@@eulisesacevedo4929 It didn't get banned because it was too fast, a change in regulations meant that it was no longer eligible to race in that class (3.5l displacement, delayed for a season after reliability issues meant teams could revert to last seasons cars). Not just the 787b that was outlawed, but all rotaries. Also, it wasn't all that fast compared to its rivals, in fact, it was actually quite slow. What it did have though, was amazing reliablility. A stunning car to see and hear, but the 787b had a lucky year, that's all.

Formula One cars in the eighties in my home town of Adelaide could be heard 10 miles away from the track. The turbos where massive. During qualifying there was no limit for boost 1400 to 1500 hp was made from these straight line 4 cylinders. They banned turbos after these insane HP levels where reached in the eighties.
