I fucking LOVE watching skillful players play games I've already played because Im old and slow and can not do any cool shit like this. Well done machinehunter!
I'm sure you do amazing! Remember that the point of playing a game is to have fun. It doesn't matter if you do it on the easiest or the hardest difficulty. :)
@@FreakDaMIghet Thank you for saying that! I tend to adjust the difficulty as needed. With HZD/FB I lower big boi fights but most other things I keep at normal. When I played Death Stranding, I started on "easy" but 1/2 way through I pushed it up to "hard" and finished the game on "hardest" and when I played my one and only Fromsoft game, Elden Ring (yes, I too jumped on the bandwagon) I stayed in the "easy" zone and got myself leveled up and up and up and man the grind got boring so I finally ventured forth reckoning I had ground it down to easy mode, made it all the way to Vulcano Mountain and then I stopped. I think the point is, keep playing, find a way, keep the brain engaged and work with what's there. I am so grateful games have accessibility options now (except fromsoft, more's the pity there).
I really liked the development of her stunts, acrobats, and spearmanship in FW! In ZD, her spear moves can be pretty mediocre in gameplay, but I think I would like to consider it as part of her character development for ZD and now in FW's era we can say she definitely grew to improvise the way she hunts/fight. I was actually surprised how deadlier/skillful she is in combat now🙌💜
@@chynnadelrosario1782 that’s one of the things I loved most about FW. One of the biggest complaints I heard about ZD was how boring and ineffective melee combat was. So what did Guerilla do for FW? Made an entire melee skill tree with combos, dedicated side quests, the works! Devs that listen like that are the best!
@@n7sorcerer419 Boring? Yes. Ineffective? Hell no, FW's melee is all smoke and mirrors, you can't really do shit with it. While in ZD I was running around hitting morherfuckers dead on Ultra Hard
Then you have someone like me who accidentally rotated the camera a hair to the left and ended up performing a regular strike instead of a silent strike😂
@@adeelmal1693 That's how I usually start fights in Zero Dawn get in th enearest bush and pick off as many as I can until they spot me.Mos to fth etime by the time the ydospot an dstart charging a tme the rest aer manageable. I bought both the games as soon as they came out and the difference between them is insane, the second game is so much smoother with gameplay, demonstrated by this awesome clip, nothing but love for these two games
This is exactly why i hate that FW got zero awards at the VGA’s. This game felt the most next gen imo last year and the gap between zero dawn and this is way more imo than the gap between gow 2018 and ragnarok
I prefer ZD over FW for sure. I think the gameplay is far better. FW just adds in a load of stuff that makes it less fun. Ammo types that take too long to unlock at higher difficulty levels so they feel locked away, melee combos that are too mechanically complex to actually use in combat (the fight pits make it obvious that even the devs knew that), too many weapon types to feel like you're always making the most effective use of them all. The story was almost as good though.
Forbidden West is one of those rare sequels where I felt like the devs put heartfelt effort into improving *all* the shaky parts of the previous game. HZD was great, don’t get me wrong, but FW felt even better in *every* way.
The combat gameplay is not easy, but alloy moved in ways that other games have never done. She is a absolute beast when you get these moves down...... Great job. Waiting for forbidden West for PC
I played zero dawn sense it came out in 2017 and I was flabbergasted at the improvement they made in forbidden west. The devs did an amazing job, I already completed every trophy on ps4 and completed new game + 8 times, this is a true work of art
@@seah44wk yeah it took me a while, but I do have the best gear all maxed out (oseram artificer, Nora thunder warrior, death seekers shadow, sunscourage, etc
@@xAzrael_ I know the pain, it took me months of grinding for all my maxed out gear. Here is a tip to make it funner. Explore, don’t just go to the sites, explore on your way so that it does not feel as repetitive. Hope this helps.
I got zero dawn early to mid '22,finished it and immediately opened up the Playstation store and got Forbidden West. You can actually feel that the creators listened to constructive criticism about the combat and UI which is rare and fantastic. Great games.
