@@khure711 well look at it this way when the sheriff showed up might have found the gun and let's be honest Small towns it's known who races. So wrecked car full of guys with a gun that's obviously been recently fired and the guys are known street racers and the sheriff had received a call from some kid who could tell where the car went off the road. It's obvious what happened and I'm sure word spread about what happened too.

@@mikez650 Exactly. I was a high schooler in the early 90s, and that's about half of what I made most weeks. A slow week, closer to 80 percent. Not enough, even then to shoot at someone over, but it still happens now, over less. Hell, I got stabbed over $10 once, back then. Still have the tip of the knife, that stuck in a rib and snapped off, in a cigar box. Told the guy to keep the money, after beating the everlovin shit out of him. Figured he needed it more at that point.

Depends on what you consider "normal". I was a teen in rural Alabama in the 80s, a lot of his stories sound familiar. Not like "he stole them" familiar, but "I've had similar experiences" familiar.

@@Cal94 on a modern vehicle you'd probably need to mess with the computer. Not saying old cars were so much better back then, but it was simpler for sure, and thus easier to do self repairs and, ahem, modifications.

Believe it was one of Smokey Yunick’s tricks, have an on / off switch for the brake lights so anyone trying to out brake you slides off the track. Also good fun to have the brake lights on while you’re actually accelerating away...

Just be careful to remember that after you come back to it after being stationed overseas for 6 months. I got pulled over for no tail lights as a result. Had completely forgot about them being on their own switch. That led to no insurance ticket because I had just flown in on a Friday night and was jazzed to see some friends. No insurance led to impound and a $2,000 fine to get it out. Thankfully I kind of knew someone with some power and he got it down to $500. Expensive trick! 😄

@@andmicbro1 nope just 2 switches. On running to your lights the other to the tail lights. Flick switch break circuit lights die out. Seen a 2017 mustang done up like that for like 20 buck. What ever 2 lengths of 10 foot wire and 2 switches from princess auto

That used to be common. I'm only 36. I was 7 or 8 when I started steering from my dad's lap. I was 9 or 10 when I learned to drive a manual truck.it was just a small Mazda. The people at the gas station sold us a cigar when we took the truck one time. We didn't even smoke it. Just wanted to see if they'd sell it to us

I remember seeing something a few years back about a kid that was allowed to drive down a little road and the parent shared the video on social media. Children's services got involved because of the video. It is not surprising kids sit infront of a screen and develop no social or practical skills these days

Some real world fun and makes them better drivers later in life. No point in wrapping kids in bubble wrap, even though that seems to happen a lot these days too 💁‍♂️

*96 Rock! Atlanta's finest classic rock station. Warner Robins folk used to roll around with those shirts like they were kings back in the 80's, I only ever street raced for fun and clout i wasn't stupid. even then it wasn't often because i was always doing little things to my car to make it faster. i ended up ruining my 84 trans am by running straight methanol in it. ate up every seal in the carb. so yeah it wasn't all the time and i couldn't afford most of the tried and true power adders but then neither could most of the people i raced so it was kinda even. Only time i ever came close to getting into this kind of trouble racing was in Macon. didn't know it at the time but i was racing some gang members and clout was everything to them at the time because they didn't have any money either* my run from them went from Eisenhower parkway on i75 to Hartley bridge road where i then lost them on the backroads back to Warner Robins*
