I had six horses and two donkeys, at the time. My friend, who had one horse and a donkey was going away overnight. I went over so she could show me where everything was in her barn. It literally took her an hour to show me how to feed and clean the stalls. I kept reminding her that I've had horses for many years, but she still had to cover every detail..... we still laugh about that.
I don’t have a horse yet but I’d be terrified ngl. My mother used to own this bay morab mare named Sheba. This was many many many years ago, but she had to be sold. She got updates occasionally though. When the new owners went on vacation, the stablehands didn’t water or feed her. She coliced and died two days later. Scarryyy
This is almost too accurate!! Cracks me up!😂 I was known as “Powder girl” because I prepared all my horses’s supplements in separate bags before vacations. I would then label two containers (one for each horse), and put their individual supplements in their customized container before I left. To top it off, I still wrote instructions…🥴 It’s so hard to leave and trust people with their care!
I prepped out baggies of supplements and meds to be added to soaked mash 3x a day plus 4 hay feedings a day too! One of the two horses is 34 and needs those soaked mash’s! I totally get this! My neighbor is a saint. I paid him too!
We always use ziplock bags labeled by horse and feeding. The sitter just has to open the stall doors and dump the feed baggies into their buckets. The stalls are labeled with the horses name and coat color so they can match the bucket to the baggie label.
I can never get enough of your videos whether they are training, time off at the beach, or your skits. You are wonderful and I hope you are healing well.
"I know she's going to forget to soak the grain and then both the horses are going to choke and then they're going to die and then what I'm going to have NOTHING" HILARIOUS hope you're doing better Marina God bless
I've just had my first week away in about four years. While we were away the cornfield next door caught fire and when I came back and saw the blackened trees I couldn't believe how close it was to our wooden stables and tack room where every bit of my tack was, plus my boots, hat, brand new back protector etc. I literally could have lost everything (luckily only one horse was in because she was injured but they had to move her out because of the smoke). So while I'm a bit biased about that part being hilarious I did enjoy the video. It certainly rings true about people trying to explain all the supplements etc. My friend is going away next week and I'm looking after her Clydesdale. She's already bought a whole lot of extra buckets so she can leave the feeds ready rather than write it all down 🤣.
@@Jonhdudley2 No please don't say sorry! I didn't lose anything at all, I just said we came very close to it which was scary, but we were so lucky the fire brigade got there just in time. Honestly, I was just sharing an anecdote, not having a go at you at all. 🌻
Haha this is sooo true 👍 I look after 3 horses and a 🐕, for a good friend who will only go away for 2 nights at the most, i have to talk to horses for 15 minutes each 3 times a day and record it.. Xx
Love your videos every time! Hope you’re doing well! Zinni is so cute! “I know she’s going to forget to soak the grain and then both the horses are going to choke and then die! I Died!!!! 🤣🤣
OMG!! Spot on again😁 why is it so true that when someone says “ my horses are super easy to take care of “ they hand you like 40 sheets of instructions, and you feel like your brain is going to explode I am currently grooming an adorable little pony whose owner is out of town, there is a lot of info for one pony, but he is seriously the cutest thing ever
I feel you, lol. I love going away but hate it so much at the same time for everything you said haha! On point as usual Marina!Hope you are feeling well and can get cleared to going back to working with Zinnie on camera. WE miss seeing your girls.
😂😬The accuracy is amazing - I'm SO grateful when I worked at a barn (24 horses to feed) they switched it up and had all the boarders do prepped bags, I could dump those in the bucket and soak, no worries about measuring anything 😂 They'd just reuse the same bags every week 👍 Also, you're in my prayers Marina! Hope you're recovering well 💕
Love that idea. Did they ever have trouble closing the bags? The ones in the video she was using looked like they might close and don't often see bigger bags available.
@@imzadi83fanvids7 The gallon ziplock ones with the zipper always seemed to do the trick and never had trouble closing! Worth getting the name brand ones that are thicker and sturdier for reuse 😄
I only have two horses but my quarter horse is 32 years old so he has a very complicated grain routine because of his lack of teeth. I always feel bad for my pet sitter dealing with his complicated food. 🤣
Hi! I have been a long time fan and I love your videos! They are sooo funny🤣 just wondering if you are still doing the big trial ride with the mustangs. Hope you are recovering well from your car accident!
my friends literally never leave enough instructions (we all show cattle) and i always have to call them and be like “you didn’t leave the amounts of feed” so i overexplain EVERYTHING for them lol
I literally went on vacation for a week and I cried because I misses my horse, also I'm only allowed to see my horse twice a week because he is boardid at my trainers house, it's a vacation for me when I see him
This has perfect timing! I’m going on vacation next week and will be gone for 10 days. Thankfully, I board so I know my mare will be fed and given fresh water, but I’ve had to arrange for turnout time and there is that worry of what if something happens? Great video to lighten the mood! Thank you for this!
i had to babysit two horses for a week and MAN that was a lot more work than i thought it would be, the feed wasnt as complicated but still. got my foot stepped on in the process of taking a halter off of one of them, and nearly got kicked trying to get that same one out of the field lmao. (had to smack his butt to get him to go and then he cantered off abt 5 strides and then bucked and farted (we deemed that the horse f-bomb LMAO) he did that act multiple times
i get alot of anxiety when leaving as well! we went to my sisters wedding and i was in the wedding party and the wedding party was staying the night and my neighbor (who is in rodeo so he knows the drill) forgot to feed my dogs and horses so now i have ALOT of anxiety over leaving lol
Omg I own 7 horses 3 stallions 2 mares and 2 geldings it takes me about an hour to feed all of them my stallions are around 18’2 so obviously they are bigger they have like the biggest food buckets on the yard it’s so funny if you watch Erin Williams you will probably know how she raps the lead rope around gee’s nose and I actually think that it really helps
lol I just went on vacation last week, with 2 easy horses (one is young and one old and are just in the pasture together all day and night) it was still hard for me to let go and let someone else take care of them. and I really missed them lol
Its a bit sad but since having one horse euthanized due to old age and selling the mare that my family never rode, its been easier to travel because I only have one horse. It's still hard because I've always had three horses but my miniature herford bull makes up for it lol
omg YAHHHS when we would go to competition my horse wasn't on the team, so my dad would have to feed her, i was always worried he would get the feeding time wrong or the amount wrong or not enough alfalfa or not soaking the alfalfa long enough or... yeah, i couldn't survive a week without my mare! luckily we don't do vacation much (at all) unless something happened that would never occur again like the time we got a week FOR FREE in panama city literally in a condo on the beach so we could walk to the beach in like 60 seconds
I looked after this lady’s to horse she very me a router and timetables and three sheets of A4 with tiny writing of instructions, and a chart on the rug temperature thing and a demonstration!
Honestly, that's pretty reasonable. If I were house-sitting for you, I would just ask that the feeding instructions were clearly written out and that the supplements were clearly labeled. Putting it all in bags preportioned is the dream! The ones I am horse sitting now just get hay, so all I have to do is spread hay, check the water, and hang out with them for a little while to make sure they are all good.
I just got a horse 3 weeks ago and we r leaving for Colorado on Thursday for a week! I'm kinda scared bc she's a little naughty but I praying she'll be ok
