I'm not planning on a part 4 since what this really comes down to is "If it was made by an individual, take the author's year of death and add 70 years. If it was made by a corporation, take the first date of publication and add 95 years." But if you like video games feel free to stick around for game reviews, discussions, and other things :)

First Edition Bratz will be entering the public domain the same year Shrek will. as both debuted in 2001. You'll have to wait an extra few years to use the Bratz girl's later designs.
"As I Lay Dying" from William Faulkner, "Swallows and Amazons" by Arthur Ransome will be entering public domain next year, if they were published in America.
Yeah, olive oil was the main star of the strip. Popeye was a one shot character. He was really well liked and came back for another story than pulled a "fonze" and took the strip from olive!
Hollywood staff reveals, "After Mickey and friends entered the public domain. Lots of genres are coming towards the public domain, after it linked all franchises what made from the past and present. However it got special plans for franchises the future, after the public domain next chapter".
5:40 - 5:46 I think you had Mike Myers on the mind there, CFT. I can't wait for The Cat in the Hat to become public domain. Mostly because I have a feeling Warner Bros. is going to keep their Cat in the Hat movie stuck in development. It was a mistake for Universal/Illumination to sell the movie rights, considering how neglectful WB can be. I'm more excited for 1938 Superman (and his cast)to become public domain because that guarantees we'll eventually be getting more wholesome Superman stories where he is a beacon of hope and a paragon. Hopefully, we'll also get less grimdark, 'deconstructions' and "Evil Superman" stories because those have been done to death lately. I also hope Popeye, Captain America, The Hobbit, Rudolph, The Andy Griffith Show, Star Wars, James Bond, Rugrats and others are put to good use when they all enter the public domain. EDIT: Ok, my Cat in the Hat prediction didn't age well but Hollywood is still pretty unfair towards a lot of creators and franchises sometimes.
6:01 Fritz was Actually created in 1959, in a Fanmade book named "Cat Life" of what I read on Fritz’s Wikipedia Page, and Daisy Dick was in diffidently in 1937, so she would enter the Public Domain in 2033.
The thing about things going public domain in Japan is Japan's copyright is actually shorter. For now. We're working very hard to make other countries match our bad system that our own research we did with our own money found ain't what it should be. We already got Canada! As I understand it if the foreign work was also published in America, the individual American Copyright in America must lapse here before we can use it here while it would be free to use in Japan. So what I'm saying is there's gonna be a time when Godzilla will be public domain in Japan but not in America and anyone can make a cheap slasher movie with him as long as they're publishing it over there. It's not too long for it either. Re: Spongebob I'm faaairly certain anything woth a Nickelodeon logo on it is not creator owned and counts as a work for hire aka it's the 95 duration.
Star Wars in 2072 and Toy Story 2091! I hope I am still alive by then to see it!😭 I'm currently 24 and these Franchises entering the public Domain make me feel so old!

This is probably my last vid on the public domain, but the UK has a pretty in-depth webpage on their copyright law here: www.gov.uk/government/publications/copyright-notice-duration-of-copyright-term/copyright-notice-duration-of-copyright-term It depends on what versions of the characters you're looking for, but it will likely be late 2000's or early 2100's
@Content Free Time you said that Pani Poni Dash will enter the Public Domain after 70 years of the death of Hekiru Hikawa right? What will happen to Rebecca Miyamoto, Himeko Katagiri, Rei Tachibana, Miyako Uehara, Kurumi Momose, Sayaka Suzuki, and Ichijou? Will the manga versions of them only be used after copyright expires?
Correct. If all of the characters were created in the same year, they'll all enter the public domain at the same time. Looks like the anime came out five years after the manga, so the anime versions of the characters will enter the public domain five years after the manga versions.
I'm excited for the next 15 years, since that's when characters like Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and even Bugs Bunny enter public domain. Anything after 1941-42 or so it's too far off for me to care about. Also, I think there would be major pushback if they tried to extend the copyright terms again. People have a much different view of copyright laws than in 1998, and there are a lot more copyright reform advocates in Washington today. I could also imagine Google, Wikipedia, EFF, Creative Commons and many others being fiercely opposed to such a change. The 1998 extension didn't really have any opposition, and didn't get much publicity due to the Monica Lewinsky scandal at the time. Even if they were to somehow extend it again, I think it would only be for individual authors rather than corporations. Democrats do not want to pass a bill that would help major corporations, and Republicans don't want to benefit "woke" entertainment companies like Disney and Warner Brothers. (Congress had a GOP majority when the 1998 bill was passed) The main reason copyright was extended in 1998 was to match Europe's copyright laws. Most countries have switched to Life + 70 years, and very few have more than that. The only countries I see extending it in the foreseeable future are ones that have less than Life + 70 years.

A handful of their early films, yes. Using them in other things would get a little iffy though because they didn't all pass away until 1975, meaning their likenesses wouldn't be in the public domain until 2071.
If Elmo from Sesame Street enters the Public Domain then people will end up making him the butt of all jokes taken up to eleven turning him into a punching bag
