Do what you can today and leave the rest for tomorrow there is less stress that way. This is a hard lesson to learn. If people come to visit your house they can help or go home!!! True friends don't care.
listening to you talk about your life tonight has pulled me back from having a full panic attack after a really rough night. thank you for sharing. I needed to just sit quietly and listen x
Also.. My kids are still pretty small (6 and 2) and I can honestly say you are one of the people who inspired me to even have routines, better schedules, etc. it is definitely hard with littles. And I almost lose my mind multiple times a week... But you are truly Inspiring! If you don't have it all together... Nobody can tell! ;)
Hi Kimmie! Loved your video today and it really hit home when you said "There is only one person who is perfect, Christ" ! I too struggle with wanting the house to be perfect and kids perfect. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤
I love your attitude about juggling everything in your life! Taking time for yourself is so important but actually taking that time is SO hard! As a newlywed, finding the balance between our home, being a wife, working, etc. is difficult but you have awesome wisdom! 💕
I'm sure you hear it all the time but thank you thank you for the encouragement you share! I listened to this while folding laundry, totally overwhelmed because I'm 2 days behind on everything and I'm feeling a bit better now than I was before!
Just wanted to thank you for the live instagram video last Saturday. It was so much fun and thank you for chatting with us!!!! And It was great to talk with Kally and Deric too!!! Love you guys!!!!
As a momma of three, I totally understand the busier now than when they were little. My oldest daughter is 23 and on her own, my next is a son and he's 19 and just moved out of state in December and I miss him terribly, my youngest son is 12 and of course home with my husband and I. Its just a different season, different responsibilities and needs. We just spent the last 4 days going to visit our son so that takes time of course. Enjoy your kiddos at home while you have them. Its so true that they will be gone in a blink. By the way, your crack me up folding your socks, trying to find a match. Love watching you!
Hi Kimmy- long time subscriber, first time commenter :) I liked this video, love when you open up and hearing stories from when your kiddos were young. You're so relatable to every woman. I love how you empower women no matter if they stay at home or work full time. Thanks for being you, you're doing a great job (as a RU-vidr and a Mom)!
Omg Girl, I just Love how Real you are, & Passionate you are, when it comes to Cooking, & taking care of your home, I see so Much of Me In You, Tyfs Girl,X
Hi. I think you are so great. I completely understand about feeling guilty when you take time for yourself. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I, like you, work hard for my family and agree that we should be able to take time for ourselves without feeling guilty. I love everything about your channel. Great job!
omg ! this video help me sooooo much ..who ever ask that question about taking care of little one vs older kids I'm glad...cleaning & cook while the kids are taking a nap ...best advice ever
Generalized anxiety disorder perfectionist here. But to look at me I'm a tornado of a mess. I spend so much time on the minute details in order to obtain "perfect" only to get overwhelmed and frustrated when the perfect doesn't start manifesting. So I quit. Or I cry. Mostly feel like a failure, even though I logically know the perfect I'm striving for is unobtainable. I also do this with situation. I romanticize how an even should be (birthday, date night, vacation) and then feel disappointment when it doesn't live up to my expectations. How could it though? Anxiety is so illogical and exhausting. I pray daily my kids aren't afflicted with GAD.
Gretchen Jeffers ah I feel like you were just describing me to a tee! It's so frustrating! I will spend a month debating the "best" way to do something that would only take an hour if I would just get moving and start. When I wake up and the day is off to a good start I try to build some momentum and accomplish what I can, then I don't feel as guilty on the hard days. Don't be discouraged sister!
such a great video, my kids are teenagers and I totally related links. it was so nice to hear others feel the same way and you got me off the couch to get cleaning.
We call it a " mental health day" where you gotta blow bubbles - go to the park - whatever one wants/ need to do - what you need to do for your mental health.
I feel like that many days. Hang in there. I have to remind myself to take my time and appreciate what you do get done. You are doing a great job Kimmy. Thanks so much for sharing your life and and experinces.
The answer to the first question made me feel good! I've had anxiety for years and on the days it's really bad, I'm basically paralyzed. There's things around the house I really really want to do but I just can't get myself to do them. People have said it's because I'm lazy so I started to believe it. It's the exact opposite. I'm not lazy. My brain just won't let me get it done. Anyway, your answer to that question made me feel normal...as normal as you can when you suffer from anxiety. I'm so glad you talk about it!
