An Endoscopy is a diagnostic tool used for examining the inside of your body for either diagnosis or treatment purposes. It is most commonly used to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and colon when there are complaints of abdominal pain or tenderness, difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) or even indigestion at times. This procedure is especially recommended for people over 50 years of age.
Dr. Sanjoy Basu, Consultant Gastroenterologist at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah, explained the need for the Endoscopy procedure and the expected results from the procedure.

Doctor, is endoscopy advisable for a person in late 30s years. Body weight correct. No pain anywhere at all. But continuous feeling of nausea and vomiting for years. Sour, spicy, citric food, brinjal, gram flour etc are sure-shot triggers. Proton Pump Inhibitors help greatly while taken. And heat and stress causes this problem to start. Is there a co-relation between stress and stomach issues. Is it advisable to take a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) like Nexito 5 Tablet. Is it habit-forming to rely on such mind-relaxants. Is there no sonography which can help find out problems of the stomach, or perhaps liver function.
