Healthcare really is the biggest issue here in the US. I'm in Georgia, and if you take an ambulance ride to the hospital, it's $1000. Insurance does not pay it. So, before you even get to the hospital you already owe that much money

I'm American. In regards to letting your kids play outside, you can't really do that here. About a month or so ago, there was a 7 year old girl that was murdered by the FedEx driver that was delivering Christmas presents to her house. She was playing in her front yard while her step mom made dinner. If I let my kids walk to the park (they are 12 and 10) that is about a 30 minute walk, I'd get arrested for negligence. Now I could do that when I was a kid. There was times that I would leave in the morning, and wouldn't come home until the street lights came on. You can't do that anymore.

I cannot wait to move to Europe. I was Born with my eyes wide open in the US and understood at an early age that the US is a subpar country in many regards (healthcare.) Certainly not the “best country” as we were taught. We do have amazing cheeseburgers though!

The outsized sense of paranoia about every other person in America is real, man. I played outside plenty of times as a kid, but like, the times I've hung out with friends in Europe and have noticed that I've been looking over my shoulder or making sure doors were locked when no one else was even worried kinda drove it home. And oh yeah, our healthcare "system" is an absolute nightmare on every possible level. Like, to the point where we really don't deserve to be lumped in with real first-world countries until we fix that. My experience has been that it exists to deny coverage or care at every possible opportunity, lest you disrupt the company's profit. Absolutely unacceptable.

I've lived abroad in the UK before. It takes this kind of perspective for Americans to realize just how bad things have become in our home country. In America, ordinary citizen's lives & health are thrown away like garbage so that the wealthy insurance companies & gun lobbies can profit. We're brainwashed to believe this is the only way things can possibly be done & anything else is "un-American". I feel especially sad for kids who grew up doing "active shooter" drills & even now as adults, if they hear anything that sounds like a gun shot they go into lockdown mode. Thanks Phil for this interesting conversation starter.

05:27 Yes it is true - mostly. It is a special cultural trait for the UK though. Historically police officers, formerly called „bobbies“ did consciously leave guns at the station as their focus was on deescalating a situation and mediating in the communities and neighborhoods which they were also trained for.

And, i love this country, i am an Army veteran, but i loved living in Germany, and we have our problems🙁

There are armed police in the UK, who will respond to an armed incident, but most police don't routinely carry guns. An armed police officer in the UK will have had to apply to undergo extensive additional specialised training.

GREAT video. I was working the first time I listened to it, so I actually watched it twice, which I’ve never done.

I once made a comment on a video about the US (don't remember the specific subject), and I quipped, "Yeah well, we have real beer", and an American commented on it saying, "Yeah well, you may have real beer but we have the best military in the world, would you rather have real beer or a strong military?" to which I said, "Real beer, 100%". They had nothing to say after that. Why would a country that *isn't* war-like, want an enormous military??!

Listening to you talk about the flag and prayer made me laugh and sad at the same time. I went to an American Catholic school; we prayed and said the pledge of allegiance every single day. It was an honor to get to go to the office and read the prayer or the pledge.

USA is also a very litigious Country. 💁🏼‍♂️ GUNS: American COP’s walk like they just got off an 8 hour Horse ride. That’s because they have to carry a big ole’ pistol & ammunition. Lol

5:19 Yeah, still mostly true I believe. But, as (especially) London gets more and more subject to violent crime, I think even the UK is on the slippery slope towards a constant presence of armed police. Most police on the street here in Spain are unarmed incidentally. Much love to you and Deana. Have a good Christmas.

Yeah man, last girl is mixing things. Maybe that 100€ was for another thing. You can have private healthcare in Spain if u want, but is unnecesary. Public healthcare is way better and absolutelly free, even if u got no one document. Since u are here, y will be treated. There's part 2, 3, etc of this video, and if u watch It u will, heard the other people speaking about 100% free healthcare un Spain, 'cause that's how It is.

Considering all the battles to make the United States the United States, I feel she did the right thing. I'm so old, I prayed in school. We lived on several Army bases in Germany, never saw any German people laughing or looking when we stopped for the flag being raised in the morning or lowered at night. After all, American's did liberate Germany

The girl complaining that America brags too much about "freedom" is forgetting several things: 1) America was actually founded specifically on the concept of freedom. Americans rebelled against the rule of King George the III and declared America's independence from England. 2) Religious freedom, and freedom of speech were also key tenants in America's Constitution and Bill of Rights. At that time in the late 18th century, many countries did not possess these freedoms, and there are still some countries today that do not have them. 3) America was an early leader in many concepts regarding personal liberty, and many European countries followed suit. Even the Napoleonic Revolution came after the American Revolution. Of course, the argument can be made that America learned a lot about freedom from England and Europe too, anywhere from Cromwell to the Magna Carta. But at the time of America's founding in 1776, monarchy and not democracy was the leading choice of government.

Well the ideas came from the old world to the new world. The problem I see is that many US politicians and populists act as if the US is the only one with freedom. If you look at various statistics comparing countries, the US is not in the top ten in terms of freedom. The freest Americans were probably the indigenous people, before the colonialists came of course!🤔
@celticlass8573
@celticlass8573 Год назад
That explanation should also include that the "freedom and personal liberty" that the founding fathers were fighting for and tried to implement, was only for certain people. Indigenous people and the many millions of slaves weren't part of it.