We are moving back to Canada after serving as missionaries in the Philippines and having a full time house helper.. (which was weird at first, but then people told us we were selfish if we didnt because ladies here need the job so bad).. anyway, we have 3 boys.. our helper is better at cooking, cleaning & laundry than i will ever be. I'm super nervous! I've been watching your videos to get tips on how to run a household on my own again. On top of it, I'm going back to work at my parents business when I get back. I clearly need all the help I can get. 😮Thanks for being real and honest. Love your channel. -Andrea
Hey Lady, just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your channel. You inspire me to be a better mom and wife. Can I just tell you, I made a huge batch of your moms New England clam chowder and it was "the bomb"!!!! So good I thought nothing of having a little bowl at 6am before leaving for work!!! Just this past Sunday night I made your meatloaf! Another hit with the family. You brighten my day :) Thank you
She inspires me to be a better wife and momma too!! I need to try the meatloaf...trying to expand our palettes over here with one picky eater (hubby) it's not always easy to convince!!
Brandy W. I Agree, I just found her, & I Love Her!! She's so down to Earth, & I can see so much of Me in her, Especially when it comes to Meal Plans, & Prepping
Good morning Kimmy! Nice vlog! Good for you for taking the day off when you need to. There's nothing wrong with that. I think everyone should do that when they could. You're doing good!!! Like I've told you in other comments, you and Deric are both doing a great job all the way around!! Love you guys, enjoy your day. : )
I totally relate to every thing you said! Great job on taking time for yourself. Whether you work at home or somewhere else you're on the clock 24/7 when you're a mom!! Never feel guilty for taking time to re-charge. You've convinced me to buy an apron. :)
Every mother needs a day of rest. If we don't take care of ourselves we can't take care of the family. I am making that meatloaf tonight. I can't wait to eat it! Love your channel!
I just bought my very first apron a couple months ago (because you inspired me) and I LOVE IT! ✨✨✨ Makes me want to cook and clean! So motivating! Thank you🌞
Perfection is unattainable , and your husband is right if you say "Im going to have anxiety tomorrow " You most likely will I have struggled with anxiety since I was 9. Instead try and say " I have alot to do tomorrow , but I will get what I can and tomorrow will be a good day" then when you wake up say " Today will be a good day , I have alot to do , but I will get through it " Positive self talk is super helpful.
It was so good to hear you say how you are happy to stay at home!!! There are times where I don't go out for a week and I'm very contented. So happy to find someone who feels like I do!!! My granddaughters ask for meatloaf all the time so I will try yours when I make it again. I agree with you about getting more done when they are little. We are retired and I just HATE doing all the things I know I should do around the house, LOL. TFS and take care...........
I so wish there was you tube when I was a young mom, not feeling alone with feelings and struggles. I had an in home day care for the first 6 yrs of my son life, now 18 soon moving out. I totally get where you're coming from. I know that you don't mean things have to be perfect, but in a certain state of order for you to feel comfortable in your home, which is different for everyone. My messy brother taught me ( by observation) that the children will remember all the time spent with them doing fun things, enjoying time together far more than they will remember how clean the house was while growing up. So my advice is to not be so hard and demanding on yourself, enjoy each day, savor the small things (accoomplishments). As for the end of this vid, I'll come kill your spiders if you kill my roaches, they are my kryptonite. Namaste Kimmie :)
I feel like I had my stuff together WAY more when my kids were younger too! Much more structure, house was more kept up with & organized activities every weekend. I worked full time & was a single mom so it was an extremely busy life but I had it all together. However, Now I'm a hot mess! Same situation as you mention I think....nobody is home to keep me going. I procrastinate constantly. The kids are basically self sufficient so other than me doing laundry, making sure food is stocked & cooking dinner....they could care less about me or the house! We have guinea pigs & a bunny to look after but we make it a family activity.
Alynn Herschell I agree. Not sure if it is not having a kid home or just being older, but I sometimes have a hard time getting things done. I am getting motivated watching RU-vid videos.
