auction. We took home 5 tractors and a slew of parts. Keep the great videos coming!
I use to have a 4x4 D165 yanmar tractor with that loader, that loader was the best digging loader I ever had, they used the yanmar sub frame and used the tractor hyd for the hyd tank the loader vlv was a cesna two spool loader vlv,i had to rebuild it it was sticking be carefull when you take it apart ball bearings will take off
This is the type of tractor I'd like to get my hands on, it would be perfect for our tiny yard. Big garden tractor with a bucket, tougher than a typical flimsy riding mower. Sadly I never seem to be able to find one for sale with a bucket loader and people ask stupid money for these things without them. So you're best off buying a small farm tractor which is too big. :P
Worth restoring..especially since you have a matching loader, from the fCtory. Its pretty rare to find a garden tractor with a loader that was biught at the same time as the tractor and not being aftermarket. Im looking for a loader for my LGT-145 now and there are 3 on craigslist..all $1000 each and one comes with a case 444 attached to it..for $1100 Yikes!

That's the direction I am leaning with my bolens tractor. Bucket just isnt large enough to make much sense with the slow hydraulic rates. A set of forks and a remote grapel or even just a set of forks I can put a pallet box on and shovel more than these can scoop.

As much as I think a small tractor with a FEL would be handy, the old girl looks like she's struggling a bit. There seems to be a lot of bounce on the front wheels. Are they up to the task of running a loaded bucket? I had to get some 4 ply tires on my IH Cub, and she only has a blade on her. I've had mysterious leaks, cracks, and just plain problems after going to a set like those on the WH.
Have had this one fore about 5 years it's on a 312- moved 30 tons of dirt and stones for new driveway was on a C120 when I got it would you have a manual for this loader would like to get one

We have a 1967 that is a brighter red with off-white wheels and engine and seat. I have a 1974 that is red white and blue. I'm in the middle of building one that is a c160 that is going to be cinnamon colored with a white engine and wheels.
Eric B / ebinmaine I bet they all look pretty cool!! Currently I'm working on a C-120 manual transmission, hood and wheels are antique white, and all the rest of the tractor is orange color. I replace the stock light bulbs for a set of green colored bulbs. The tractor has been sitting for 5 years in a barn, non starting condition, (I'm a newbie on these garden tractors and their ignition system) so it took me time and research to finally find out the points were pitted, replaced, set the gap, replace spark plug with the correct one, clean the carb,actually that was the first thing l did before anything else, and it fired right up!!! 😃😃 Then replaced cracked fuel lines, new filters, clean oil. And after l did replace tires and drove it around it started to be a pain in the ... one problem solves then another come up😂😂 rear axle leaking new gear oil everywhere, had to research info and look up for parts ( all transmission seals) took my time to replace all seals, after fighting with stuck wheel hubs 😂, a 3 jaw puller did the job. What a feeling of accomplishment 😁 for a newbie like me who didn't grow up with machines, engines, not mechanical inclined either.
Norman, I need some weight for the back of my loader cub, I'd be interested to see and hear about some of your weight boxs you've got or other options for rear weight, I have loaded the tires with WW fluid, I'm looking for ideas to build or buy also do you do anything for front weight? I have a 70's Yanmar with a back blade and it needs some weight on the front as it pops wheelies really easily. thanks scott
See our video on the JD400 front weight bracket build, that should give you ideas. A simple idea for rear weight is to make a simple frame and stack the concrete blocks. I think they are 8 x 16 x 4 or something and weight 30 lbs each. I have 8 of those on the back of my Ford LGT loader machine
Can you do a video on rebuilding and replacing the seals on a welded hydraulic cylinder similar to the ones on the wheel horse loader? I have a wheel horse bronco 14 with a leaking lift cylinder and a John deer 112 with a Johnson work horse loader that has a leaking cylinder or two. Thanks.
