Do not trust the height shown on your zero turns settings!!! Or walk-behind, or push mower for that matter.
Please don't forget to hit like and subscribe! Also, share this with your friend that you think would enjoy it.
So - After the 4 house stop where I scalped the grass while mowing the lawn in a couple of places, I began to suspect the deck height setting was not accurate. The 'big house' stop I mentioned is where I really began to think the deck was really set much lower than 3.5". Dre was cutting the front and I was cutting the back...where are sections of the lawn butted up to each other I thought to myself, "I'm cutting 1.5" lower than he is!"
I was right! Dre had actually raised the walk-behinds deck to 4" for some reason, and once I measured the actual height the zero-turn was cutting at, it was in fact 2.5". There was literally a 1.5" difference in the height from the front yard to the back yard. Since it was all weeds...it didn't really matter too much.
Only one lawn that had nice grass was scalped by yours truly while I was mowing all week. I still hate scalping anything because this is not good for the blades, spindles, belts, or anything else for that matter!
The key takeaway from today's video (not even really mentioned at all in the video!):
Consider how the lawns you are currently cutting make you appear to potential future customers. I had no idea Billy was cutting so many 'crappy' lawns. This is obviously my opinion, but so many of the houses I cut this week almost seemed vacant because of how poor of shape the lawn, landscape, and patio areas were.
I am not saying my company didn't cut a lot of properties like these too. I'm just saying if you want to care for nice properties you need to attract some customers with nice properties and do high-quality work each week to keep them!
I'd much rather cut grass than weeds, wouldn't you?

Have you ever discovered that your lawn mower's height setting was incorrect? It seems to be an issue with the Snapper Pro S200XT model because this is the 3rd one I have purchased and all of them were not accurate!

@Hall's Pro Lawn Mowing Service Yeah...I've had a couple other issues with the dealer's assembly of Snapper Pro mowers over the years. But, on the S200XT model specifically, I link it is the 'linkage' that causes the issue most of the time and it could slowly get worse over time... On Billy's mowers, they are missing the thread on the tires which only compounds the issue!! Thanks for the comment Josh! Talk to you soon!

@@parsonicservices3576 Thanks for the comment Chris. I think it's something worth checking from time to time. These Snapper Pros have 'links' that I believe can stretch or shift or something over time so it could be true when new but use could cause it to change slowly which might make it harder to notice.

The videos are good Ryan. Wish it could be yards like Hebron’s back in the day. I completely agree though I always made it a point to blow off swing sets, trampolines, doll and dog houses, other peoples properties with close concrete slabs or walkways because you couldn’t always keep every single blade of grass on your property. The 10 to 15 extra seconds it took for me to blow off the parts I did that didn’t even have grass on them or I was just helping maybe the neighbor blow off a little bit of his grass because I saw him out there cutting his could have kept some of those costumers for life. Every little bit matters in every yard so you have to take even the worst looking yards just as serious as your other costumers. Some of these yards billy and yourself have had for 10+ years and I cut some of them for 5 or 6 of those years! Little things are just as important! Would love to get out and make a video with ya sometime! I still have the love for cutting grass just like you do and miss it a lot!!!

@@ethancadwallader1629 You're the man Ethan! I'm buying a house real soon and it will be my new 'set' for the RU-vid videos. You are more than welcome to swing by/hop in a video. I got some trees that need to come down so I've already talked to Travis about that. It's gonna be a lot of work, but a lot of fun and great content for the channel I think.

@@LawnCrack Yea weeds suck! In the Spring I have a few customers that have nothing but Dandelions in their yard.

@@GwinnettLawns The only southern grass we have up here is Zoysia and it's rare...but man is it nice when the whole yard is Zoysia and not fixed with fescue or whatever. Weeds can't even weasel their way into that thick turf!!

2.5 inches is Bermuda height territory. Lol golf course specs.

Right...I'm cutting fescue though! 3" is the absolute shortest you go with fescue in my opinion! That's the problem!

@@LawnCrack I have one huge yard that is all Fescue and Kentucky blue grass and I usually cut it at 3.5-4 depending on how much rain we have received. I also have to cut it weekly. I much prefer to cut that than Bermuda.

@@GwinnettLawns Fescue likes to grow for sure. If the grass doesn't stripe, I don't think I would like cutting it! I like fescue at 3.5" but that extra half-inch keeps it much greener over the summer months around here.

I know what you mean. Sadly, Bahia, is dominant here. There's lot of Bermuda grass, some Centipede grass and a few Saint Augustine grass yards. I promise though, if we dropped our weedy yards, we'd be out of business. Most of them are huge properties of more than an acre and they'll pay for mowing but not maintenance.

@@TTScott-gg4kv For sure...I had my fair share of weed-filled lawns back in the day. From what I cut last week it was like 90% weed-filled and got old fast!
