@Human Peeing that wouldnt really change much on the injury side. he woulda been a top wr no matter where he played and opposing teams would have still targeted his legs because of his size. same thing that happened with rob gronkowski,he was in the perfect place but opposing players targetting his legs caused too many injuries to just carry on from.

That end zone play is the perfect example of what Revis would do. He would control the receiver so they were always in the worst position to catch the football. They would be sandwiched between Revis and the sidelines so the QB just wouldn't throw the ball his direction. The most astonishing part of the stat line is Johnson only had four targets. I don't know for sure but he probably averaged over 10 targets per game that season.
@DarkKnightofHeaven
@DarkKnightofHeaven 3 года назад
Using numbers from football reference. He played 15 games and was targeted 137 times. This puts his targets per game around 9.1 That being said, Darrelle Revis had a 4 year peak before that nasty knee injury in 2012. Even then though, not being quite the same as he was, he appeared in 3 probowls afterwards. Even Revis at 80% what he was was still a top 10 corner in the league. Revis island is a prime vacation spot because you might as well relax, you aren't going to be doing anything anyways.

Revis might be the best all around cb to ever play. Unlike most top corners defensive scheme didn't really matter as he could play man 2 man or zone, he could also play left/right/nickel which most top corners don't do as they like to stay to one side or at least to the left or right. I will say though that Champ Bailey in his prime was insanely dangerous and I'd put him right up there with Revis when it comes to locking down the opponents best receivers.
@rook1196

Sure, Moss still had his leaping ability and route running, but he wasn't the same blazer he once was. Ty Law had 10 interceptions in a year for the Jets because our D was terrible and couldn't get off the field. Not knocking Champ, but the Jets actually had top ranked defenses those years BECAUSE of Revis (2006 Broncos was middle of the pack). In 2009, they only allowed 8 passing TDs the entire season despite facing Brady twice, Peyton, Brees, Palmer, Matt Ryan. 2009-2010 Revis is the best corner of all time. No other corner has ever been left on an island week in and out like he was and dominated. Much respect to Champ though. He was a beast

Well, you missed some important details. Calvin played for the lions. And revis played for the jets. The Jets that year had a top 3, arguably best defense that year. In competition with Ray Lewis Ravens defense and a Troy Polamalu steelers defense. The lions had a one man show offense where Stafford would literally rely on Calvin to make plays or open the defense for others to barely get open. There's a reason they were 6-10 that year. Revis also got away with pass interfence, as did most corners that lined up on Megatron

One CB or one CB doesnt make up the team.. and even if the best defense this year, like tampa or something..doesnt meant they woudlnt get burnt by kupp for a td or big yards or hopkins or deebo or jefferson or adamsl etc etc . they ALL have KILLED it against ANY cb.. so for calvin johnson to still get beat by revis, thats saying something because all those other recievers have still produced against big play cbs

Revis was the Deion of our time. They had similar career paths, similar accolades, they shut down the best receivers of their time, they got drafted onto crappy franchises, they retired early, they have iconic nicknames that they gave to themselves, and they only won their Super Bowls once they got traded.

Megatron was a 6’5 super athletic guy who would make catches in triple coverage, but I’ve seen several WRs have much better quickness and crisp route running than him. Saying megatron is the “prototype perfect WR” is only true if your criteria is height and athleticism. Personally I think Antonio Brown was the most uncoverable WR I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen a guy dominate as much as he did. And he only got better in clutch moments. I’ll never forget how he dominated the 2015 Broncos defense known as the “no fly zone”. Poor Chris Harris lmao.
