NBA Hall of Famer James Worthy joins the Dan Patrick show and discusses when at UNC James Worthy first realized Michael Jordan was a better player than he was
James holds a distinction that no one else will ever hold. He was the last man to be the best player on any team that included Michael Jordan, other than Michael Jordan.
Worthy was much too humble to boast of his own talents. If you think Jordan was better than Worthy in college, then watch on RU-vid the 1982 championship game of UNC vs Georgetown. Worthy was unbelievably talented and let his game to the talking. Watch it for yourself.
Jordan was good in college, but his jump shot got better as he got older, I think that happens as guys get older, where they understand the game better and know that they can't solely rely on their athletic skills. We are seeing the same thing with LeBron as he ages.
@@kgar5String LeBron scored 40,474 points and his outside shooting has dramatically improved since he turned 30. He is shooting a lot more 3 pointers than he did early in his career. So in otherwords you are full of crap!
James did a message to my son by video on one of those sites to connect with celebrities. He did a great job and it made my son very happy. Only thing that would have made it better would have been a chance to speak with him directly.
James Worthy was the best college player to ever come out of NC. Jordan didn’t really surpass him until a couple years later. Bottom line Worthy was a BEAST !
@@CinqueMalcolm-He is a humble guy. He isn’t going to say it out loud. All you have to do is go watch his game in 82. Jordan picked Worthy in his starting 5 out of every player to ever play. Every player. Why do you think he did that? Nostalgia? Even MJ knows what Worthy was, maybe you should accept it too.
@@wordragon I'll go by what Worthy said himself instead of some guy on the Internet telling me not to believe what another man said himself on camera. I'm also old enough to have seen them both play at UNC and am a lifelong Laker fan that grew up in SoCal/LA.Take care sir.
He's lieing. I'm 55 and saw him interviewed the first time Jordan retired. He said he knew he'd go pro and be an all-star from what he saw. But, he didn't know Jordan would end up being THE MAN. They're all trying to embellish Jordan's legend now.
every one knows mike time he was second 3rd year n nba was untouchable individually but honestly him and worthy were both equally needed the year they won together
MJ wasn't better than James until the mid to late 1980s, possibly the 90s, well into their pro careers. MJ was scoring more in the 80s, but still wasn't better overall.
Mid-80s, MJ's second year in the NBA is correct. I've bled purple & gold since Magic's rookie season. He's my favorite player all-time and I love James cause he's worthy but Black Jesus was the best player in the league when Bird said "That was God disguised as Jordan." Danny Ainge was on Ys Guys podcast and said "When our STACKED Celtics swept Jordan's Bulls in 86 we ALL knew Jordan was clearly the best player on the floor. There was never a doubt at the end of any playoff series he was ever in who was the best player in the world.”
