When Do Hair Transplants Start To Grow? Prepare Yourself Mentally For Surgery

No one ever talks about the mental aspect associated with surgery. It can take a HUGE emotional toll on an individual. Especially if you don't know what to expect. The truth is that hair transplants are journies with highs and lows. The first three months are probably the most challenging in the process.
Three months can feel like an eternity when you're waiting for your hair transplant to grow, but the reality is that it is barely the beginning. Even if you are at the six-month mark, you are barely half way through the journey. I wanted to make this video for all of you out there that might be struggling with the mental aspects of surgery. If you haven't had surgery yet, prepare yourself mentally. Learn about hair transplant surgery, go on the Hair Restoration Network, and do your due diligence.
On average, hair starts to grow around the third month, by the sixth month it's usually around 50% but may vary from person to person. The total time takes 12 months, for some 18 months. If you are at the fifth or sixth-month mark, do not feel discouraged if you don't see the growth you were expecting. There is still time, TRUST IN THE PROCESS. But most importantly, make sure you research properly by going to the Hair Restoration Network.

I had COVID that lasted a good 12 days. I thought I was fine but I began to notice a loss of more hair than normal. Following some research, I've come to realize it’s from the strain my body went through during that time period and also due to the shampoo I had been using. So I started doing yoga and meditation daily and changed my shampoo and conditioner to littleextrraa coooconion anti hair fall kit. And today I don't face any hair fall. Thanks for this video! I feel so much more at peace.

I am using LittleeeExtra Cocooniooon shampoo for 5 months now and have used 4 bottles so far. Pros: 1. It feels natural. 2. My hair feels great after washing, particularly if you skip the hair oil. 3. Hair fall has reduced a lot gradually. 4. Scalp feels clean and it’s effective against dandruff. Cons: 1. Doesn't produce much lather, which means you might need to use a bit more. 2. When I heavily oil my hair, I notice my hair remains somewhat sticky after washing, and a slight residue of oil can still be felt.

Excellent piece. I had a transplant performed 01/27/22 and I am experiencing severe massive shock loss. Shock loss occurs in many, many patients as just about everyone that I know that has had a procedure performed unexpectedly suffered through a 4 to 8 month shock loss period and I am talking about over 100 men. I believe that shock loss occurs in much more than 5% of the transplant popluation as indicated online. I know guys that lost all of their native hair on their scalp and all of it grew back within six to twelve months. It is imperative to be mentally prepared for this and to understand that this phenomona is temporary. It should absolutely be discussed more by surgeons and I don't know what it is not.

I planned my second transplant 1 month before I started building my custom house. I'm so busy the months are flying by, and when I'm done I'll have a new house and new hair. I don't want to try to date during this time, so I just work 16 hour days. Use your time positively, start a business, build a house, take full advantage of the down time, because you'll want the up time to go date or enjoy life. Accept that your life is going to be a bit lonely and boring for a few months, but then you'll be in a far better spot.

Hi Melvin, Thanks for your content & channel. You're actually a big reason for me not getting a hair transplant and instead trying to reconcile myself to a shaved head. I mean that sincerely and respectfully too. I appreciate you showcasing the reality of hair transplantation surgery (the illusion of density over density and the need to play catch up etc). You dispelling a lot of the romanticisations of hair transplant surgery is really a very positive thing. Thanks again and good luck with this current procedure. I hope the growth is fantastic. :)

Great video with some important things to consider. I'm scheduled for my HT (4500 grafts) in two weeks, but I decided to use an expensive and well renowned clinic 10 minutes walk away from home after learning about the strain of travelling and lack of attention after the procedure that many experience. They include regular checkups on site and four prp treatments. Not cheap but hopefully worth it in the long run. I'll also try to get used to sleep elevated on the back beforehand to make that process easier.

Hi Melvin. Thanks again for taking the time to write a such informative piece. Are you aware of anyone that did not recover from shock loss of native hair? I have done a lot of research online and the consensus view seems to be that all shock loss cases recover. My surgeon indicated that he has not seen one case that did not grow back and he has seen multiple cases of severe shock loss.

This most important point is maintaining the hair after transplants years later. If you don’t take propecia or use rogaine, your hair will shed again. You must maintain what you end up with after the procedure and money spent.

I'm 1 month post op. Mine was a three day process to extract/implant 3000 grafts to the hairline/frontal area (1000 grafts per day). I'm sure my doctor thought I was a lil bitch during then numbing injections. The first day I didn't know what to expect so I sucked it up and gritted through it. The second day I gripped the armrests of the chair, held my breathe and told him to just do it and get it over with. By the end of the second day I was convinced I wasn't going back for day three. I was willing to spent the rest of my life with a f*cked up half done hairline just so I didn't have to take those needles again. 3rd day actually wasn't that bad though, I guess because my head was still partially numb from the two days prior. I have a year now to recover from the trauma before I go back to get the crown done. 😰😰😰

My clinic said to use Minoxidil topical, I use the foam ! Just need to use it 1 time a day not two times a day that’s BS. Don’t start using it for the first 4 weeks post op. 👍😎

Hi Melvin, I noticed in month 2 your hair tends to go one direction? Was that a deliberate approach by the doctor in recreating your hairline to go one way, or was that hairstyle choice? Is hair directions to one side normal? The reason I ask, is that my HT doctor made my hairline turn one direction. It doesn't look unnatural, it's just annoying when I try to slick my hair back lol

What about the existing hair. I still have hair on my head and can hide my lower density with fibers. I will have a full top of the head 4000 graft transplant in 3 weeks to achieve more density. My first HT. I was hoping that my existing hair will grow quickly back and that the transplanted then I dont care that much if they need a year.

Hey Melvin, Are you happy with your hair transplant with Eugenix? People have mentioned your hairline looking sparse at 8 months post transplant. I am considering Eugenix for mine but I'm starting to have 2nd thoughts.

You can only take so many grafts at a time or the scars may not heal properly. My doc said anything over 2500 should be done in two sessions

I was getting ready to go for strip surgery and after watching a video of the procedure I got cold feet and decided not to go. I can’t get past the thought of cutting a long piece of flesh out of the back of my head. How does it feel the next day?
@HairTransplantNetwork
@HairTransplantNetwork Год назад
I’ve never had strip, is there any reason you didn’t choose FUE?
@mikeenfinger5985
@mikeenfinger5985 Год назад
Transaction, over harvesting, uneven harvesting etc… strip is better if you’re going to do it, in my opinion
@HairTransplantNetwork
@HairTransplantNetwork Год назад
@@mikeenfinger5985 All of that can be controlled by the clinic you go too, a talented FUE surgeon has little transection. They manage the donor and extract grafts evenly. You could say the same about strip. Permanent nerve damage from a poorly excised strip, stretched scar, permanent shock loss above and under the strip.
