Type: Whelen WPS-2000-8
Signal: Westminster Chimes
Location: 150 N Limestone, Lexington, Fayette County, KY
Decided to finally record myself a Fayette County siren! I chose the only remaining Whelen 2000 series siren in the system. At one point, this siren was located a couple hundred feet away on the police department, but was moved to its current position within the year to provide better coverage downtown. In this process, it lost its MC controller in favor of a shiny new UV. At one point, Fayette County/Lexington had an entire system of Whelen 2000 series sirens, all but this one have since been replaced with Modulators. That big blue building in the background is the Lexington Financial Building, and is the tallest building in Lexington. Enjoy!
Fayette County sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00AM. If the test does not occur at 10:00AM it will be rescheduled for 7:00PM the same day.
