Hey Russell, I run to 52 inch ex mark Lazer Z which I almost can’t believe it it will be 20 years old next April it has almost 10,000 hours on it, 98 something the last time I looked. I sharpen my blades once a week I rarely had a lift get that kind of damage very rare I can keep sharpening till they get thin enough so they’ve bend too easy then I replace them. I think I usually get a season and a half out of a set of blades something like that enjoy the videos keep them coming👍
@@GwinnettLawns no not the original engine as I understand it air cooled engines usually last less than 3000hr The first engine lasted 3400 hours the second engine lasted 3700hr The third engine is just over 3000 hr (Kawasaki 23 horse) I replaced each Hydro pump right and left one time The wheel motors are still original. the spindle bearings are greaseless And I’ve replaced two of the three the third one is still the original bearin. the front yolk bearings are original and I replaced each front wheel bearings one time. I actually went looking at mowers today a new X mark to basically get what I have now including the new bagging system is a little over $20,000 which is crazy I think I paid $8000.00 something back in 2003 mower and bagging system brand new. I’d like to stick with X mark because it’s been so good to me but I think that price is too highI went and looked at a bad boy and I can get a pretty nice set up for six or $7000 less not in a hurry maybe next spring or the spring after we’ll see any suggestions feel free john
Found a old Honda 5518 in a garage, been in there for over 20 years untouched. Got it running, cut decent. But after the belts got messed up I let it sit in my garage for a few months. Finally got new belts, started it and the main pully blew up. After looking at the blades I was surprised at what I saw. I’ve never scene such worn down dull unevenly worn blades in my life. The ends almost worn down into a point. Don’t know if I’ll get it running again, but I’d like to see how it cuts with new blades.
Our dust in PA is not great for lungs, skin or work clothes, but it doesn't really do anything to blades. My blades wear faster from sharpening than anything else, so they last a long time. Besides, I have at least 3 sets of them per mower.
