I have four types of Asian apple pear trees in my Arizona orchard and I love them: they are fully mature trees, and juice very well, or make pies or jams. They grow tall as most pear trees do, and require plenty of water, much like an apple tree does, but they are well worth the effort and their taste is SUPERB! My trees have been in the ground 19 years now. They begin to ripen in late summer, close to early September here in NW AZ.

The texture of these is amazing! Super crisp but also incredibly juicy at the same time

I'd recommend placing them in the fridge when they are ripe. I find that I like them better when the are cold! :)

Thank you so much for the video! I had an asian pear sitting in my hanging fruit basket for about 5 days confused whether it was ripe or not because I am used to normal ones getting mushy. As soon as I watched this I tried it with my boyfriend and they are sooo delicious! If you want to get asian pears cheap, Krogers has them sometimes for only 99 cents. I just wish my local one would restock their mangoes!

For gardeners koger sells cheap fruit pear peach and nectarine trees early spring. I bought a few trees last year and got 🍐 and 🍑 that year. Fyi. The tress were only 12.00.

I have a big bush with thorns and it grows like wildfire you can’t trim it enough in the summertime. I wouldn’t say it’s actually a tree more of a big full out of control bush if you don’t Trim them

glad the one I had this morning was ripe, and yeah, they are very apple-like. if I didn't know better, i'd probably class them as a cross-breed. firm and texture like an apple, but taste is like a pear. even the inside resembles an apple (with the core/seeds)

I've got a couple of Asian Pear trees in our orchard. We moved here 3+ years ago not knowing what fruit would be on the trees. We've got 2 types of pears that I just finished using by making pear butter and bread. Since the weather is about to change to much cold nights and possibly some frost, plus the deer are starting to go after the fruit, I wanted to check to see if I could pick these Asian pears now or if I had to wait until they are all green. Sounds like I will be picking the fruit now, let it ripen if it isn't fully ripe and then enjoy as I create my next way of using my harvested fruit. Thanks for the knowledge about them!

We have an Asian pear tree in our back yard and have never known what to do with them. We must have picked them too soon, because they were not sweet or juicy and tasted terrible. We tried harvesting them the same time as our regular pears and apples, but that didn't work. They were still green. Now I know what to look for.

There's me slaving over a new channel :) and I thought you had taken a holiday. Gonna have to report you for resting :) Always good to see your videos. Have you ever had Wood Apples (Limonia). I lived in Sri Lanka for some time, where I had wood apples for breakfast. You would find them very interesting, they have a sort of Grainy Curd inside almost like a Pre Made Stewed Apple. Have a great week buddy. Steve

Those big Asian pears are juicy and delicious when ripe. Very unusual and unforgettable taste. These pears, and ripe Taylors Gold, have stolen my taste for basic Bartlett pears, although a good Bosc still finds its way into my cart.

you are so knowledgeable and it shows it's nice to learn some of this but when I'm shopping in a store and I just need to know how to choose a ripe one maybe you could have a shorter version that is just straight to the point so I think I gather that the Asian pear do you want to choose them when they're brownish and they last a long time thanks so much

Agreed, he doesn't say how to tell if it's ripe. All he does is compare a more brown colored one to a more green colored one. I notice that he cuts open the more brown colored one and says how nice it looks. Based on that, I assume the more brown it is then the more ripe it is. So I guess brown is good, unless it feels mushy?
@anyoneatallx
@anyoneatallx 4 года назад
@@jasonmh Yes he did. When he compares the brown and green under-toned one, he mentions that the greenish one isn't ripe. Which means the brown colored one is ripe. Not hard to tell.

@onepcwhiz 7 лет назад
Not a very good video.. you never say when it's ripe! Will it continue to ripen after you buy it? If not, was it picked too soon and you shouldn't buy it at all? If that's they case why don't you tell us which ones to buy?
@Support4MySingers
@Support4MySingers 6 лет назад
When its ripe its brown! When it has an undertone of green its not ripe. That was made clear in the video. Even when ripe the outside is still very firm to the touch so you can only tell by the colour. The texture does not change much, its not a soft fruit, even when ripe or over ripe, its still hard like an apple and crunchy. If brown, eat it down, if green, I dunno, on the kitchen counter let it lean LOL!

Since you're trying to inform the un-informed...a little information about variety may help on you next video. There's a lot of variety available especially since they're being grown more domestically. Looks like you have 3 different ones.
