Thank you for video. I’m glad your taking about your show tanks , because it’s ok selling coral , w hat we all want to see is you putting it all together like we do and then tell us what went wrong or write and help us all , with flow , light polop extension and best perimeters to thrive in this hobby
Thought I was the done stage and honestly was kinda over it after 8 years BUT I got a reef mat and red sea’s new ATO for Christmas and now I am all back in for a while. Funny how little toys do that. Love the Black on Black look Than. BY FAR the best looking dude in the hobby, no matter what home boy from Fritz thinks of himself!! Haha
I've kept a spreadsheet of info on water testing and notes for all of the aquaruims I've started. Freshwater and saltwater. Also livestock counts and births/deaths for each tank (at least for fish). Snails and shrimps are hard to keep track of. It's helpful info.
I don't think we're every actually done with maintaining living systems. Nor, is there ever actually an ending to a hobby, so long as the hobbyist still has an interest. However, you raise some good points. And you do a great job of linking progress and "finishing" a project with personal goals, expectations, and definitions. Whenever I complete a goal, I seem to be good at finding another. The danger is in, becoming bored.
Hi sir i want make aluminium stand for aquarium my tank water capacity is 65 gallon can you guide which profile size is best 45×45 or 45×60 can guide me please
I think the main take away from me is there are two parts of your story. One is you are the visionary and owner of the business. So you don't get to always sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. You, your staff, family, and what not as "we" the traditional hobbyist can. There is an emotional roller coaster that isn't seen as you go about your day to day operation. At least in my opinion. Secondly, I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you get to go back through the content created to see the change over time. I can't stress this enough and feel everyone should do this. Not so much to post on line and say look at me, great job, but rather to document visually what we have done. Doesn't matter if it is our saltwater hobby, freshwater, sewing, wood working, or work. It allows us to go back and look be it a video or photo to say yeah, I did that, or that was bad, good, great, etc. Some times it is just a friendly reminder for when we are down to say hey - I actually have been doing things, or making progress, or this is the date, time, and look prior to something happening. All the best to you, your family, staff and team. Here is 2024.
That's honestly a great life lesson to see the hobby like that. I also think very often its an addiction for people to keep buying new corals and fish, and that exciting sure, but as you say, look back at the progress you made and learn to enjoy the process.
Being done is an active stage and is anything but static. For me, it’s about getting my tank in a state of self-regulation so that it continues to run even when my time doesn’t allow for me to touch it everyday. I started my own RU-vid channel just so I could remember what I had done and when. “Journey before destination.” -Brandon Sanderson🤓
I've been in this hobby for 29 years, and I'm done when I'm dead. Even if I get to the point where I'm not physically capable, I'll pay someone to perform that function for me. As long as my brain is still operating and im lucid, I'm good. It's no different to building and improving your life. It's a labour of love.
I wish I started my construction business in Akron to be closer to Tidal Gardens. Trading my handman skills for corals would be awesome!! Your place looked great when we came last year. Will definitely have to make a trip out again to see any new updates you may have done.
great thoughts here. for me, the fact that it is “never done” is the one thing that has kept me interested for as long as it has. no other hobby else has kept my interest as long as reefing has. it’s a strange balance of stress & enjoyment. there’s a certain delayed gratification unlike any other, but as soon as one goal is hit it’s never good enough. i hope i get the opportunity keep some water moving in a box forever 😂
I’d have to say it’s never done. There’s just simply too much coral to collect and color morphs of species. Then all the stops along the way like breeding clownfish. Or maybe someone gets hooked on a certain coral species so they start collecting every color morph they can find. This hobby is too vast in my opinion to ever put a final “done” on. And if you have put a final “done” on it did you even enjoy anything about the hobby?
