Being from a somewhat older generation, I grew up learning how and when to wear a tie, in either work or social situations. If I ever have a doubt about ties, I wear a tie to an event, and if it appears I'm overdressed, it's simple to remove it discretely.

Ashley, you said no ties with Harrington jackets at 1:59, but what gives with the examples at 3:20? Those are clearly Harrington jackets (one with a standing collar, one with a pointed collar), not bombers. This might be just my opinion, but regarding the formality levels between Harringtons and Bombers, I believe most people would say that Bombers are the more casual option of the two, and that Harringtons can be dressed up or down.

I generally agree with Ashley in her videos, but I believe shirt and tie (without a blazer) is fine for a high school teacher like me, especially in a warm state like Florida. On cool (or special) days, I may wear it with a blazer. I'm a bit surprised at Ashley's dislike for the shirt & tie look.

I live in Texas and work in a causal office. I love my suites and sports coats, but most summer days I wear just a tie and dress shirt. I have a minimal wardrobe and I like to add color to my plain white and blue dress shirts since I go without a jacket due to Texas heat. I feel it’s acceptable and looks better than just a bland dress shirt.

Pastels are absolutely fine unless you're in legal or finance. Stay far away from gem tones.

It depends. Personally I stay away from them, because they are not really timeless classic accessories that you can wear on many occasions. I prefer a normal watch with silver metallic band, as it goes well with many environments, from business casual to casual, plus it really shows that you are a step higher in the men styles game, compare to your other friends, IMHO

I have a question, So I believe in your backpack video you mentioned that you shouldn't wear a backpack with suits as they will ruin the shoulders, however i am a business student at college and while i don't where suits everyday i do wear them more than the average student, Do you have recommendations for students who wear suits alot? More importantly are there less formal/less expensive options than a leather briefcase?

Hi Ashley, I need some advice. I would like to add a black low cut sneaker in my wardrobe and at the same time I also need to upgrade my safety shoes (I am an architect and my work requires me to visit construction site). Recently, I saw and like a black safety toe athletic shoes (skater style) sneaker from a Caterpillar Shoe outlet. I am thinking I would save up money if I buy this shoes as I can use it at work and as a casual shoes as well. Am I making the right decision?

@@alfacentauri3686 the CAT shoe is a safety shoes designed to look like a sneaker, that will look great with chinos and black jeans. i am just not sure if it is right to wear it with casual attire.

@@3LUENILE The sneakers are casual and not dressy sneakers. But I would say that the context of visiting a construction site allows you to stretch the dress code rules as necessary. Even with a suit. But back at office I would switch shoes.

I guess it's just how it is, men's wear tends to consist of long sleeves and a collar... Example, some time ago my workplace suddenly decided to implement a formal dress code from smart casual, in the name to boost staff morale, and it means for us men a dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes and a tie, with a blazer/suit for meetings/events... For the ladies, they just need to look presentable, with the option of going sleeveless as well... While we men tuck ourselves in a restrictive and constricting attire, the ladies are able to stay free and cool in their collarless and sleeveless blouses...

if you wear it with shits and long pants it's acceptable. only with solid coloured shirts, do go with simply designs cufflinks and not screaming luxury brands or many gemstones. you could watch gentleman gazzete on his collection

tank-top undershirts - Before you say "NO! NEVER!", can I wear it under a t-shirt on a hot day, if all I want to do is keep my nips hidden while staying as cool as a cucumber? I guess I want to know, what are the best clothing options for men with dark and pokey nips in warmer areas? It's exercise attire. You should be sweating if you're wearing joggers. So wash them every time you wear them. If you're wearing exercise attire as casual day wear why bother washing them at all? Might as well stop bathing as well.

Here’s the million dollar question: Daniel Craig’s Skyfall outfit is recently considered one of the most influential menswear outfits in movie history (www.gq.com/story/james-bond-skyfall-most-influential-outfit/amp). It’s great for particular climates (like Scotland) and colder seasons. But for many of us it’s not feasible for most of the year. Can you piece together a (not insanely expensive) spring/early summer of the outfit? E.g. subbing the N.Peal cashmere sweater with a similarly colored polo. In other words can Ashley P Weston remake the most influential outfit one of the most versatile? Thanks - you da bomb! (That was for Dorian’s sense of humor).

You have apparently taken off your jacket and aren't any longer dressed for meeting people. You are definitely more casual, actually more than if you had no tie. You can take off your jacket and keep your tie if the location has moved into a more casual mode. I often do it somewhere after the main course at parties.

1:58 - ties can be worn with bomber jacket, not with harrington jacket. if the harrington is of one solid, versatile colour, i don't see any reason why it is more casual than a bomber jacket. it has a more substantial collar. bomber doesn't really have one. either wear a tie with both of them, if not don't wear with any. bomber is no better than harrington. i just think your personal taste, like many other ppl today, leans towards the bomber jacket. but i beg to differ. most times a collar frames the person's face better and somewhat gives the illusion that he or she is slimmer.
