Great video. I have ridden 2 wheels for most of my adult life. My last 2 wheel bike was a 2006 Ultra Classic. I turned 70 in 2016 and my sense of balance and confidence were just no longer there. Hence, I purchased a 2016 FLRT Freewheeler and absolutely love it. A great way to keep me nose in the wind.
I bought one of theses this summer the blue and silver one I put over $6000.00 of extras on it. changed the wheels to the chrome ones this trike is beautiful I love it my wife loves it and our 2 pups that ride with us love it to being 70 years old the trike was the way to go for me but any age would love this thing really happy with it the only bad thing about it is I live in New,York had to put it away for now We can't wait to get back on it.
Getting back into motorcycling after some thirty plus years, and having no experience riding two up, l felt the Tri- Glide was the way to go. My Wife and I have not looked back! Great in stop and go traffic, not having to always put your feet down. Also heading into a curve and coming upon some unexpected gravel, having that third wheel puts one at ease. :-) Thanks for sharing. Safe Travels.
I just love my Harley Trike have had 2 wheelers for quite some time and now I am in my 70s I got me a Trike and wow its just great to ride. probably a little bit safer also. but whatever I just love it so that's me set for the rest of my life enjoying Trikeing around New Zealand
I have been on two wheels a long time. My last was a truly wonderful friend. 06 Heritage Classic. Loved that bike. Got cancer in 2011. Lots of stuff later, I began to notice weaknesses in my legs. Just traded on a 2012 Tri Glide. First ride was three hours from PA to VA. I can’t stay off it. Wonderful machine. You’ll know when you’re ready. Whatever the reason or not.
My father threw my tricycle into the garbage truck when I was a young tot. Pissed me off. I wasn't finished riding it. Now I'm in my 40's and I still want one.
My first mile on my trike I wanted my money back. Now that I have owned it for a while now l love the thing! They are very fast and you have be careful on the on ramps. Much safer. I just sold my 2 wheeler I was not riding it anymore. It's not motorcycling it's tiking . Now I want another one to have. I love them
Yes I have 2011 Trike Tri Glide I had a stroke and was afraid of dropping a 2 wheel because of some weakness in left side love it if I knew it was this great would have did it a long time ago
That's a beautiful tri glide!! I don't care about age or any of that stuff, I just think they are extremely cool, weather you can ride a 2 wheeler or not!! I love the looks of the tri glide and I've heard they are also a blast to ride, and extremely comfortable!!!
Whenever you want. That's when it's time for a trike. I just received my M classification in 2016 and decided on the Harley Tri Glide Ultra for my first set of wheels. My wife wanted to ride with me and she preferred the feel of the trike over a motorcycle. I had no problem with that whatsoever! I still have a blast on my trike, with the added bonus of room for luggage or groceries. I love my trike.
I did the same thing got my in class had a tri 2014 Tri Glide as my first trike we've been driving all over this country we just totaled it here in Fort Worth Texas some guy T-boned us she still in the hospital for a couple days I'm bedridden here in the hotel but we're going to go out and get the 114 ultra-glide next got to get back on the horse trikes are awesome
Been married for 30 years and my wife was never really comfortable riding on a 2 wheeler. We bought a TriGlide 2 years ago and I can’t keep her off the damn thing! Lol. Every where we go she wants to take the trike. Best decision I ever made. (Okay maybe the second best. The first one was marrying her).
"LEARNING" How to ride a Tri-Glide is much easier for someone with little or no experience than it is for someone who has rode 2 wheelers all their life. Whether you realize it or not things like leaning into a curve or counter steering are instinctive and you must "unlearn" them. I paid $40k for a brand new 2021 with some nice upgrades. 1 week after I gouged the right side rear fender while trying to go the opposite direction. I thought oh great I just bought a expensive bike that I can't ride! But now that I know better and have learned a $1k lesson I love this thing! I put 1000 miles on it in 1 month, I just can't seem to get off of it! Taking the wife across the country to discover America from WV up to Chicago following old route 66 to Santa Monica pier then back along more northern route to Maine and down to DC and back home. Maybe by then I'll get this out of my system.😉👍
Yes this is my dream machine it is the only option for me yes I do have a disability I am new to the culture never did a regular two wheel motorcycle so when people talk about giving up two wheel cycle advantages I don’t know what they are referring to so I don’t worry about the trike
Going to a triglide. Wound up getting a huge blister on the bottom of my left foot. All from riding a bike. A friction burn. As s diabetic I am still recovering. I got the burn in July on a test ride of a ride event at the local dealership. Looking as a Road glide at the time. This burn took off my entire pad on the front of my foot. To make matters worse it became infected. The doctors treated me with antibiotics which turns out in highly allergic and broke out in sores from head to toes. I look like a fricking apaloosa horse now. So yes I'm going to 3 wheels and recomend any diabetic who rides to do so. Almost looking my leg and 3 weeks in a hospital bed is reason enough for me. All because of a blister.
All your reasons are probably true sometimes but the damn things are stand outs! They are cool! They are the ones I always looked at when there was tons of other bikes on the highway I paid no attention at all to the two wheelers! Yeah the wife doesn't like bikes but that hasn't kept me from shattering a helmet off my head owning one! The truth is the Tri-glides are world class! Nuff said!! No other reason needed!
