There is no such thing as a minor amount of trouble for a felon which doesn't have potential to become major trouble with no other factor than existing as a felon. Right or wrong, it follows them for the rest of their lives and is pretext for anything police feel like doing to them. People can argue all day about whether felons deserve it but the reality is that many felons feel cornered and that's all with which they are concerned.

Body cams are wise for lots of reasons… and to capture the actions of everyone involved… officers… suspects… general public… officers that’s are acting properly should be advocating for their use. It also can add evidence of how a situation unfolded even if all other witnesses share a contradictory narrative. It also helps address one of the major issues that has historically allowed bad cops to remain in service. The fraternal nature of the forces makes it challenging to be the voice that ‘outs’ another officer’s bad actions. They may face retribution from other officers and be considered untrustworthy. Allowing people to be better hold to account by their own actions is a positive step forward. It also better protects well-acting officers from unfounded claims of mistreatment.