Hey Kimmie! I know how you feel I've been there and back (I'm very much a perfectionist)... I used to work full time, take care of my 3 kids and take care of my home. It's very daunting and stressful (to say the least)! Over time I've learned you have to have some time off to yourself, period 😄
Watching this while checking my university exam plan for the next few months and organising! I will be married in less than a year, and still be in university... I really wish I will be able to keep it together half as good as you do as a mother and wife! Because right now I can't, even though I am so much of a perfectionist... exactly as you said, perfectionists aren't the ones who always have everything sorted, for me it's just never being ok with what I've done, how much I accomplished, having to do more while battling with laziness and tiredness! I love your videos, they make me feel more positive about what I do and what I want to achieve in my life...and they're super funny as well! You're such a nice and lovely person! Have a nice day, cheers from Italy!
Kimmie, Thank you for answering my question first. I literally had a fan girl moment!!! ........ I feel that same way as you explained when I am off from work and I have this perfect plan in my head of what I want my day to be and then like you I literally freeze when my day off occurs. My therapist suggests not necessarily planning in so much detail and thinking my day is ruined because I don't complete each task of say a million things. Thanks again for responding I appreciate it.
I loved this! I have a 2 year old and almost 1 year old and everyday I wonder if I'm doing very good at this mom thing. I get anxious a lot and have trouble keeping up with everything. But at the end of the day everyone is feed, clothed and loved on and that's the important things, right?!? But I made myself an apron last week and am trying to start establishing some routines so I can hopefully get better at balancing things and not feeling so overwhelmed. Thanks for sharing your videos :)
LOL, I had recently been telling my daughters that Aprons have super powers. I get more done, indeed when I wear one! I have been making them like Heidi at Rain Homestead! And I make mine to go clear around, like a jumper. So much FUN FUN FUN... I have my Great Grandma's apron she passed away wearing..... SO BLESSED! Thank YOU, for all your hard work on these videos and sharing your blessed life
my son has adhd and with his comes behavioral issues and issues coping with simple things. when you were a kids did you have behavioral issues with your adhd? how did you and your parents deal with it? were you on meds? as a mom i find it so relaxing when its not to hot out side or to cold , to sit in my car with the window down in my drive way .
Belinda Calderon I have been thinking the same thing, I always want to refold her towels for her. I particular on his my towels are folded. That being said I don't have 4 kids, I'm sure if I did I wouldn't care how the towels are folded. Love ya Kimmy!
Belinda Calderon My mama is the same way. She will come and visit and literally refold all of our laundry and rearrange the clothes hanging up in the closet 😂
Belinda Calderon haha! me too! I prefer to use my seams! lol!! ;) Kimmy does pretty darn good though, MY home doesn't look THAT good!! :D So we're even? Bahaha!! (Not even close!!) :D
2 of my girls were on spring break as well, the 3 yo has SPD and it threw her off, I had extra night shifts at work, and the house paid for it. And now, I am. I feel you on the trying to get back into the routine!
Oh my goodness! Kimmy, I tried making your meatloaf tonight for supper, and seriously, it was hands down the best meatloaf I think I have ever made! Delicious, moist, well seasoned, it was so good!! Plus, my husband loved it, and he's picky about meatloaf! I was all worried about my adding the diced tomatoes, and also sneaking in the grated carrots (like you added on your other video) I was worried he'd hate that I did that, but I snuck 'em in, and we all loved it! Thank you!! Yum! 😋❤️
Great Video! I'm glad I'm not the only stay at home mom that goes through highs and lows. And yes I to can be an introvert at times and some family and friends like to call me antisocial. I could care less who's feelings I may hurt along the way because I have to take care of me so that I don't have a major break down from all of the things that happens on a daily when it comes down to taking care of my family and trying to find the "Mommy Time " in between. Thnx for the Video!!!
I commented one other time about your anxiety. Take a mild med. I have to take Paxil. At first I fought taking something. However, would you not cast a broken arm? Would you not have stitches in a horrible cut? What your experiencing does not show like these things. However, you need something as serotonin levels may be low etc. Talk with your Dr. When your unwilling to loose a day to this anxiety, panic etc.Do it Kimmy even if you don't decided to take something, at least talk to a Dr.
Loved today! I absolutely love your daughters new haircut/style. She's so adorable and looks like such a young lady! I can't believe how grown up she looks! Also, the spider thing.. #MOMLIFE !!! BWAHAHAHA! Hugs & blessings!
