I come back to this video on an approximately annual basis like a creativity pilgrimage. Visually mapping out the full polyphonic arrangement of this piece, with the bass, arpegiated chords, melody, and countermelody (feat. shiny ditto) is a stroke of genius. On its surface, the video is hilarious and charming but pop the hood on this thing and you find it's also a highly creative thought, executed with precision and care.
I remembered the whole freaking boat trip when I was a kid, this music going along with my excitement as I thought "there is NO WAY I'm actually going to the full map of Kanto". And then I stepped off the ship and realized this wasn't some postgame. It's the whole freakin' Kanto region years later than I saw it last. Best video game twist of my life. And the music really makes it.
It may be the contrast between their apathetic expressions and energetic movements, or the hilarious coordination between purple and cyan, which emphasizes their contrapuntal relationship in a very pleasing way. This video is gold.
I come back to this video regularly, it's been my favorite video on the entirety of RU-vid for years and I can't imagine that position changing. I love it an insane amount. Thank you for this gift, Random video editor #17.
The Dittos on the left and right and their timing and placement is terribly underappreciated. This is amazing! The way they all match up perfectly with the song is beautiful!
This is insanely captivating, and it's a shame it doesn't have more views. As someone who has a serious infatuation with audio-visual art, I can appreciate the detail that went into the choreography of this whole thing. The way you represent differences in notes and the fluctuating energy of the music with the placements and timings of the Dittos is masterfully executed.
I've known about this video since it launched, but I'm just now appreciating the editing process that it took to coordinate the Dittos with every note (even the fills in the background).
My intense love for this video is a reminder to myself that my version of adulthood is more than likely just some kind of masking for some form of undiagnosed autism and I aught to spend time unpacking that... nah, I'm just going to replay this for the 18th time and enjoy the dopamine.
I watched this video while on the bus the other day and unconsciously did the Ditto dance with my shoulders until people started staring at me not knowing what the fuck I was doing.
I dont go to school for music or anything cool but even a bot like me can see how every single ditto represents something specifically and its really neat
