The point of having multiple people acting as DPR is so that if anything happened to one of them that DPR would still exist and continue silkroad... hence why shortly after Silk Road shut down and Ulbricht arrested, Silk Road 2 came out and DPR was back at it again. The reason the name DPR was even used was because of how Dread Pirate Roberts in Princess Bride seemed to never die, because the last DPR always taught the next DPR and he would take the helm when he was gone. Thats why Dread Pirate Roberts name was used to begin with and I'm not sure why Kira left all this out of his video.

That has nothing to do with what I just said, first of all they had no idea that there was evidence on the laptop so that's a fishing expedition based on your assumption that there's any likelihood that the evidence would be destroyed. Also, if he was unaware of an investigation why would there be any assumption that the evidence would likely be destroyed? There wasn't even hard evidence for pretty much anything in this case until they stole the laptop, they weren't issued a warrant so they stole the laptop. It was highly contested and the judge didn't allow them to use this defense because it broke the entire case and they wanted to put someone behind bars for the silkroad, even though there were MULTIPLE people running the DPR account. Go watch the documentary on this whole case it'll help you understand what actually happened here.

That guy is just a very strange dude, and I am impressed with what he was able to pull off. It's surreal. Sometimes I wonder this: "How was he so grandiose not to realize that eventually he will get caught?" I think it's a hard question to answer. No matter the anonymity of the protocol, I just find it was very foolish to think that there will not be other ways to be caught. It's also a very strange dynamic that he had with that Variety Jones character, but I can see how that sort of person could pull of or be a part of SilkRoad. What's odd about Ross, is that he's upper middle class and there must be a moment where he just decided to move over to the dark side, and then he just kept falling deeper and deeper. It isn't explicitly about Ross, or the actual function of the silk road, which is why I led with that. It's about curtin the admin and a dramatic, narrative telling of his story and the story of one of the corrupt agents, in a back and forth perspective switch from their meeting until the arrest of Ross. The culmination of all my interest on the topic, read all the books, watched all the movies, read all the forum posts and the compiled info. It has probably close to 400 hours work done and I was terrified to finish it, since I have no idea how good it is. I think it might be a flop, but I spent over a year on and off working on it, rewrote it at least 6 times in different styles and presentations. So will see I guess!

You rarely find me do that with a lot of video. And I don't even watch the Silk Road movie that much. I do believe in you and in your ability to bring out great content with it, and now that I learnt what's about, I am super pumped to watch it. I see you have very good content and know how to hunt down marginal stories that are very interesting. You just have to find a way to monetize it and get paid, check out what Jack from DarknetDiaries does, because I think there are people out there that would pay, considering how bad the content on the internet got. Funny enough, with all the capabilities out there and all the open info to learn, the majority of content sucks, I think because people don't want to put in the work and think it's easy to produce at high level.

I read this book and it is a lot of government/FBI propaganda to make them look like heroes when they were breaking the law at many steps to try and make and example of Ross. They also paint his character completely inaccurately. Ross' mother has been out there telling his side of the story and it's way more complex and plausible than this book but I'm sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I can have a VM setup specifically so my home IP address never interacts with the VM in anyway and setup a VM to legitimately commit crimes on the same network setup I use to go to college and do work on. OPSEC wasn’t necessarily at fault here, it was mere stupidity. Which was my point. He could’ve used the clear web and alt-alias’d both. DPR also wasn’t the best programmer, SysAdmin or networker/server manager either but even then, that’s still not at fault here. Nachash and The Antichrist/Intangir used to operate Doxbin on the dark web and Intangir was caught for his activities with Lizard Squad, though he was never caught for doing anything with Doxbin. And Nachash admittedly said the feds likely exploited his code - which is crappy PHP code - to hijack his site and he was also never caught. OPSEC isn’t the only important aspect, neither is being a good programmer or networker. It’s all of the above. Being able to not be greedy and using good judgement to know when enough is enough and when pack your shit up and leave is arguable just as important as having good OPSEC. It’s the little things too.

If he’s not good with OPSEC and only good with physics, for example, then maybe he should stick to that and not be a generalist. It doesn’t take much to learn either. For example, if you’re already a tradesmen and you possess decent mechanical ability, then you at least have your feet wet. Plumbers aren’t HVAC technicians, but they have a brain built for mechanics and can learn how to repair AC systems. I was a regular machine operator performing setups at a corrugation plant and then became a plumber for a bit and now I’m a supervisor in a carpentry shop. I was able to perform those and move up the letters, from a regular Joe-shmoe machine operator to a tradesman, because I started in a mechanical field and at least knew how to use a socket wrench. I wasn’t born with the ability.

Keep in mind that it was honestly *very* believable- “RedandWhite” would have known who “FriendlyChemist” was and had allegedly taken out their partner already. He knew that FC had to be legit on some level since they did have evidence that they had info, and was an active threat- also keep in mind all of this happened over the span of a few days. The photo “evidence” with the numbers and the list of other socks they used likely cemented his belief.

The video is great, except for one thing near the end of the video: Ross Ulbricht didn't receive 30 to life in prison, he was sentenced to two life sentences and 40 years to be served concurrently and without the possibility of parole. Well he is never portrayed as a crime lord but just as another member of this gang, surely one of the lower guys who do negotiate on the behalf of others. People who get busted and take the blame for all of it to protect the higher ups. However yes I don't believe any Hells Angels guy would have looked up how to get on SR and installed Tor and started chatting to this guy. The story seems fishy from an outside perspective. But this guy was making tons of moneys through his market place and he thought at that point he had someone killed for 80k $. So he probably started to feel like a powerful crimelord and in his mind it made sense that Gangs wanted in on this and he wanted in on the Gangs Profits. Dollar signs before his eyes and everything. I can totally see why he fell for it but as an outsider watching a youtube video that has already spun a narrative for you it is easy to see the conclusion.