I can relate so much. My kids were my motivators too. I just started reading Sink Reflections hoping to put some structure back because honestly I feel lost during the day. Oh my stars that green polka dot apron is adorable! 💜 it!
Greetings from the UK! You and I sound so similar! I'm really extroverted, but have periods of feeling introverted and wanting to just stay home and not see anyone. I also get burnout and need those "do nothing" days. My kids are both school age now and I agree that when you aren't following a baby/toddlers schedule and have to motivate yourself it can be soooo tough! It's comforting to hear there are other people in the same boat! xxx
You motivated me to buy an apron. Found a super cute one at target. I love wearing it! It's my work uniform. I tell myself I must do housework while wearing it!
Great vlog!!! You gave me some great advice about my anxiety!!! And it's okay to not be a perfectionist!!!! You are my idol Kim! 💜U and have a blessed day!
I took today off. Only the kids chores got done today. The house was in a great state so I did nothing. It has been weeks since I had a day off. My body and brain needed the day off. A day of rest is so important.
The line. Yes. That is a huge ADD thing! So much of my stuff doesn't get done because I need, like the old song says, the moon to be in the 7th house and Jupiter aligned with Mars, lol.
I'm a introvert and yesterday I got out and just went to Wal-greens and looked around and to Publix and it felt nice. Today, I don't wanna do anything..
I love your channel and the advice you give!! I am going to be a first time mom in September after years of struggling to have a baby and I am so worried about getting overwhelmed, not being able to keep up with stuff, am I going to know what to do etc. Its nice to know that what I am feeling others have felt it or are feeling it and that I am not alone.
Kimmy, lol I must say at the end with the spider I was seriously like trying to hold it together bc I absolutely hate spiders and I thought how you handled it was amusing and made me smile but I would've been like running out of the room... if I would've been in your shoes 😂. Anyways I absolutely love watching you... you inspire me to work harder to be a better mom and wife, you are such a go getter and motivater (that is probably spelled wrong, sorry) and what an inspiration YOU are! Thanks for sharing your vlogs with us..oh and my last thought for this comment when your mom said she feels busier now then she did when she wasn't an empty nester- I believe it's bc now she has not only kids to concern for but grandkids too, ya know?!? lol as mom's we always worry about are kiddos no matter how old they get, I feel grandmas do the same except now they worry for grandkids too 😊
I started making my meatloaf with 1 lb hamburger and 1 lb pork sausage, it's a bit greasier but it has amazing flavor. I cook it on a broiler pan so most of the grease drains off.
Hey Kimmy, I just wanted to let you know that onions burn my eyes SO bad, but I have started using a bottle of thick salsa in mine and t saves chopping. We LOVE it.
Hey Kimmy,I love your Channel and All of the advice you have for us. You're such an inspiration. I have implemented many of your suggestions and ideas. It has made a world of difference. I have to stay to a very routined life or life just becomes chaotic. also I put cinnamon on the floor in corners of my home and it keeps out unwanted critters. Have a great week Kimmy. xoxo
Your multitasking with a baby reminds me of when I was exclusively pumping. I used to do everything while pumping. Drove, cook, told laundry, dry my hair...I don't miss that for anything!!
Great video... I would encourage young momma's to lean on us momma's/grandma's with adult children ~ if possible, ask one that you look up to if she would be willing to mentor you. Mega (((HUGS))) to all you momma's...
I love your channel your so real and everyone can relate to you. Especially on the anxiety thing I'm a mess and totally get the paralyzed feeling!!! What is that? To me it's like there's too much so I won't do anything.
Kimmy is there any possibility of you doing a video of how you planned/organised /stayed a float mental health wise while in the younger seasons of children x
my daughter, age 15, has had anxiety attacks, and sometimes can not cope with things. this was from the doctor and now on Prozac. I pray for her because I don't want to except her using medication... any thoughts or ???
