Maybe it’s changed, but when I was in high school you could drop out at sixteen only with your parents’s permission. On the other hand, in England for those who don’t pursue college, school automatically ends at fifteen-and a college degree is only three years.
Seems like they foreshadowed George's future with Mandy in almost every season. 1. George's comment on Sheldon befriending a senior in season one: "An older woman. Nice." 2. Georgies bet with his father that he'll be married before he's 25. Can't remember the season. 3. Georgie wanting to marry a girl on TV in season 2. (It might not count, but still) 4. Janna's first appearance. 5. The Stephen Hawking episode when Mary overheard Georgie and Janna on the phone (maybe). 6. The pregnancy scare, again with Janna. All of which was either season three or four. 7. This scene right here. Did I miss anything?
He got girls in a trouble: - Jana dumped him after hearing that he drops out for a job, because her father is against boys like him - He left a girl pregnant after he pretended that he's a man (by lying that he's 21)
@@Galactis1 more like blue state writers are lazy morons. For kids that did not want college, they can enroll in work-study. Designed for seniors like Georgie, finished all the required subjects, but can get credit for working. He can show up to school in the morning, work his job and graduate with his classmates. Blue states contain such uninformed bigots.
It's a major theme in life: people from poorer families face a greater temptation to drop out of high school and land a job, to help the family financially. In the short term, it makes life less stressful. In the long term, less education can cause problems down the road. However, Georgie is exceptional and will overcome!
i think he did go to community college (mentioned in the big bang theory). Also, he ends up becoming a millionaire with owning a car company (he loves fixing cars)
@@TheMail518 Yes he did. I wouldn't be surprised if the family and Mandy or her parents pushed Georgie into getting his GED, or going into community college. Maybe Georgie will be tutored by Paige.
@@ianandersen265, he's still stupid because he had to stay and get his GED! If he would've graduated and be done. He wouldn't have to deal with getting his GED! I'll finish because he only had less than a year and be done. But had to do it again because he needed a high school degree. He already went 11 years. One year wouldn't even hurt. It was less because it was during the semester. It's a huge waste doing it again. Still stupid at the same time.
I like this principal, he’s fun to be around, actually tried to communicate with Georgie and figure out his problem, tried to help him, and he’s also a good drinking buddy.
I told my fiancé if we have kids and they wanna drop out; we will listen to their reasons, points, and overall opinions. Now I will say that first to get a part time job (if they don’t have one at that point) ease them into the workplace. Then experiment how they tackle with school and work because responsibilities is all about juggling. Then if they still want to drop out of school and work full time that’s ok but I want them to have a GED or something with a high school equivalent at least. I’m not hyping over college because they’re other ways.
That is a great way to do that. Most people are like you need that diploma if you want to be successful. My best friend is working on his GED and his life is just fine. He struggled in school but was great mechanic, had him work on my car a few times. He dropped out because school wasn't going to further his education. His parents kicked him out once they found out. When he told me he was dropping out I was like, why? Then he told me his reasons and I saw where he was coming from and agreed with him. More people need to open minded that school isn't for everyone but having a diploma or GED is still important.
3:24 Meemaw's face was like: "Why should I help you? You didn't listened to me when you were a child." That's because Mary when she was a teenager skipped out of class. Mary: "You used to punish me when I was a kid." Meemaw: "You were a little pain in my neck." Meemaw pisses her off because she was a bad girl with bad habits.
Missy and Georgie were nuisances for parents because they were stupid and imature; despite Sheldon's immaturity, the parents kept spoiling him. Turns out, in TBBT, they were the mature ones, while Sheldon was the immature one.
Yes high school is not for everyone but most people finish just to have that peace of mind. Thank god for the in-laws and the store or he would not have the means to build his tire empire. Grandma, you lost 2 stores, a gambling den and a house so you cannot see what is best for Georgie in the end.
Here's the thing, if your boss asks you to work more hours (even though you're still in school) or lets you pick up more hrs you need to tell your boss "Sorry sir or ma'am I understand that you need me here but I still have school and I don't want to get in trouble by my school and I don't want to get my parents involved
@@dragon22214 they did and I think the laws capped the work week for minors at 12 hours back then Although I suspect that George Jr was getting paid under the table in the beginning as he was a minor and only legitimate employed when he became a legal adult
1:30 “Oh Good. More Trouble.”. 1:53 “I’ll Pack, RN.”. LOL, LMAO, ROFL, XD. 🥴😊☺️😋😛😜🤪😝😁😄😆😂🤣😅💀☠️👻 Those 2 Quotes Get Me Everytime. The Missy Quote May Be Sarcasm (Keep In Mind I Despise Sarcasm), But It Was Funny & Understandable.