Dude. “Shook” is not even the right word to describe my reaction. I am shaken, stirred, and blended I am in such awe of this playthrough. You are an absolute master, and every single move was smooth as hell. THIS is how this game was meant to be played.
@@ashleybosch7220Pros won't play in story/easy mode. And with how far the player is in this clip, he might be nearby max level. Silent strikes pretty much kill every humans, even the champions (the ones with shields).
1:45 can we just appreciate the cinematic quality of the slash being performed off screen, with only the blood splatter visible on the concealing object?
This game is so underrated and under appreciated. Overall it’s probably the greatest game ever made from a technological standpoint. It’s not even my favorite game of all time, but what they were able to achieve while still be chained to last gen was insane……and for being as detailed as it is for as massive as the game is. Elden Ring doesn’t have sh*t on this game. The only people that say otherwise are jealous petty Xboxers that are desperate for any sort of decent game. So when a decent game does come out they sit there acting like it’s a masterpiece. Elden Ring is a 7.5 AT BEST.
@@clalam5241Not a bad take at all. Elden Ring is grossly overrated. That’s why it’s combined userscore is sitting at a 6.8-6.9. It’s called being objective. People that think Elden Ring is better than this are the insane ones. The quality level of everything in Elden Ring is literally decades behind.
Remembering how her hunting, acrobats, spearmanship, and combat skills in ZD are quite simple in gameplay, now damn she improved and improvised to the next level! She's gotten way dangerous and deadly asf loved it😩👌GG totally deserve the recognition for this~
That was really cool. I haven't played the game since I beat it last year so i only just started my New Game Plus today to train up before hitting the burning shores this week. I think the most impressive part of this was knowing where all the enemies were without pinging the focus every 2 seconds like I have to lol
I haven't played forbidden west yet, but man, these animations and all the mechanics you can use to get around...in aN OPEN WORLD GAME? it's on another level, I swear
Horizon is one of my favorite games and I absolutely love the combat in both versions, it shows Aloy’s progression in fighting technique, first she could really only reliably stealth kill people, now she still relies on stealth but can also throw hands like nobody’s business
@@renekraan8125 Oh no. That was such a relied upon tool for me in the first game! Hahah lol. I bought the second game, but won’t be able to get to it for a long time. I have quite the game line-up to go through first.
Silent strike changes quite a bit based on opponent and your position in comparison to the opponent. Approach a shielded target from the front (stealthed of course as silent strike needs that) and you consistently roll up and over the shield to backstab
Okay that was sick as hell. The fact that you dont end a light hit combo with an heavy one to ruin your chance to hit the blue spot on an enemy, then put that blue spot on an enemy by jumping back and shoot him, then use your grappler while still being in the air not for long before landing, then press the circle button to jump out of the point of grapple to go back to your Sunwing. That was the most skillful sequence I've ever seen.
I bought my PS4 for Bloodbourne, but the Horizon series made me feel like it wasn't a waste. I love these games and watching you play makes me want to go back and perfect my skills as an apex predator. Nice job.
moves quickly and stealthily pops out and does murders before anyone has time to react hitches a ride on a passing robobird swings back and mops up the remaining mooks does not elaborate
When you put it all together its absolutely brilliant the way you can pull off all those amazing moves. Its an absolute pleasure to play these games because they work so effortlessly. Practice makes perfect as they say
Only 3 things I miss in Forbidden West: - whistle to draw attention - Aloy don't activate a trap she made if she step on it - objectives marks follow the route on the map; in Zero Dawn these marks appear in the compass to the direction of the objectives but the marks on the screen follow the route traced on the map, making it easier to follow it since there's no on-screen map. In Forbidden West both objective and the personal marker only appears in the direction of that point, doesn't follow any route.
Might have to go into settings but I'm pretty sure there's a pathfinder setting that does this. I prefer to just have a waypoint exactly where it is w/out the compass because you can make your own path with how much you can climb, fly, etc.