I totally feel I had a better handle on things when my kids were small. Life was a little more in my control then, now with everyone's activities taking us in 4 different directions, I feel so scattered! Question, I know you are from Massachusetts, is Boston named after your home town? Have a great week! 💗 Mickey
just found your channel through my sister. something that has helped with my anxiety is a magnesium lotion. I was reading into in and something said we lack magnesium, it also said our bodies will absorb better through your skin rather than a supplement. so I went to our local health food store and found a magnesium spray and lotion. the spray you can spray on the bottom of your feet and rub in, the lotion you an rub all over, I recommend doing it before bed because it will relax you and make you sleepy. which will also help you get a great night's sleep, I see my anxiety worse when I haven't gotten a good amount of sleep. love watching your videos, I'm a stay at home mom, 2 under 2. I'm looking for a cute apron to help motivate me around the house, great idea!
Have you tried taking an Epsom salt bath when you have anxiety? I take one before bed often it calms me down, helps me sleep better. I also put lavender essential oils in the bath water, lavender is calming. Do you use essential oils?
Oh sure! These are the espom salts I buy, I really love them. I buy both the Aches and Pains (green) and the Nightime Relief one (purple, lavendar) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J2Z1PE4/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00J2Z1PE4&linkCode=as2&tag=wwwmyeveryd0d-20&linkId=bc5e2298165e1cfaec3a5e0584851a35
I just told my husband last night I wanted to get an apron because I keep staining my shirts with grease while cooking, but you make an awesome point about it being motivating! I can totally see that...it'd be hard mentally to sit on the couch and watch Netflix while wearing an apron 😂
Kimmie, the spider, it made me laugh. I react the same way but I CANNOT KILL ANYTHING! I 'm hopeless in that regard. Mind you, here in Australia the huntsman spiders in my house are bigger than my hand (yep, got the widest glass imaginable and a slim cardboard to cover it with so I can cover those spider legs without squishing the spider -cause if I did I would have vomit to clean up too - then having an outside door opened the widest to run it outside and lose the spider in the garden). It's a terrifying process is all I'm saying!!! Unfortunately the media is responsible for our delusions of grandeur. We see photos or adverts with the family at the table displaying perfect table manners, showing courtesy to each other, all immaculately clean in a fabulous house that has a wow factor......... You get what I'm saying. It's not real life yet we all judge ourselves because we don't reach that perfect level. We don't all have that perfect body shape so why the heck do we all diet to get that slim sized waist? Half of us don't have the legs to the neck that completes the picture, so why do we kid ourselves only to get so misguided cause we have set ourselves up to fail? Perfection s only a state of the mind. Each one of has to reset our mindset. Your videos and your openness helps me and I expect others too. I hope you get something back, too? Take care, from Australia.
I think it is definitely tougher as they are getting older. I feel like all I do is run kids around, and try to fit in cooking and cleaning around it. Add in college application stress...ugh!
Socks! It was like you only found a few matches! Hahahaha! I have a WHOLE basket full of socks I can't match! In one video, you said it motivates you to do RU-vid. I made a recipe page on Facebook to help motivate me with meal planning, prep & having dinner ready most nights! People love it. It works for me. Sometimes I use instagram to motivate a project along, too! Who doesn't like posting their final results of anything really!
I do think it is a bit "easier" when kids are smaller. It's like you have things a bit more organized ?? I think a lot has to do with the kids getting bigger and now characters and attitudes come into place and repeating yourself, fighting with siblings etc. Idk i feel the same as kimmy tried to explain. I felt I had it more together when they were tiny. It's like you worry less because since they are small they are with you. Now my oldest will be 14 and entering h.s and I'm freaking out!! It's A lot! Every stage of motherhood is difficult, it's just in some moments you feel more overwhelmed than others. lol i don't think I made sense. Aaaaahhhh!!😆
Hi Kimmy what can I say Love your channel watch it everyday and week. I So Enjoy watching your videos you give me motivation and I'm So Inspired. Keep doing what you doing.👍👍💕💕
I'm such a introvert it can be terrible. My oldest son goes to preschool so that forces me to get out but I get in my own world and then I end up getting depressed so I make myself go out and do something with my littles ones. The balancing is tough for me too. I get momma guilt for doing too much housework and not spending enough times with the littles.
i hate aniety i can feel it too. i have always been anxious but the older i get the more debilitating it is and its hard to function because ive also battled depression
Hey Kimmy! What advice would you give to someone just starting out on RU-vid? Any tips or tricks you have learned along the way? Really enjoy your videos!