Meemaw and Dale do have a point. A piece of paper with the words “Congratulations, you have graduated” will not help you become successful. Everyone drops out of school or college and they had their reasons. No one wants to be a doctor, a scientist, a lawyer or a scholar. There are some famous people who are uneducated had become so successful. Like Walt Disney who became an cartoonist at a young age, dropped out at 16, joined the army, became so successful thanks to an cartoon mouse, the very first animated film which took years to complete, an theme park that finished before he passed away, Daniel Radcliffe who didn’t went to college, he became so rich and successful thanks to the Harry Potter franchise, Henry Ford who invented the assembly line. There are jobs that don’t require an high school diploma or college degree like construction work, business owners, store owners, restaurant owners even farmers. Some of those people had became so successful more than educated people. Please understand Georgie is a teenager and teenagers hate being told what to do more than anything. He’s barely legal and he can drop out legally. As long you embrace your dreams and follow them with hard work, patience, and dedicated, you can be successful educated or not.
Look I understand you’re much more likely to be successful with a hs diploma. But in Georgie’s case he’s got GREAT business skills AND is MAKING MONEY. Why the fuck would a parent want to kick a kid out for making money. Usually it’s the opposite. Now to play devils advocate Georgie is one year away from being done with hs. Might as well tuff it out, do enough to pass, and keep dating Janna. He would be able to work till the cows come home after. Besides he’s gonna be a senior nuff said. In summary: I don’t get why his parents are mad that he wants to drop out of hs. But it really doesn’t make sense for Georgie to do so considering it’s only one more year of his life of hs and keep being with someone he loves.
DON'T let your kids drop out, for god sake. Without a HS Diploma they will be stuck at the bottom rung for their whole life unless they get extremely lucky. And don't think college is a waste of time either, just don't let your kids get worthless degrees and it won't be bad. Point them in the direction of computer science, cyber security, ANYTHING that is in demand. Trust me, they'll thank you when they are making bank salary and have the knowledge to start actual money making side hustles that aren't a waste of time.
Eventually, everyone goes back to school. Because they want to go get there college degree. But they need a high school degree. Just be done and move on with your life. It's not si hard to get a high degree. Easy!
Yes, he can't legally separate himself from his parents at 17 unless he goes through a process to become an emancipated minor On top of that he also can't be employed legally as laws prevent minors from work a full 40hr work week but seeing as this takes place in the late 80s early 90s enforcement of this was likely sparse So he likely was getting paid directly through cash and being paid under the table
I feel like Georgie made the wrong choice in life dropping out of school and getting Mandy pregnant and becoming father at a young age. I wanted to drop out of school but stayed on to graduate and that was it.
I dropped out, worked hard to get certifications on what I wanted to work, after I paid $3500 I had 3 years of experience then I got my high school diploma under 3 months, and I make 6 figures at 24yo. I feel like you can drop out if you have a plan.
“What family you’re divorced and your kids don’t talk to you” lmao your husband cheats on you and you smother one of your children into being a bubble person his entire life , work part time at a church and also didn’t get a diploma 😂 so quick to judge other people and their lives but not quick to realize the mistakes in her own household 😂 but yk all in the name and love for god and what not because he says love thy neighbor but spit on their life decisions 😂😂😂😂
I wont say i agree with mary but i dont totally disagree with her either. Now dropping out of achool does not euin your life however u dont have to go to college to succeed in life but a HS diploma would be and look better in your application and resume. I went from worjing as a dishwasher in restuaranrs and fast food and retail jobs and housekeeping jobs now im a full time caregiver and j love it. I graduated and even tho i can say i dodnt grt great jobs the one im at now i love
3:08 Dale said that the fishing rods provided a nice life for him and his family. 3:12 I wonder how could those provided a nice life if Mary says that he's divorced and his kids don't talk to him.
This is typical of parents, they think they’re always right and that they control their kids lives, George needs to calm down for once Mary’s being a good parent
For all the elderly people who have decent lives who dropped out of school and are alive today they are living proof that it’s OK to drop out of school
Cause not everyone is cut out for collage really is just that simple... Besides back in the 90 I'm the us economy was a lot better and Georgie could support himself as a salesman
Our family has many family friends who are self-made millionaires, and at least a couple dropped out of school in the 8th grade. They like Georgie knew exactly what they wanted to do, and didn't feel like the last 4 grades were going to make a difference. In their case they were right.
