The Thunderbeam I attempted today in Blanchester failed, but thankfully I got this epic ambience after leaving the recorder in downtown Wilmington. The downtown OmniAlert OA-4 (closest siren to the recorder, pictured towards the end) that replaced a 2001-DC in 2018 failed the test entirely today, so only the Vortexes nearby are heard. As you can hear, the downtown area is covered just fine by the Vortexes alone, as Wilmington's coverage is heavily oversaturated. The Vortex pictured was not heard in the video; just decided to throw the picture in so you can have something to look at.
What do the siren signals in Clinton County mean?
- Alert Signal (a continuous, steady tone): This signal means a Tornado Warning has been issued for Clinton County and you should go indoors and seek shelter immediately in an interior room of the lowest floor of a building. Avoid Windows and protect yourself from flying debris.
- Airhorn Signal (a pulsed tone that sounds similar to an airhorn): A hazardous materials incident has been declared in Clinton County. Go indoors and check local media for additional instructions.
- Hi-Lo Signal (a continuous signal alternating between a high and low tone): All-clear; the emergency has ended.
Older sirens in the county cannot do these different signals and will run in the steady alert signal only. During an actual emergency, all sirens will run only one of these signals (depending on the emergency) for a period of 3 minutes before shutting off.
Outdoor Warning Sirens are meant to notify people outdoors of an emergency as a signal to go indoors and seek further information and instructions. They are NOT meant to be heard inside your home or business.
Enjoy!
Clinton County tests their sirens on the First Saturday of the month at noon, weather-permitting. During the test, all three siren tones will be tested.

In Hawai’i we use Attack for national emergencies, Whoop for Hazmat, and Alert for just about everything else like hurricanes tsunamis storms ect.

Just gonna give my opinion to what each bone-chilling tone means: 1. Alert - Tornado 2. Air Horn - All Clear 3. Hi-Lo - Fire/Flood

Alert is a simple boring tone, yet, will get your attention; it should have been the All-clear signal instead of Hi-Lo Air Horn is like an Alien Tripod at the distance or some reversed video-game alarm Hi-Low is an imaginary European ambulance Add more of your opinions in this comment section here.

You were close. Per County policy, Alert is Tornado Warning, Air Horn is Hazmat/Chemical Emergency (there are a couple plants in the area that house significant amounts of chemicals), and Hi-Lo is used as the all clear signal.
