I had the diff one explode in my W201 and it ended up shredding the ABS sensor. I didn't know what I was doing back then.

Great channel. This past weekend I drove a 1992 190e 2.6. The gas pedal seemed abit unresponsive. Any ideas???

My first reaction is vacuum leaks, starting with the injector seals. Test for vacuum leaks there, and of course, it could be many other things.

Unuseuall vibrations at differing loads and speeds. If I saw anything beyond normal I would replace them. Opening up the bell housing of the car sheetmetal tunnel is not something you want to risk.

@@georgecurtis6463 Great, thanks. I figured that, but wasn’t sure. No issues/vibrations at present, so assume all is good. Getting it on the lift early next week for tires, so I’ll check it out and make sure all is good. Cheers!

@@OB928 one more thing, look for rust around the flex joint and drive shaft bolts. It means they are either loose or there is wear at the connection points or sleeves. Any of that requires a flex joint replacement. Also, check for elongated holes on the output flange and the driveshaft flange. If elongated, worn out, then they also need to be replaced. On normal services, specifically the e and ex services I always checked the bolts for tightness. Much more to services than an oil change.

I believe another symptom is a metallic clunk when you shift into reverse. (I know mine does. I haven't done the discs yet.)

@@theundergroundlairofthesqu9261 correct. But other things clunk also. So its imperative that things get closely inspected. As to drive lines. Take a close look at the drive shaft u joints. Look closely. Any signs of rust of any sort, specially looking like some powder indicates that they are bad. With all the talk about drive shafts, remember to mark the two halves . This is critical ! Some did come with marks but always make your own, preferably punch marks. Paint and such wont work. And for sure replace the drive shaft support mount.

Looks like my 05 Magnum RT flex disc. I replace mine every year, it must not like the built engine. You will feel a horrible clunk.
