In this instructional pottery video you will learn the specific hand positions and techniques you will need for using the sheet metal rib to remove excess slip and to make a wheel thrown pitcher form more articulate. You will also learn how to make uninterrupted concave curves. A “Thrown” rather than a trimmed foot is particularly useful for tall shapes with attachments or alterations. This is because it is difficult to trim the piece in a chuck in these cases. In this video you will learn the advanced throwing technique of making a “thrown” foot. If done correctly this type of foot can be as articulate as a trimmed foot, but can save you a lot of time.
