I think almost everyone at some point in their life has the Disney like desire to find and fall in love with “the one.”
We dream about the Hollywood type love stories of two people falling in love and getting married. But as good as the authors and screenwriters are, they can’t write a love story as good as God, the creator of LOVE and ROMANCE.
My wife and I are an example of How God writes loves story and proof that He does indeed still write them. Our pasts were extremely different and we aren’t even from the same continent but we both ended up at a tiny school in Dallas, Texas where we met and fell in love.
Our story is one of faith and perseverance as God spoke to me that she would be my wife. Meanwhile, she avoided and rejected me for almost a year. And it’s a story of Gods beautiful redemptive power and His desire to fulfill His promises in our lives.
So whoever you are and wherever you are we hope and pray that you would be encouraged and inspired that God can and will lead you to the right one as well.
Put your heart in His hands, trust Him, obey Him, listen for His voice, and take a chance!

I learned something from this beautiful story. I was once listening to a motivational inspiration featuring Steve Harvey and he was just saying God gives us the promise but he does not give us the details, and he went further to say "Imagine if God told you you would be rich in August 2021! He said imagine how you would start talking to people! Anyway, when I was listening to this story, especially Hunter's side of the story, I realized the burden of a promise, as exciting as it is to get a promise from God, it is also tempting for us as humans to try to take over and take control and make things happen. I also learned that when God gives us a promise, we might think we are ready, but until he gets us ready he will never give us his promise until he has done his work in us.

The burden of a promise from God. Never thought of it that way but that's well stated. I'm reminded of the promise of a child to the barren Sarai in the Bible. In the burden of God's promise, they tried to rush the waiting and Ishmael was born out of the impatience for God's timing. God is often preparing us, the way for us, or other people to receive us in the waiting. I recently had the reverse of the experience of their love story when a girl told me she got a prophetic word that I was to be her husband. She told me on the second date after the person who gave the prophetic word told her not to. We dated for a year and a half. During that time she tried to rush things so we could hurry up and get married and have kids and create our life together. I prayed for confirmation about it throughout the relationship and eventually God told me "you are not hers, you are mine, and I have not given you to her." I felt that God was saying that he was preparing us both to be who he needed us to be and who we needed to be for each other. She continued to pressure me and force God's timeline while I was trying to take things slow and respect the word God gave me. Eventually things self destructed and we are no longer together. Unfortunately, a figurative Ishmael outcome. God knows the plans he has for us, not to harm us, but to give us a hope and a future. Sometimes we must put our faith into action by keeping our flesh in check when we want to rush God's plans to come to fruition within our desired timeline. One of the most burdensome experiences is waiting on the LORD while carrying the burden of a promise he has given us. Do not grow weary in well doing for you will reap a harvest in due time.

Instant tears when you said your mom taught you. You were blessed. I never had that. However, after many years of pain, God literally sent me a husband who honors me and I NOW honor myself. Ladies: we are precious to God. Keep yourself for your husband.

I too had poor guidance by my parents. I dont recall learning anything from them other than their example of being a couple. They were like a fluke match made in heaven. They had no bad experiences to to warn me of with regards to relationships. Nor did they tell me about the importances of marriage before having children. Regardless, I am grateful to have survived the struggle of my life that I will be passing on the wisdom that I've gained to my children.

Wow. The part when you shared how you were falling in love with your wife when she didn't know you yet but you were getting to watch her live her life and who didn't know you fall for you- it was as if God gave you that experience of how Jesus knew His bride and is waiting and watching and is already in love with His bride, but yet she has yet to know Him and eventually grow to love Him back. This is so beautiful. God is amazing~

I really wish I grew up much more sheltered than I did, there is so much pain in sin. God makes me happy by telling me He can still purify me. I don't think non-believers at all understand what we're going through. We WANT this purity so bad and God is the one who comes with love and kindness _and power_ to create this and sustain this in us and I feel so touched and comforted. Have you ever dreamt someone you love has died and then later during the day suddenly realized it's not true? If you've ever lost someone you know how much you just wish to problem-solve their death but there is mo way to do that. So when you have a dream like that - the happiness and relief of realizing the truth at some point during the day is absolutely amazing. It's a very intense, positive thing. This is how I feel when I remember God's goodness, love and power. When I mourn because of the sins I've done and what they've done for me and how much I want this purity I ruined in myself, and then remember His goodness and power - it's that sort of feeling. Very intense, positive feeling. I'm so thankfull. So comforted and calmed down and relieved.

Thankyou so much for sharing guys! Just starting out on my surrender journey. It's been hard trusting God with this part of my life, I always get my hands in the mix and mess the whole thing up lol. My greatest takeaway is patience. I need to be patient with God and trust him. Not trust what I see but trust him to fulfill his promise. Be blessed. I am in a relationship that has gone down and i am confused where i stand with him. I still love him bcz hes a great guy, i pray over it. I have decided to wait on God's timing rather than try to force it. I am embracing this journey of waiting and learning about marriage. 5 months back, i barely knew what a christian marriage(even tho i am one) looked/feels like. I have no example to show me how this looks like but i am glad youtube christian couples has helped me alooot. I am learning so much. I believe this is why my relationship wouldnt have worked if we had got married b4 me knowing all these things i know now. I also believe that God is taking me thru this journey for my better bcz i have gotten closer to God now thru this separation.

This was so very amazing and helpful for me. I'm waiting or trying to wait on God to place me with my husband, being 43 and becoming an empty nester is very hard when it's lonely sometimes. But this was very encouraging and I thank you so much for being transparent with your story because I struggle sexually sometimes myself. This sounds so much like my story. But, I’m Hunter. I sometimes feel sad because God hasn’t yet told my partner. And, we’re in separation. But, I pray that God aligns us with his will, even if it’s not each other. And, to continue to prepare me and keep me patient. Also, prepare him/or whoever God chooses for me.
