well because it was for a proffesional cooking show. i highly doubt he cares when he is sitting at home. customers in high end restaurants probably dont like their burgers being messy like this
@@I_AM_MONKEYY I'd agree but the burger I'm thinking of wasn't particularly messy. It was tall but it wasn't covered in sauce. Gordon could've squeezed it down a bit and it would've been fine. IIRC he didn't even take a bite out of the thing, just faffed about over its height for 30 seconds before shooting the owner in the face.
I thought he wouldn't approve.. I had no idea this was him until the end. his cheese isn't melted at all, and the butter browned a little toooo much lol..
That’s cause he always uses high quality cheeses and those always have high melting points. I’m not a chef but I think the cheese would melt the rest of the way if you let it sit for a sec from the heat from the burger.
Coincidentally just came from watching an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where Gordon was hating on a tall burger because it wasn't possible to eat it normal
There’s a big difference between making a fat burger for yourself, and making it for other people and selling it. His job on kitchen nightmares is to help, and to understand where the company is losing its money at. So, big burgers like this are expensive. So of course he would tell them not to make it so tall, that’s where they’re losing their money.
Brit’s don’t know how to make burgers. These super tall burgers are all form and zero function - awful to actually eat. Thin Midwest American butter burgers are how a proper burger is done.
Ty for mentioning my country the land down under that has suffered so much from CASEOH, ever wonder why it’s called the land down UNDER? Caseoh never come back here or Australia will become Atlantis. First he sunk Atlantis and soon he’s gonna sink Australia LMAOOOOOO
@@lrut5274 because one is inable to just not put and egg on the burger, toasted buns and maybe a half inch smaller patty the recipe is set in stone, no variance allowed
He’s the GOAT in my opinion. I’ve made some of his recipes and they’re genuinely some of the best dishes I’ve ever had. His dishes to me are always fire.
@@danielLandon408mate wtf are u on about? Do u think British is just English? Why not say English? There was no British until Scotland joined the Union, he’s also not from the fucking highlands pal
YOU DONT JUST WRITE "WHEN IN AUSTRALIA" AND NOT ADD BEETROOT! Gordon you gotta show us a REAL works burger from down undah Patty, Lettuce, Onion, Tomater, Beetroot Bacon, Egg I wanna see a stacker
I made an onion smash burger the other day on my griddle. 80-20 freshly ground beef, thinly sliced onion, salt and pepper and American cheese on a potato roll. Guaranteed it was better than this. And no mess. Full stick of butter. If anything....mine was borderline diet food.
It’s because the man uses aged cheeses that are harder to melt. Idk why he doesn’t realize that but I guess he uses them for flavor rather than presentation
For you two people above me, it’s for the flavor and he doesn’t intend to melt the cheese, he only wanted the flavor of it. This is either basque cheese or Spanish manchego. I’m no chef but c’mon. He’s a professional you don’t think he knows there’s way more better cheese for melting if he intended to melt it? Lol
That looks very delish (though I’d prefer a bit more of a dry toast on that bun for texture.) I made a similar looking burger today using delicious Australian grass fed beef. I didn’t blow torch my cheddar cheese, instead I simply covered the pan for a few moments for the melt, then topped it with some sliced sautéed mushrooms / softened onions/ and the egg. It was served up on a scooped & toasted soft plain bagel dressed with Kewpie. Yummmmmm.. mine was a little more chewy from the bagel
*Cool video… anyways here is some random lemon tart recipe* Let eggs stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Whisk together eggs, sugar, lemon juice and orange zest. Whisk in butter until smooth. Set aside. For crust, pulse first 6 ingredients in a food processor until mixture forms a ball. Press dough onto the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9-in. fluted tart pan with removable bottom. Pour lemon mixture into crust. Bake until center is almost set, 25-30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Just before serving, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar and, if desired, fresh raspberries. **enjoy 😂**
Finally, someone putting caramelised onions on a burger instead of raw onion. Caramelised is next level for flavour. That burger looks absolutely unreal!!!
Raw onions horrible lmao. Grow up. Also gordons onions are not caramelised, they are burnt, along with everything else. This clown probably used 100 grams of butter which he also burned. And it ended with a dripping absolute mess. What a fool
Imagine telling a 19 Michelin star chef how to cook.... That said, I agree with you. He should have out the cheese directly on the burger while it was searing.

Hey there! Just wanted to say that you are absolutely stunning! Your smile is radiant and your positive energy shines through. How has your day been? 😊🌸
Actually disgusting. Onions turned into shmoo, too much oil in bun, meat unknown but looks like tasteless pillow. Stop making this even if famous doesn’t means you make it right. 3 out 10.
When in Australia?! As an Aussie I’m mortified you put sliced cucumber on a burger instead of pickled beetroot, bacon, and grilled onions to go with that egg. This is what happens when you send a Pom to do an Aussie’s work, save the cucumbers for your high tea back in the UK 😋😂
I love Gordon. I do. But this isnt what a burger should be. And his grilled cheese video made me so mad. The cheese wasnt even melted. And they were good cheese choises dont get me wrong, but the bread was way too thick. You might as well put the bread in a toaster for 2 minutes then build it, put the whole thing in a microwave for 15 seconds and boom. Thats what it looked like. Sorry im american but a grilled cheese sandwich needs to be melted cheese, crispy bread. You cant take a simple dish, that is already perfect, and make it avant garde and worse. The only thing ive seen to enhance a grilled cheese experience is putting 2 chopsticks down to keep it off the plate so the steam doesnt collect on it and make one side soggy.
As an Australian I appreciate the inclusion of the egg. Eggs where there aren't normally eggs is like 80% of our culture. Should have been cooked on a barbie tho.