I'm 72 and own several bikes I still ride ,my wife is 70 & stopped riding her 1993 Fat Boy in 2001 ,I had my 1938 EL Knucklehead out last month and for the 1st time in my life didn't feel fully in control of the bike ,my dad bought the Knuckle brand new and I'm it's 2nd owner ,it still has clean factory paint, I inherited the Knuckle in 1970 and have put 35,000 miles on it ,for the 1st time ever that little Knuckle felt like it had control of me so I thought it just might be the rocker clutch & jockey shift ,the next day I took out my 1955 Panhead with standard shift & mousetrap clutch & I felt even more uncomfortable, finally I got on my wife's 93 fat boy I had lowered 2 inches and put a Softail saddle on to lower it more for her ,I'm 6ft 4 260 lbs and sit on her bike like a mini bike ,I put the hammer down for a few miles and took a nice road with good clean bends & turns that make riding fun ,into the 2nd corner I'm used to taking at 60 to 70 mph I found I was having problems counter steering and slowed down to 35 mph ,all the way home it set in that my riding days might be over, I'm heading to check out my 1st Trike sometime this next week ,I don't know what happened to my confidence after 54 years riding but something happened ,I've prolly put 250,000 miles in the saddle over 5 decades ,just last summer I had my Buell Lightning out on the same winding roads & was hammering out of corners at 75 to 80 mph with extreme counter steering comfort & ability, this year everything feels off ,the only bike in our collection I haven't rode this year is my wife's spare bike which is a little 1 lunger Buell Blast 500 cc ,if it comes to that I'm done so I'm hoping like hell a factory HD Trike will do it for me ,I rented a Honda goldwing Trike in 1999 and rode it comfortably for the 2 week rental period and that thing was a f-ing monster huge bike ,I'm hoping for the best ,all of my sons ride and it's our family's way of doing things together ,I simply cannot put myself in the back of one of my sons bikes ,I'm already ashamed I can't ride with confidence anymore and don't know how the hell it happened .
I know exactly what you're talking about. Surgeries have led to balance problems for me so I've decided that a trike is the way to go. I have no qualms about moving to 3 wheels. I'm actually looking at it as an adventure. Keep riding until you can't.
I was born with Cerebral Palsy and as such can never have the balance required to safely ride a regular bike, so a trike is perfect. Especially when is it as nice looking as this one :)
I was born with Cerebral Palsy a mild case, been riding bikes most of my life have a small street bike now but love to have a Harley but they are heavy this would be my only option besides a sportster which I don't like.
If you get too much weight into that backend with luggage and a passenger, remember the stability is going to be different so slower starts. Unless you have wheely wheels on the back 😎
I really thank you for your up front exploration of "when is it time to buy a trike". I'm a newbee rider to the Harley - Davidson. I have a lot of experience on scooters in places like the philippines and last year in Vietnam where I am a Veteran. In a side bar I am here to tell you only a biker on a suicide mission would ride a big bike through a roundabout of literally hundreds of of other low Cc biker and scooter riders. I did it for 16 days and nights with a scooter. As retired US Marine with service connected disabilities I have wanted a Tri Clide for years. On September 8, 2019 I completed the Harley-Davidson Riding Academy. I have led Marines in and out of combat situations, but that had to be one of biggest accomplishments of my 73 years in life. Yes, I'm 73 and a pretty strong relatively healthy retired Leatherneck. Yet I have lower back and knee issues from my time in the Corps. Well I trained on a Harley - Davidson two wheeler and I loved it. Since then I have been struggling with the decision of buying a bike or a trike. My "Get Some" brain says get a bike so I could feel the lean, walking the bike and all the other great things my riding academy coaches taught me. However, your video here allowed me to face my facts, and that my head says get a two wheeler when my heart say a Tri Clide. You hit all the key points I needed to access with my physical condition out there on the road with "Self & Others". My couches were very firm on skill and safety issues when riding a motorcycle. So Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video it has helped me with my final "command decision" to buy a Harley-Division Tri Clide. Take care!
very well done, gentlemen! I'm only 50, 6 ' 4" and 275 with a lot of weightlifting size and strength ....but when we moved to a 2016 Ultra Limited last year it was just something about that bike that made my wife uneasy over our old 2003 Ultra Classic. It was longer and wider and heavier by a little...but it just didn't handle the way the old Ultra did. She hated the way I stuttered at stop lights and she felt uneasy. She loved riding on our little heritage softail...but that's only good (for her) for about 30-45 minutes...and we really like to take long trips across this beautiful country God gave us! The end of it? The softail is our run around bike and rally bike - and I do love it solo....and then we are going try-glide ASAP. Possibly even tomorrow, lol. The first one minute of your video sealed it for me....I am so Blessed to have a wife that enjoys riding with me....I'm not gonna screw with that....I want her to be comfy mentally and enjoy the ride. And heck....if you park your ego for a moment (and still a 2 wheeler in the garage like I do) then you can think of all the uphill, sidehill, downhill stop signs and all the other crazy things we just adapt to as bikers for decades....and all of a sudden you don't have to deal with those anymore in a trip-glide! Be careful with the reverse if you forget to take off parking brake at it will pop the breaker that is located under the side cover which is a pain in the butt.the 2020 will not work when the parking brake is on .

Harley engineering claimes that the solid axle aids in stability, and IRS adds complexity, maintenance costs. Not being an engineer I am compelled to go with the product. No other "factory bike manufacturers offer one. Just kits that void the warranty, can't or won't be worked on by other shops. So Harley is the only game in town, unless you get the Canadian version. Just be sure you love it as the depreciation is high. I've been seeing more and more traded in for Tri Glides.

@@chiselset Oh, I think I'd understand as I've been riding for 45+ years. If I ever get to the point where I can't ride a motorcycle I think I'll just give it up altogether. To each his own, but trikes just don't do it for me. If I can't ride the real deal, I'll just get a two seater sports car.

NEVER say never- some day something may change with your health and if you want to keep riding a trike is the way to go. In my case I lost most of the muscle on my right upper leg which you need to support yourself.... just saying
Don’t buy avTri Glide that is this old. They handle horribly! The newer ones are way better. I’ve had 4 of these. Each time the handling got better and better.