Only part that was actual combat was the 2 kills before launching up to the sunwing. An energy surge combo to fully charge the spear into a light, heavy combo to strike an energy resonance with an arrow to detonate it
I found the combat needs still some refining, because especially against machines i used to evade constantly in an arena without getting the space from the maschine that i needed to refocus and plan my next attack. I also had a lot of problems to evade attacks from maschines without geting hit and sometimes wished the shield she uses for gliding was still usable as one, even if it needed to recharge before i could use it again or something like that. I hope for an improvement in some way for combat like that in the upcoming dlc.
What you’re describing here is playing style related, while I do agree the combat can be improved, and it will for the next game as this one was from its successor, those issues you mentioned are not really related to combat mechanics as I don’t have those issues, however I used to, until I improved my playing style, depending on how good you are properly learning all machine attack patterns, they are all telegraphed to a degree depending on how powerful they are, and some of them have area effect, meaning that while you’re inside this area, you can not dodge them. Once you learn all attack patterns and effects, and how to dodge/avoid them, you’ll pretty much be able fight any machine at any difficulty with no damage. Just like the poster of this video did for humans, he took the time to learn what’s necessary to look this badass, and you can too, if you dedicate the time to do so. I sucked at it at first, and I’m not fast at all at being good in video games, but after almost 1000 hours with this game, I’ve learned to kill anything while remaining untouched. Oh, and I only use hunter arrows as anything else feels too easy, yes, in ultra hard.
@@Vic_n78 Yeah ok, i have 115 hours or so in the game and platinumed it and i understand what you mean with the patterns, but i found it quite inconsistent a lot of times. Like dodging a specific attack might work 6/10 times with no apparent reason that something else was done differently. Just to be clear, i am talking about the big guys like Slitherfang or Tremortusks. I don't know, i got frustrated a lot of times during these big maschine fights, which isn't uncommon for me, but i felt like i wasn't in control enough as the player and it took me out a bit, you know?
@@jezzluck Getting the a platinum trophy is cool, but that says nothing about how good out combat can be, I know it can be frustrating, the Slaughterspine had me pulling my hair out sor a long time. Depending on how much you like the game and how much time you want to invest in it those 6/10 success rate will start to improve. Also, while I can pretty much kill any machine without damage often, it doesn’t mean always, because there are many factors at play in every fight. Slitherfangs are very easy to kill, specially if you learn when to shoot them as you can cancel many of their attacks, you can even cancel them going underground. Plasma can os are the most annoying thing about Tremortusks, the shock cannons too, but they are very easy to take out. You take out the shock cannon first, then the plasma cannons, after that they are a piece of cake. Practice the timing on your dodge, I personally find dodging extremely gratifying and therapeutic 😂. When my skills sucked, I put the difficulty settings to custom: Damage to Aloy: Story Enemy health: Very Hard And fought every machine over and over and over until I mastered them all. Oh, and also easy loot: ON That way while practicing you get a lot of machine parts, win-win. Once you feel confident, put everything back to very hard and see how it goes, or start a game in Ultra Hard.
They put the Focus because you're supposed to use it, without Aloy's tech is just Assassins Creed not Horizon. Nothing wrong with this gameplan that but definitely is not "how it should be"
I was expecting you to mess up immediately because of how differently the two games play. At least you were on a low enough difficulty that you didn't have to worry about it too much.
Wow, very nice. This reminded me of those far cry stealth kill videos people upload. The spear stealth kills in this game are brutal. I fell out of my chair the first time I saw one. Like, wtf was Aloy doing between the two games?
I love how much they've improved on mechanics in this game in comparison to its predecessor, every part of it seems to be an upgrade and the variety of skills and abilities make for some pretty creative takedowns!
These silent strike moves are great, also had them. We were so excited with my husband each time. Key is to attack before they get a hold of you 100%. You can also use smoke bombs, although I find just attacking funnier 😬.
Whoa! I finished the game ages ago and didn't even know you could do all that stuff. I did find the upgrade skill trees v confusing compared to the first game. Hats off to this player though!!
