I feel like a lot of people attributed a boomer mentality to McCann because of this, but those quotes are pretty agreeable. As the catcher, he’s just trying to stand up for his team, it’s not like he was doing it for “the integrity of the game” or something.
Yeah, I think McCann was misrepresented after this event. Gomez was barking the entire time. Plus Freeman was heated, which I rarely saw during his Braves tenure
This wasn't bad looking in retrospect on anyone's behalf especially with the context The Gomez incident with the Pirates on the other hand will forever make me view Gerrit Cole as a crybaby. A damn talented crybaby but, a crybaby nevertheless.
There was another incident with Mccann where he got the boomer mentality label placed on him, or was against the marlins, and that young pitcher who passed away had hit a homerun and he wanted to look at it. McCann got mad salty for some reason and that when he and the braves that year was called the sooner braves cause they tried to defend the unwritten rules
