People are talking about Alan's acting a lot here and it is great but can we take a moment to mention just how well Ben sold the grief of losing his clearly treasured companion at the end there. All of this was great. Spot on acting throughout. Amazing outfits and set design, and the CGI at the end? This was something spectacular and it's amazing to see how far VDL has come.

Alan's acting is supreme. He is a completely different person. Man, his eyes just killed me

"Sweet Naertho, I know that we haven't gotten off on the best foot. Heck, the Phantasmos and the McDinglefarts have a longstanding blood feud that predates the Second Cataclysm. But perhaps we could put that behind us. Perhaps we could even be ... friends?" Epic.

I had a similar experience to this. I was the dm of a season with some of my good friends. It was home brew and I was quite proud of the campaign that I had made. Keep in mind, I made a lot of extremely fun changes that increased the difficulity of it. I had 7 players, and most were fairly simple. However, there was this one bard in the party who had chosen chaotic good as their allignment. They had the most crazy and weird character one could possibly imagine. It was to the point where the party was tempted to abondan them(several times), but each time the parties drunk holy knight talked them out of it. So fast forward several months later, the team was doing amazing. Too good so I decided to pull some strings for a fun twist. I had made a custom item a couple sessions prior(specifically for a bard). It was a ukulele that I named 'The string of whispers'. I kitted this thing out, giving it a different type of summoned monster based on the roll of a D100. It costed hit points to use, so it couldn't be spammed either. But back to the story, I chose to summon one of the big bad's pets that I had prepared. It was a Grand Storm Dragon. Mind you, the party was not supposed to win. I expected them to run. However, mid retreat, the arch wizard of the party rolled a Nat 1 on one of their spells, so I caused it to where it blocked one route of escape. 5 of the members were at safety except two. The enchantress and the bard. The enchantress was similar to bens character towards the bard, where she believed she would never care for his character. Man, no joke stands up to the dragon and uses string of whispers. Mind you(He hasn't succeeded in rolling higher than a 40 with this things) and I kid you not, man rolls a 99. I decided to give him a chance and summoned an undead dragon to aid him. Man sacrificed himself to buy time for the party to escape. When they finally beat the big bad guy, they built a memorial in place for the greatest Bard to ever live, Dikus Maxim.

Alan showing his full range of acting here. That was legit incredible. That end sequence was legit moving for a character with that little back story.

Poop's reveal was a masterpiece. He left this world the same way he entered; with everyone around him in tears.

I feel like when Alan was called to play this part he was like okay, BUT he MUST die at the end, I will not reprise the part of poop mcdingle fart. and the audience will never let him die if he isn't dealt with. 😂

Really good move on Alan’s part seeing Ben was his biggest skeptic and going “I’ll play off that and have my very serious but unseriously named character be of a rival house and that’s why his character doesn’t like me but if I can change the character’s mind then I change the player’s as well.”

The legend of Poop remains today, seen in the teary pink eyes of those who knew and loved him most. Once per hundred years the ancestors of Poop can be seen making the pilgrimage to the top of Mount Shyte, deep into the bowels, only to pay homage the the stains still visible upon the crevasse walls- known to the locals as McDinglefart’s Bowl.

My respect for Alan's acting capability just reach a new height. Goosebumps when he said "Sweet Naertho".

Epic! I like the detail of the DM nonchalantly checking his notes in the background as the walls begin to crumble and the players are living the most heroic and tragic moment of their campain.

First of all, that CG is outrageous. Second, let's start a bet on how long the blooper will be and how much it will feature Alan corpsing 😂

I hate how well Alan embodied that character. I've never wanted to randomly punch a character in the face this much, which is a huge credit to VLDL. Also, that CGI was amazing.

I cant get over how good this is. The effects are outstanding but most of all, the acting! Alan you absolutely nailed it and Ben, well, you always nail it. Also Alan, you look like Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody

Those type of characters always end up becoming the most dedicated character to the lore and many legend and deep stories will be made in his bame making him the most beloved character this group ever had It's the silliness that somehow make those characters so valuable

how does EVERYONE at vldl have such insane range???? (alan being the silly/inappropriate one when he's usually the straight man and ben showing oscar-worthy levels of emotional drama at the end when he's usually the funny a**hole character)

As always you all did a great job on the skit. Alan killed it tho. The eyes, the small twitches of his cheeks / mouth, the way he spoke......hilariously good.

I was blown away by this. Alan delivered it to the max, and that ending was fantastic.

I usually find that the players that makes these types of characters and seem to not take it seriously is the players that have the most fun and often sticks around the longest (both player and character).

He has such range as an actor. Just beautiful, beautiful. (Wipes a single tear away.)

I know the whole joke is that "Oh, Alan isn't taking the campaign seriously!" But he has come up with a pretty detailed and by the book back story and it's just as serious as the rest. Just the names are a joke, which is why by the end, everyone loves his character.
